Part A - Introduction

Use and interpretation

The Betfair Sportsbook Rules and Regulations ("Sportsbook Rules") are part of Betfair’s terms and conditions.

The Sportsbook Rules apply in relation to the markets offered and bets placed on the Betfair Sportsbook and on Betfair’s ‘Fixed Odds’ and ‘Multiples’ products (although they do not apply in relation to any bets placed on Exchange Multiples, Australian Multis, Tote Extra and Tote & Exotics markets). The Sportsbook Rules do not apply to markets offered or bets placed on the Betfair Exchange.

The Sportsbook Rules consist of the following:
- This Introduction section (Part A);
- The General Rules (set out in Part B below); and
- The Specific Sports Rules (set out in Part C below – these apply to certain sports and to financial markets).
The General Rules apply to all bets on the aforementioned products unless stated otherwise in the Specific Sports Rules. If there is any inconsistency between the Specific Sports Rules and the General Rules, the Specific Sports Rules shall prevail. The General Rules will apply in respect of any category of bets or markets not referred to in the Specific Sports Rules (for example, special bets or beach volleyball).

Please note that there are separate Rules and Regulations for each of our Exchange and Sportsbook products. The rules governing how markets are offered, managed and/or settled are not the same for every market on each product. In certain circumstances, a bet that is settled as a winner on one product may be settled as a loser on the other product (and vice versa). Additionally, different settlement rules may apply so that, for example, bets that are a winner on one product may be settled as a dead heat or be voided on the other product. Customers must ensure that they familiarise themselves with the relevant rules that apply to the bets that they place on Betfair’s products.
Customer responsibility

Betfair customers should make themselves aware of all of the Sportsbook Rules affecting any market on which they wish to place a bet.
Customer betting disputes & IBAS

Any Betfair customer who has any concerns or questions regarding the Sportsbook Rules or regarding the settlement of any Betfair market should contact Betfair via email at support.en@betfair.com or via the relevant country-specific Helpdesk email address or telephone number.

If a customer is not satisfied with how a bet or a market has been settled then the customer should provide details of their grievance to Betfair via email at support.en@betfair.com or via the relevant country-specific Helpdesk email address or telephone number. Betfair shall use its reasonable endeavours to respond to queries of this nature within a few days (but intends in any event to respond to all such queries within 14 days of receipt).

When a customer has exhausted the internal Betfair betting dispute process without a satisfactory outcome, they may submit their betting dispute to IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, or to such other independent betting adjudication service that Betfair may recognise from time to time.

Part B - General Rules

In-Play betting
1. 1.1General
  - For everything other than horseracing and greyhound racing, if a market is not scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair fails to suspend the market at the relevant time, then:
    - if the event has a scheduled 'off' time, all bets matched after that scheduled off time will be void; and
    - if the event does not have a scheduled 'off' time, Betfair will use its reasonable endeavours to ascertain the time of the actual 'off' and all bets after the time of the 'off' determined by Betfair will be void.
  - For horseracing and greyhound racing, if a market is not scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair fails to suspend the market at the relevant time, then all bets matched after the official 'off' time will be void.
  - Betfair aims to use its reasonable endeavours to suspend in-play markets at the start of and at the end of the event. However, Betfair does not guarantee that such markets will be suspended at the relevant time.
  - Betfair reserves the right at its absolute discretion to part-suspend or fully suspend outcomes/selections in a Sportsbook or Fixed Odds market that has been turned in-play.
  - Betfair customers are responsible for managing their in-play bets at all times.
  - The availability of an in-play market on our Exchange product for a particular event does not necessarily mean that there will be an equivalent in-play market for the same event on our Sportsbook or Fixed Odds product.
  - For the purposes of in-play betting, customers should be aware that transmissions described as “live” by some broadcasters may actually be delayed or pre-recorded. The extent of any delay may vary depending on the set-up through which they are receiving pictures or data. Please also be aware that, for operational reasons, bet requests made in-play may take slightly longer to process.
2. 1.2All markets other than soccer markets - not suspending at the time of the 'off'
  - In relation to markets which are scheduled to be turned in-play, Betfair aims to use its reasonable endeavours to turn such markets in-play at the time of the 'off'. However, Betfair does not guarantee that such markets will be suspended and turned in-play at the time of the 'off'.
  - If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair fails to suspend the market at the time of the 'off' and the market is not turned in-play at any time during the event, all bets after the scheduled time of the 'off' will be void (in the case of horseracing and greyhound racing, bets will be void from the official rather than the scheduled 'off' time) UNLESS it can be established that the bet was placed before the official off time or the actual time of the off. If the event does not have a scheduled 'off' time, Betfair will use its reasonable endeavours to ascertain the time of the actual 'off' and all bets after the time of the 'off' determined by Betfair will be void.
  - If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair fails to suspend the market at the time of the 'off', but the market is turned in-play at a later time during the event, all bets after the time of the 'off' will stand. HOWEVER the price may be adjusted by Betfair and the bets may be settled in accordance with the correct price at the time on which the relevant bet was placed (such price to be determined by Betfair, acting reasonably).
3. 1.3Soccer markets - not suspending at kick-off
  - In relation to soccer markets that are scheduled to be turned in-play, Betfair aims to use its reasonable endeavours to turn such markets in-play at kick-off and to suspend such markets on the occurrence of a Material Event (see definition of "Material Event" below). However, Betfair does not guarantee that markets will be suspended and turned in-play at kick-off.
  - If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair fails to suspend the market at kick-off and the market is not turned in-play at any time during the match, all bets matched after the scheduled time of the kick-off will be void UNLESS it can be established that the bet was actually placed before the actual time of kick-off.
  - If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair fails to suspend the market at kick-off, but the market is turned in-play at a later time during the match, all bets matched after the scheduled time of the kick-off will stand. HOWEVER the price may be adjusted by Betfair and the bets may be settled in accordance with the correct price at the time on which the relevant bet was placed (such price to be determined by Betfair, acting reasonably).
  - For the purpose of this rule, a "Material Event" shall mean a goal being scored, a penalty being awarded or a player being sent off.
Results and market settlement
1. 2.1General
  - Where the Specific Sports Rules do not specify how and on what basis a market will be settled, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
  - If no official result of a relevant governing body is available, the result will be determined by Betfair (acting reasonably) using information from independent sources. In such cases, if any new information comes into the public domain within 48 hours of settlement, then Betfair shall (acting reasonably) determine either:
    1. whether the market should be reinstated or resettled in light of this new information; or
    2. whether or not to wait for further information before deciding whether to reinstate or resettle the market. Except where Betfair has announced that it is waiting for further information, any information that comes into the public domain more than 48 hours after a market has been settled shall not be considered by Betfair (regardless of whether or not such information may have led to a different result).
  - In the event of any uncertainty about any result or potential result, Betfair reserves the right to suspend settlement of any market for an unlimited period until the uncertainty can be resolved to the reasonable satisfaction of Betfair. Betfair reserves the right to void any market if the uncertainty regarding settlement cannot be resolved to Betfair’s reasonable satisfaction.
2. 2.2Resettlements
  - Markets are generally settled shortly after the end of the event in question. Betfair may settle (or part-settle) some markets before the official result is declared (or may increase a customer’s ‘available to bet’ balance by the minimum potential winnings of that customer on a given market) purely as a customer service benefit. However, Betfair reserves the right to amend the settlement of the market if:
    1. the official result is different to the result on which Betfair initially settled the market (for example, a horseracing result being changed by the relevant governing body shortly after a race); or
    2. if the whole market is eventually voided (e.g. for an abandoned event).
  - Betfair reserves the right to reverse the settlement of a market if a market is settled in error (for example, a human or technical error).
  - If Betfair resettles a market, this may lead to amendments being made to a customer's balance to reflect changes in market settlement.
3. 2.3Non Runners
  - Unless stated otherwise, sports bets are accepted on a “non-runner, no bet” basis (unless stated otherwise). This means that stakes will be refunded on a player, team or other competitor that is withdrawn prior to the start of an event. If you have placed a bet on a sporting event run on a “non-runner, no bet” basis and a player, team or other competitor (on which you did not place your bet) is withdrawn, suspended or disqualified from that event, we may apply the equivalent to Tattersalls' Rule 4(c) to your winnings (based on the price of the player, team or other competitor that is withdrawn).
  - Where specified, certain markets will be offered on an “all-in compete or not” basis. This means that, if a player, team or other competitor is withdrawn from an event (whether he, she or it pulls out of the event, is suspended or disqualified from it or otherwise) before he, she or it has taken part in the event, then any bet placed on that player, team or competitor (as applicable) will be deemed a losing bet.
  - If an event is specified as “fixed draw” and a team, player or other competitor is withdrawn, suspended or disqualified from that event, we reserve the right to settle any bets on the subsequent prices once the market has been revised without the withdrawn team/player.
  - If a player, team or other competitor has taken any part in a sporting event once it has officially started and then fails to complete that event for any reason, any bet placed on that player, team or other competitor will be deemed live (i.e. bets on that player, team or other competitor will not be voided).
Abandonments, Cancellations, Postponements
- Some markets have different rules and these are listed in the Specific Sports Rules. However, where a market has no rules in the Specific Sports Rules in relation to an abandonment, cancellation and/or postponement the following shall apply.
- In relation to any match, fixture, game, individual event, race or similar: If the event is not completed within three days after the scheduled completion date, then all bets on markets for this event will be void, except for bets on any markets that have been unconditionally determined.
- In relation to any tournament, competition or similar: If the event is not completed within 24 hours following the scheduled completion date of the event, then any markets relating to the event will be settled in accordance with the official ruling of the relevant governing body, providing such a decision is given within 90 days after the scheduled completion date. If no official ruling is announced in this 90 day period, then bets on any market relating to this event will be void, except for bets on any markets which have been unconditionally determined. If a market is to be voided but has been part-settled as a courtesy to Betfair customers, then such part-settled bets will be reversed and all bets on the market will be void.
- If there is no further sporting action in any market that does not contain the selection ‘draw’ or ‘tie’, all bets placed after this conclusion of action will be voided.
- Betfair will decide (acting reasonably) whether a market relates to a match (or similar) or a tournament (or similar). However, by way of example, the following shall apply:
  1. Europa League outright = tournament;
  2. Champions League Group outright = tournament;
  3. Top Premiership goalscorer = tournament;
  4. 72-hole Golf Match bet = match;
  5. Ryder Cup outright = tournament;
  6. Golf tournament outright = tournament;
  7. Tennis Tournament outright = tournament;
  8. 5-day Cricket Test Match = match;
  9. Ashes Series outright winner = tournament;
  10. Motor Race (e.g. Grand Prix) = match.
Change of venue
- Some markets have different rules and these are listed in the Specific Sports Rules. However, if change of venue is not dealt with in the Specific Sports Rules then the following shall apply:
- For any team sport: if the scheduled venue is changed after a bet is placed, all bets will be void only if the new venue is a home ground of the original away team (or in the case of international matches, only if the venue changes to a venue in a different country).
- For all categories or markets other than team sports: if the scheduled venue is changed after a bet is placed, all bets will stand.
- If there is a change in the type of scheduled surface (e.g. a hockey match switching from grass to astro-turf) after a bet is placed, all bets will stand.
Periods of time
- Some markets have different rules and these are listed in the Specific Sports Rules. However, if not dealt with in the Specific Sports Rules then the following shall apply.
- If the scheduled duration of an event is changed after a bet is placed but before the start of the event, then all bets will be void.
- Some markets refer to the length of time until an occurrence in the event (e.g. time of first goal). If an event happens in stoppage or injury time after any regular time period then it will be deemed to have occurred at the end of the regular time period. For example, if a goal is scored in first half stoppage-time in a soccer match it will be deemed to have occurred on 45 minutes.
- All bets apply to the relevant full ‘regular time’ period including stoppage time. Any extra-time and/or penalty shoot-out is not included.
- References within these Rules and Regulations to a particular number of ‘days’ shall mean the end of the day local time after the expiry of the specified number of days. For example, if a rugby match is scheduled for the 1st of December, then the rule that allows the match to be completed within three days after the scheduled completion date (see Paragraph 3 above) would mean that the deadline for completion of that match would be 23.59:59 on the 4th of December.
"To qualify" markets
- Some markets have different rules and these are listed in the Specific Sports Rules. However, if not dealt with in the Specific Sports Rules then the following shall apply.
- Any 'to qualify' market (e.g. "to reach the final" markets) will be determined by the competitor or team that progresses, whether or not they take part in the next round or event for which they have qualified. Markets will be settled after the qualifying stage and any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result will not count.
Dead heats
- Unless stated otherwise in the Specific Sports Rules the Dead Heat Rule applies to bets on a market where there are more winners than expected.
- Dead heat is a term that describes when two or more selections in an event tie. If a “dead-heat” between two selections is declared on any event, half the stake is applied to the selection at full odds and the other half is lost. If more than two “dead-heats” are declared, the stake is proportioned accordingly.
Errors
- Betfair makes every effort to ensure that it does not make any errors when accepting bets. However, if as a result of technical or system problems or human error, a bet is accepted that is at odds (which includes handicap provisions or similar) and/or is on terms that are either:
  1. materially different from those available in the general betting market at the time the bet was made; or
  2. clearly incorrect given the chance of the event occurring at the time the bet was made including, in either case, because the bet was placed after the start of an event, because the market was not displaying or reflecting in-play status, or because of any other reason, then all bets will stand HOWEVER Betfair will settle winning bets at the ‘correct price’.
- The ‘correct price’ will be determined by Betfair (acting reasonably).

Maximum winnings

For all events listed below, the maximum payout limits apply on a per day basis. If you place a bet that exceeds the applicable limits for a particular event, the relevant maximum payouts will still apply.
The maximum payout limits refer to the total returns on your bets, excluding your original stake.
The maximum payout limits apply to any one customer or group of customers acting together, backing the same combination of selections, regardless of whether or not such bets are struck separately, at a range of different prices, on different days and through a number of different accounts. If Betfair believes that a number of bets have been placed in this way, the total payment of all those bets combined will be limited to one single maximum payout.
The maximum payouts shown below are shown in sterling. If bets are placed in another currency, the maximum payout will be converted using the applicable exchange rate on the day of settlement of the bets.
The maximum payout for bonus payouts such as ‘Lucky 15s’ and ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ is £50,000 per day.
The following maximum payout limits will apply to the events shown (please note, if a multiple bet has been placed which involves events with different maximum payout limits, the lowest applicable maximum payout limit will apply to the whole of your multiple bet – for example, if you place a multiple bet on English Premier League football matches and on a golf tournament, your winnings will be capped at £100,000 and not £1,000,000):

Horseracing
All bets are subject to a maximum payment to any one client in any one day as listed below, irrespective of stakes, odds or number of winning lines.

The maximum payout on British and Irish horseracing covered by the ‘Full SIS Service’ is £1,000,000.

The £1,000,000 limit does not apply in the following cases:
- Any bet on a British or Irish race which is not covered by the ‘Full SIS Service’ (for example, certain Bank Holiday meetings) – these are subject to a maximum payout of £50,000;
- Bets which include a selection for racing outside of Great Britain and Ireland and which are covered by the ‘Full SIS Service’ are subject to a maximum payout of £100,000;
- Any bet which contains a selection running at a race outside of Great Britain and Ireland where race results are not covered by the ‘Full SIS Service’ is subject to a maximum payout of £50,000; and
- Ante post bets are subject to a maximum payment of £250,000.

Overall Maximum Daily Payout Limit: Subject to any lower limits that may apply in respect of any particular event (as set out above), the overall maximum daily payout limit to any customer for all winning bets placed on the Sportsbook, Fixed Odds and Multiples products combined is £1,000,000 (or the currency equivalent). If you place winning bets on those products that exceed this daily limit, your winnings will be reduced to £1,000,000 and the remainder of your winnings in excess of £1,000,000 will be forfeited by you.
Multiples
- Betfair currently offers two types of multiples bets, ‘Exchange Multiples’ and ‘Fixed Odds Multiples’. These Sportsbook Rules only apply to Betfair’s ‘Fixed Odds Multiples’. To see the rules that apply to ‘Exchange Multiples’ please see the Multiples section of the Exchange Rules and Regulations.
- A multiple bet consists of a number of legs. A leg is defined as one or more chosen selections in any individual event market.
- Betfair reserves the right in its sole discretion not to accept certain multiple bets or to scale back stakes.
- All multiple bets placed are subject to the Sportsbook Rules that apply to each individual sport that relates to any leg of any multiple bet.
- If any selection in any leg is a non-runner or otherwise void under the Sportsbook Rules (e.g. an abandoned match) then all bets on that individual leg will be void and the Fixed Odds Multiple bet shall be adjusted accordingly. For example a treble including one void leg will become a double. If that voided legs mean that an individual bet within a multiple becomes a single bet, then this single bet will stand.
- Multiple bets combining different selections within the same event are not accepted when there are related contingencies (i.e. where the outcome of one event is likely to affect the odds on the outcome of another event). The rejection of related contingency bets may happen automatically at the bet placement stage. However, if such a bet is taken in error, Betfair may settle the individual bet combinations which include two or more of the related contingency selections, as single bets.
- o ‘Lucky 15/31/63’ bet types - this multiple bet includes singles and upwards on 4, 5 or 6 selections respectively. The bonuses and consolations on this bet are available for certain markets only. The current applicable markets are horseracing daily race winner markets with the exception of ante-post markets. If this bet is accepted in error for any other type of market it will be settled without the bonuses or consolations. Your win single will be settled at "double odds" if only one of your selections win. For each-way bets, the bonus is only applicable to the win part of the bet. Bets containing non-runners or void selections will not qualify for win bonuses or consolations. The following bullet-points set out the number of bets that each Lucky bet type contains and the applicable bonus: Lucky 15 (4 selections) comprises: 4 Singles, 6 Doubles, 4 Trebles and 1 Fourfold. A 10% bonus will be added to your winnings if all 4 selections win. Lucky 31 (5 selections) comprises: 5 Singles, 10 Doubles, 10 Trebles, 5 Fourfolds and 1 Fivefold. A 20% bonus will be added to your winnings if all 5 selections win. Lucky 63 (6 selections) comprises: 6 Singles, 15 Doubles, 20 Trebles, 15 Fourfolds, 6 Fivefolds and 1 Sixfold. Rules for Tote Betting
- From time to time Betfair may offer the facility for customers to place Tote bets. In such circumstances Betfair will place these bets directly into the relevant pools and the rules as applied by the relevant Tote (for example, the UK Tote, Irish Tote or relevant US racetrack Tote) will apply.
Cash Out
- Cash Out is a feature which is offered on various singles and multiples Sportsbook bets. Cash Out allows you to amend your original bet and lock in a profit or a loss by settling your bet (or a portion of your bet) early, without having to wait for the event to finish.
- If you make a Cash Out request, you will be notified whether or not your request has been successful. Your request to Cash Out is not guaranteed to be accepted and may be unsuccessful if, for example, the market suspends or the odds move before your request has been processed.
- If your Cash Out request is successful, a ‘success’ message will be shown and your bet (or the relevant portion of your bet) will be settled immediately and any winnings returned to your account equal to the amount shown on the Cash Out button. Note that this includes the original stake (or portion of your stake) and the total amount returned to your account will be the amount shown on the Cash Out button. The For a full Cash Out, the bet is settled and any subsequent events will have no impact on the amount returned to your account. For a partial Cash Out, part of your bet is settled and any subsequent events will only impact on the portion of your bet which you have not Cashed Out.
- If your Cash Out request is unsuccessful, a message will be shown which gives the reason why and a new Cash Out offer may be offered to you.
- Cash Out requests made in-play may take longer to process because of the in-play bet delay.

Yes/No
- Yes/No is a concept that rephrases traditional markets such that the selections become ‘Yes’ and ‘No’, and the markets become a question.
- The Yes/No football coupon presents the markets “Will {Team A} beat {Team B}?” and “Will {Team B} beat {Team A}?”, with the former showing by default.
- The Live Score of each event on the football coupon, if available, is not affected when the user ‘Flips the question’.
- Free bet tokens can be used on standard Yes/No markets (excluding ‘Yes/No Quiz’ bets) when allowed by the terms of the promotion for which they are received.
Yes/No Quiz
- The ‘Yes/No Quiz’ is a series of questions curated by Betfair relating to the day’s or the week’s sporting events.
- When placing a ‘Yes/No Quiz’ bet, Betfair breaks down the customer’s total stake and places two separate bets such that the advertised returns are possible.
- 'Yes/No Quiz’ bets are not placed through the betslip, but through the Quiz Module itself.
- ‘Yes/No Quiz’ bets cannot be combined with selections from other markets.
- Free bet tokens cannot be used to place ‘Yes/No Quiz’ bets
Miscellaneous
- Betfair reserves the right in its sole discretion not to accept certain Sportsbook bets, or to scale back the stakes.
- All references to time periods in the Sportsbook Rules relate to the time zone in which the event takes place. For example, a reference to the start time of a football match, relates to the local kick-off time.
- All information supplied by Betfair is done so in good faith. However, Betfair cannot accept liability for any errors or omissions in respect of any information, such as the posting of prices, runners, times, scores, results or general statistics.
- Any results or scores of which you may be advised by a Betfair employee or agent (for example during betting in-play) are provided for guidance purposes only.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring that they satisfy themselves that the selection on which they place a bet is their intended selection. For example, in the case of a competitor bearing the same name as another individual not competing in the relevant event, the onus is on the customer to ensure that they know which competitor is being referred to in the relevant market and to ensure that they are placing their bet on their chosen competitor.

Part C - Specific Sports Rules

American Football

1.1General Rules
- At least ten minutes of official time must elapse in the fourth quarter for bets to have action.
- Overtime counts for all markets unless stated otherwise
- Abandoned or postponed games are void unless played within the same scheduling week. In the event of a change of venue, all bets will be void.
- All settlements are based on results and statistics provided by the relevant league’s governing body: www.nfl.com, www.cfl.ca, www.ncaa.org.
- We reserve the right to suspend any or all betting on a game at any time without notice.
- Handicap betting: In Handicap & Total betting, where the index (value) of the market is a whole number, bets are void and will be refunded where the score lands on that number.
- All Outright markets include playoffs where applicable.
- For settlement purposes, the team listed second in the event name is always considered the Home Team. Example: Team A v Team B or Team A @ Team B - Team B is the Home Team.

2 Athletics
- Where there is a presentation ceremony, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body at the time of the ceremony, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result.
- If there is no presentation ceremony, outcomes will be determined in accordance with the official result of the relevant governing body, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
- If a track or field event is abandoned, cancelled or postponed and not completed within 7 days of the scheduled completion date, all bets will be void except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
- Overall winner markets relate to the winner of the overall event and not for individual qualifiers or heats. As 'Any Other Athlete' is NOT quoted, non-featured athletes will be added to this market on request. Once 'Any Other Athlete' is listed, no further athletes will be added.
3 Australian Rules Football
- Bets apply to regular time excluding overtime. If a game results in a draw stakes will be refunded unless a price on the draw is offered.
- If a match does not start on the scheduled starting date and is not completed within three days of the scheduled start date, all bets will be void except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
- If a match starts but is abandoned before 80mins all bets will be void except for those markets which have been unconditionally determined.
4 Badminton
- A Match is deemed to have commenced after the first serve has been struck. If the required number of games are not played correct score bets will be voided.
5 Bandy
- All bets settled on 90 minutes play unless otherwise stated. If 90 minutes are not completed all bets will be deemed void unless an official result is declared.
6 Baseball
6.1General Rules
- These rules apply to Major League Baseball, NCAA and World baseball.
- All settlements are based on the results and statistics provided by the relevant league’s governing body (e.g. Major League Baseball).
- Should a game not start on the day of the officially listed start time, as stated by the relevant governing body, due to a rain delay or other similar events, all bets will be void. The day of the event will be considered the day according to the time zone in which the game was scheduled to be played.
- In the event of a shortened game, results are official after (and, unless otherwise stated, bets shall be settled subject to the completion of) 5 innings of play, or 4.5 innings should the home team be leading at the commencement of the bottom of the 5th innings (the “4.5 Innings Rule”). Should a game be called, if the result is official in accordance with this rule, the winner will be determined by the score after the last full inning completed (unless the home team score to tie, or take the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which circumstances the winner is determined by the score at the time the game is suspended).
- Notwithstanding the above, in certain circumstances where we so specify, results will only be official after (and bets shall be settled subject to the completion of) a minimum of 9 innings’ play, or 8.5 innings should the home team be leading at the commencement of the bottom of the 9th innings (the “8.5 Innings Rule”).
- For the purposes of live betting, the 8.5 Innings Rule shall automatically apply unless stated otherwise - e.g. in the section below entitled “Overview of Specific Baseball Markets” (which shall take precedence over this section). However, should a game be shortened due to bad weather or similar, live betting markets which have been unequivocally determined will stand (irrespective of the 8.5 Innings Rule or whether or not an official league result has been confirmed).
- Extra innings, where applicable, count for settlement purposes.
- If a game is suspended and continues to a conclusion the following day (local time), then all bets will stand. In the case of a suspended MLB Playoff games, all bets will stand until the game is completed.
- Save where otherwise specified, the scheduled starting pitchers (the “Listed Pitchers”) must start for bets to stand. In the event there is a double pitching change, where a pitcher is changed but then re-instated, it will be treated as a normal pitching change.
- For settlement purposes, the team listed second in the event name is considered to be the home team (even if the game takes place at a neutral venue). Example: “Team A v Team B” or “Team A At Team B”, Team B is the home team.
- All outright markets include playoffs where applicable.
- Should a mercy rule be applied, for settlement purposes, markets (for both pre-match and live betting) will be settled according to the result as determined by the application of the mercy rule.
- Listed Pitchers are not relevant to World Baseball markets and bets on such markets will stand regardless of whether any Listed Pitchers do in fact start. Should a game end in a tie, Money Line betting will be void with all other markets settled as per the result.
- For double-headers in the Australian Baseball League (ABL), each of the first games are 7 inning games and are priced and settled accordingly. If the first game of a double header goes to extra innings, causing the second game to be shortened to less than the scheduled 9 innings as a result, all bets on the run line and total market for the second game will be void. All head to head bets on the second game will still stand.
6.2Overview of Specific Baseball Markets
- Money Line: Pre-match Money Line markets will be settled as per the 4.5 Innings Rule and live Money Line markets will be settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule.
- Run Line Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule.
- Total Runs Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule with the exception of when a result has already been unequivocally determined.
- Double Markets (Money Line, Run Line / Total): Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule
- Double Result: Settled on the basis of the score at the end of the 5th inning plus the final score as per the 8.5 Innings Rule.
- Tri-Bet Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule.
- Odd/Even Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule. In the event a result of zero is arrived at, that shall be considered an even number for settlement purposes.
- Winning Margin Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule.
- Team to Score First Markets: Settled on the first run of the game (irrespective of whether or not a full game, or a certain number of innings, have been completed). Where a double is offered, the 8.5 Innings Rule applies.
- Team to Score Last Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule.
- Highest Scoring Half of Match: Inclusive of extra innings, settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule. For the purposes of this rule, the first “half” of a match shall be deemed to be the first 5 innings and the second “half” shall be deemed to be all other innings which take place during the match (including additional innings). For example, if 11 innings are played, the first “half” of the match shall be deemed to be the first 5 innings and the second “half” of the match shall be deemed to be the last 6 innings.
- Highest Scoring Inning: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule. Dead heat rules apply in the event of a tie. Should the highest scoring inning occur in extra innings, innings 1-9 will be considered losers.
- Inning of First / Last Score: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule (unless, in the case of the first score, the result has already been unequivocally determined).
- Inning / Half Inning Markets: The relevant inning or half inning of the game must be fully completed for bets to stand (unless, in the case of a total runs market, the result has already been unequivocally determined).
- 3 / 5 / 7 Inning Markets: The specified number of innings must be completed for bets to stand (unless the home team holds the lead and the bottom of the inning would not change the result for team specific markets).
- 1st Half Markets: Settled following the completion of 5 Innings. The 4.5 Innings Rule applies for shortened games where the results of markets have already been fully determined
- Lead After / Race To Markets: Settled based on the score at the end of the specified period or once the required number of runs have been scored (as applicable).
- Hits Markets: Settled as per the 8.5 Innings Rule. In the case of specific Inning / half Inning markets, the stated period must have been completed for bets to stand unless the result has already been unequivocally determined.
- Regular Season Specials: A team must play at least 160 games for regular season wins bets to stand. In all other circumstances, bets will be void. Where a specified player is listed under a market pertaining to a certain league/team, he will be deemed a player in that league/team for the purpose of the result regardless of any inter-league/team trade which may occur.
- To Hit a Home Run & Home Run / Match Winner Double: Listed Pitchers must start and player must face at least 1 at bat for bet to stand (failing which, in each case, bets on this market will be voided).
- Player Total Strikeouts: Listed Pitcher must start for bet to stand. If opposing Listed Pitcher does not start, then bets will still stand.
- Player Performance Doubles: Both Listed Pitchers must start for bets to stand.
7 Basketball
8 Big Brother
- Should a contestant be evicted from the house, removed by Big Brother or leave of their own accord, they will be settled as a loser. Should that same contestant be re-admitted at a later date, they will be treated as a new contestant and previous bets will not stand.
- Eviction markets apply only to official Channel Four/Five evictions. Any contestant leaving the house of their own accord or removed by Big Brother will not be treated as the next evictee for betting purposes. Betfair reserves the right to void all bets placed on an eviction market should the initial line up for eviction be changed. Others may be added to the market at any time.
- Betfair is not responsible for the way in which Channel Four/Five conduct the show. Any late changes to methods of eviction, addition or subtraction of housemates or any other factors affecting the market are beyond our control.
- Any disputes concerning any market will be referred to Channel Four/Five for clarification; their decision will be treated as final.
- Betfair reserves the right to suspend any market at any time.
- For the purposes of our markets, we will define an eviction as the permanent expulsion from the house of contestant or contestants. Therefore, fake evictions will not be considered as winners. Therefore any bets placed on a stipulated eviction (e.g. first) will run until a person is seen to egress the house with no immediate prospect of return.
- Betfair reserves the right to apply a dead heat reduction on any event where more winners are declared than were originally specified.
- In the event of the series been cancelled before an official winner is declared, bets will be settled as a dead heat between the contestants that have not been eliminated. Outright bets on contestants already eliminated will be treated as losing selections.
9 Bowls
- If a match starts but is not completed the player progressing to the next round is deemed to have won.
- If the correct number of games/sets is not completed set betting will be void.
10 Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts
- All individual bout markets will be settled according to the official result of the relevant governing body immediately after the end of the fight, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in tallying the points or in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
- If a fight is abandoned, cancelled or postponed and not completed within three days of the scheduled start date, or a boxer is withdrawn or substituted before the first round bell, all bets will be void.
- In boxing: If a boxer retires before the start of a round, fails to answer the bell, or is disqualified for any reason between rounds, the fight will be deemed to have finished at the end of the previous round.
- In boxing: Any fight which goes to a Technical Decision will be considered to be an early stoppage. This will result in the round of the stoppage being settled as the winner. For the method of victory market this means the KO/TKO or DQ selection will be settled as the winner.
- In Mixed Martial Arts: if the referee, corner or doctor calls a stop to the fight due to injury, laceration, vision or dislocation, the winner will be deemed winner by Technical KO. If the fight has gone to the 3rd round (non title fight) or 5th round (title fight) and this happens, it will go to the judges’ scorecards for a Technical decision.
- If one of the boxers is disqualified they will be deemed a loser.
- If the scheduled duration of the fight is altered in time or number of rounds then all bets will be void – except Match odds.
- If the scheduled venue is changed after a bet is placed so that the new venue is changed to a venue in a different country then all bets will be void. For all other changes to the scheduled venue bets will stand.
- In boxing, if a fight is declared a ‘no contest’ then all bets will be void.
- In Mixed Martial Arts, if a fight is declared a 'no contest' then all markets will be void.
- In Boxing, if the fight is declared a ‘Technical Draw’ “Draw” will be settled as the winner. Bets will be void in markets where the Draw in not an option unless the market has been unconditionally determined.
- In Mixed Martial Arts, If the fight is declared a ‘Technical Draw’ or a draw then all bets on the Fight Result markets will be void.
11 Cricket

12 Cycling

- For ‘To Win A Stage’ markets, if the named rider fails to start the race all bets on that rider will be void. If the named rider is involved in a dead heat for first place in any stage, this will count as a stage win.
- For overall ‘Head to Head’ markets, if both riders retire during the same stage then this market will be settled as a dead heat. If either rider fails to start the race all bets will be void. If both riders fail to start a subsequent stage for any reason the winner is the rider with the highest position after the previous stage. Dead heat rules apply.
- For stage ‘Head to Head’ markets, if both riders fail to finish the stage this market will be void. Any other non runners will not affect this market. At least one rider must finish the stage for bets to stand.li>
13 Darts
- In the event of a match starting but not being completed, the player progressing to the next round will be deemed the winner (or in the case of the final the player declared the winner).
- If a match is not completed for any reason then bets on 'any correct score' or 'next leg/game/set' market will be void unless the market has been unconditionally determined.
- If a match is not completed for any reason then bets on any handicap market will be void unless the market has been unconditionally determined.
- For triples involving highest checkout, most 180s and win/loss of match, each of the three aspects of the bet must have been won outright for the bet to be deemed successful (and settled as a winning bet). For the avoidance of doubt, the bet will be deemed unsuccessful (and settled as a losing bet) if: (i) the selected player’s highest checkout is the same as his/her opponent, (ii) the selected player scores the same number of 180s as his/her opponent and/or (iii) the match is tied.
14 eSports General Rules

If an event involves the same two players or teams playing multiple games/maps, E.G. “Best of 3”, and one or more games or maps are not played because the result of the event has already been determined, bets on such games or maps are void.

Postponements/Cancellations

Dates and start times are shown for info purposes only. Events cancelled, postponed or interrupted and not completed within 48 hours of the originally scheduled start time, bets on that event are void and stakes refunded. However, games or maps that are completed within 48 hours are settled normally even if additional games or maps that were supposed to be part of the same matchup are cancelled or further postponed.

Broadcast

Bets are settled based on the official broadcast of the game by the publisher or event organiser. Where the broadcast shows a counter of rounds won, kills, dragons, towers etc., this will generally be used to settle relevant bets. If the result of a bet is unclear from the broadcast, or if there is no broadcast, then the statistics API for the game will be used where available.

Indexed Markets

In the case of indexed or numbered markets (such as the winner of a specific round in Counter Strike: GO, or the team to score a particular numbered kill in League of Legends or DOTA2), the index determines the objective that counts. Words such as “next” in the market name are not guaranteed to be correct, as broadcasts may be delayed and we may not always advance the index precisely when an objective is scored or a round completed. All bets are therefore settled on the particular numbered round or objective specified, regardless of any other wording in the market name or its timing in relation to when the bet was placed.
If the scheduled number of rounds or maps is changed, or if markets are erroneously offered based on a different number of rounds or maps from the actually scheduled number, then bets on the winning margin (including handicap), total rounds / maps, correct scores etc. are void and stakes refunded. Map winner and matchup winner bets stand.
o If any map is not played or is awarded to one player or team by walkover or default without play having commenced, all bets on that map and on the matchup as a whole are void and stakes refunded. Bets relating only to maps that are played stand. A map is deemed to have started as soon as the game clock starts or either team or player takes a game action relating to that map, including picks, bans and weapon purchases.

League of Legends

Towers - all destroyed towers count as having been destroyed by the opposing team even if the last hit was from a minion.
Inhibitors - all destroyed inhibitors count as having been destroyed by the opposing team even if the last hit was from a minion. For bets involving the number of inhibitors destroyed, each of the six inhibitors counts only once, even if it is destroyed, respawns and is destroyed again. For bets involving the next inhibitor destroyed, each destruction of an inhibitor counts separately, even where it has respawned and is being destroyed for a second or subsequent time.
For bets involving kills (inc “First Blood”, which in League of Legends is synonymous with the first kill on the map), the official broadcast or game API if available is definitive in determining whether the death of a Champion counts as a kill. For example, where a Champion is killed by tower or minion damage without the involvement of an enemy Champion this may not be registered as a kill on the broadcast, in which case it does not count as a kill for bet settlement purposes.
For bets involving the next team to score a particular objective or the team to score the most of a particular objective, where a “neither” or “draw” option is offered and is the winning outcome, bets on either team are losers. Where no such selection is offered and neither team is a winner, all bets on the market are void and stakes refunded.

Surrenders

Where one team surrenders, bets stand and are settled as follows. For bets involving the map winner, the winning team is the team that did not surrender.
Bets involving dragons, barons and kills are settled based on the situation at the time the surrender takes place.
Bets involving towers and inhibitors are settled as if the winning team had destroyed the minimum number of additional towers and / or inhibitors theoretically required to win the game normally from the position when the surrender occurred. For example, if any inhibitor of the losing team is down at the time of surrender then no additional inhibitor is deemed to have been destroyed. If no inhibitor of the losing team is down then the winning team is deemed to have destroyed one additional inhibitor, with priority given to an inhibitor that has already been destroyed if such an inhibitor exists and has respawned. If the winning team has destroyed all tier 1 towers and one tier 2 tower, then it will be deemed to have destroye three further towers (seven in total), since it would have needed to destroy at least one tier 3 tower and the two nexus towers to have won the game normally from that position.

DOTA2

Towers - all destroyed towers count as having been destroyed by the opposing team even if the last hit was from a minion.
Barracks - all destroyed barracks count as having been destroyed by the opposing team even if the last hit was from a minion. The ranged and melee barracks in each pair count as separate barracks, so that each team has a total of six barracks.
Kills (other than “First Blood”) - the official broadcast or game API if available is definitive in determining whether the death of a Champion counts as a kill. E.G. where a Champion is killed by tower or minion damage without the involvement of an enemy Champion this may not be registered as a kill on the broadcast, in which case it does not count as a kill for bet settlement purposes.
First Blood - The broadcast or official API score must register the kill as First Blood. Where, for example, a kill is denied by a team-mate, it may not be counted as First Blood (regardless of whether it is registered as a kill on the broadcast kill counter), in which case it will not count as First Blood for bet settlement purposes. For the avoidance of doubt, all kill markets other than “First Blood” are settled based on the kill counter, but a kill that is registered on the kill counter will count as First Blood only if is announced as such.
Roshans - the team that scores the last hit on Roshan as determined by the broadcast or game API if available is deemed to have slain Roshan, regardless of the player who picks up the aegis of the immortal.
Next team to score a particular objective or the team to score the most of a particular objective - where a “neither” or “draw” option is offered and is the winning outcome, bets on either team are losers. Where no such selection is offered and neither team is a winner, all bets on the market are void and stakes refunded

Surrenders

Where one team surrenders, bets stand and are settled as follows:
For bets involving the map winner, the winning team is the team that did not surrender.
Bets involving Roshans, barracks and kills are settled based on the situation at the time the surrender takes place.
Bets involving towers are settled as if the winning team had destroyed the minimum number of additional towers theoretically required to win the game normally from the position when the surrender occurred. For example, if the winning team has destroyed all tier 1 towers and one tier 2 tower, then it will be deemed to have destroyed three further towers (seven in total), since it would have needed to destroy at least one tier 3 tower and the two ancient towers to have won the game normally from that position.

Counter Strike: GO

Most map bets are based on the scheduled number of rounds (usually best of 30) excluding extra rounds played in the event of a draw. If, however, a map winner market is offered without a “draw” selection then this is settled in favour of the overall winner of the map (inc ET if played)

15 Financial Bets
- – bets will be settled depending on whether or not the FTSE100 finishes ‘Up’, stays the same or finishes ‘Down’ for the relevant period. The market will be settled based on the price change of the FTSE100. The price change will be measured using the first price stamp of the period, and then the first price stamp of the close time of the period, with all price stamps being taken from Bloomberg. For periods ending at the close of the day’s trading, the official closing price will be used and not the first price stamp of the period close time.
- – bets will be settled depending on the value of the UK Base Rate (the “Rate”) after the next scheduled Bank of England (MPC) meeting. If a Rate change is announced before the scheduled meeting and the scheduled meeting goes ahead, Betfair will settle this market on what the Rate is immediately after the scheduled meeting. If a Rate change is announced before the scheduled meeting and the scheduled meeting is cancelled (or does not take place at the scheduled time and date), Betfair will void all bets that are matched after the time of the Rate change announcement and will settle this market on the newly announced Rate. If the Rate percentage announced is in any increment other than the standard (i.e. x.00, x.25, x.50 or x.75), Betfair will void this market (for example, 4.33% will result in the market being void).
16 GAA
- Extra time not included (unless otherwise stated). Markets settled on the 60/70 minute result.
- Any match abandoned before completion will be declared void unless an official result is declared by the governing body. All other markets will be deemed void unless their result is already determined.
- Player points. This market will be settled on the total score (Goals plus points) scored by the named player. The player must start for bets to stand.
- Average points. League/Championship This market will be settled based on the average score obtained by the named player over the course of the entire league or championship campaign (including semi-final and final). The named player must start a minimum of 3 league game for bets to stand.
- Footballer/Hurler of the Year. This market will be settled based on the results of the official All star award ceremony.
17 Golf
18 Greyhound Racing
19 Handball
- Settled on 60 minutes play unless stated otherwise. Extra time does not count.
- If 60 minutes is not completed then all bets will be void, except those that have been unconditionally determined. If an official result is declared all bets will stand.
20 Hockey
- Overtime does not count unless stated otherwise.
- If 70 minutes is not completed then all bets will be void, except those that have been unconditionally determined. If an official result is declared all bets will stand.

21 Horseracing

21.1General

Unless stated otherwise, all individual race markets will be determined according to the official result at the time of the ‘weigh-in’ announcement. Subsequent disqualifications, appeals or amendments to the result will be disregarded. Card numbers are posted as a guide only: bets are placed on a named horse. Information (such as jockey silks, saddlecloth numbers etc) is provided "as is" and is for guidance only. Betfair does not guarantee the accuracy of this information and use of it to place bets is entirely at your own risk.
If a race is abandoned or otherwise declared void, or in the event of a walkover, all bets on that race will be void.
If the scheduled venue is changed after a bet is placed, all bets will be void.
Where a race does not take place on its scheduled day, all bets will be void.
If a scheduled surface type is changed (e.g. turf to dirt) all bets will stand.

21.2Ante-post

Subject to the points below, in ante-post markets, all bets on an individual horse stand whether the horse runs or not.
For GB and Irish racing: if a horse is balloted out, all bets on that horse will be void.
All relevant bets will be void where an event is: abandoned and not rescheduled; or postponed and rescheduled to another venue; or postponed and rescheduled to another day at the same venue with entries for the race being reopened or reverting back to a previous entry or declaration stage provided any additional horses are entered or re-entered and such entries or declarations are considered, in Betfair’s absolute discretion, material to the betting on the race. For the avoidance of doubt, where a race is postponed and rescheduled to another day at the same venue, relevant bets will stand where entries/declarations at the time of postponement remain unaltered or include any non-material addition(s) prior to the rescheduled race.

21.3'Best Odds Guaranteed'

‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ is offered on UK and Irish horse race Winner markets. Best Price Guaranteed applies to any price taken on singles and multiples on the day of event Race Winner markets only (Win and Each Way). It applies to any price taken on singles on the day of event Race Winner markets only (Win and Each Way). ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ is not available on ante-post markets.
Where ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ is offered, bets will be settled at the Industry Starting Price (“SP”) if the SP is bigger than the price taken by the customer when they place their bet. For example, if the price taken is 3/1 and the SP is 4/1, we will pay out at the bigger price of 4/1.
In the event of a Rule 4 deduction applying to a price taken, we will pay at the bigger odds after the Rule 4 deduction has been made to the price taken.
Where no SP is returned, the last price offered by Betfair fixed odds will be taken as the SP.
Betfair reserves the right to withdraw the ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ promotion at any time.

21.4Starting Prices

‘SP bets’ placed on the Betfair Sportsbook or Betfair’s ‘Fixed Odds’ products will be settled on the official Industry Starting Price and not the ‘Betfair SP’.
If no official Industry Starting Price or Industry Off Course Starting Price is returned, bets will be settled at the last price quoted on the Betfair Sportsbook prior to the off of the race.

21.5Double Resulting

All bets placed on UK and Irish horse racing will be settled on First Past the Post AND the official result on the day. Any subsequent disqualification will not affect the settlement of bets.
This offer applies to winning single and multiple bets and the win part of Each-Way bets placed only.
Exceptions: The exceptions where First Past the Post does not apply and bets are only settled according to the official result are:
- A selection taking the wrong course
- A selection carrying the wrong weight or the jockey failing to weigh-in
- Any bets placed at a Non UK/IRE race meetings
- A Forecast or Tricast bet
- A void race
- Any Tote/Pari-Mutuel bet
- A selection given as the winner in error by the judge

21.6Match Betting

Where we offer match betting (i.e. where we select two or more horses in a particular race to compete against each other in a match bet), all bets will be settled in accordance with the Rules of Racing of the British Horse Racing Authority which are then in force (and results will be determined according to the official returns in the following day’s Racing Post).
Bets are settled on the best finishing position.
For flat racing, if two or more of the named horses do not complete the course, the placing of those horses in relation to each other shall be determined, and bets shall be settled, according to the distance travelled by each horse (according to the official returns in the following day’s Racing Post).
For National Hunt races, if two or more of the named horses do not complete the course, the placing of those horses in relation to each other shall be determined, and bets shall be settled, according to the number of obstacles cleared by each horse (according to the official returns in the following day’s Racing Post). If both horses clear the same number of fences/hurdles, bets will be void.

21.7Place Terms

Each-way bets (Win and Place) are offered for the majority of races. For all horse races (at Early Price, Show Price and S.P) the each-way terms are affected by the type of race and the number of runners taking part and these terms are as follows:

The ‘Win’ and ‘Place’ part of each-way multiple bets are settled separately (that is, win-to-win and place-to-place).
Once opened, the number of winners in 'to be placed' markets may be affected by further non-runners.
If the number of placed horses is less than the number of potential winners, the winners will only be the placed horse or horses.
If any race is reduced to four runners or less, all each-way bets will be taken as ‘all-to-win’ given that there are no places.

21.8Winning Distance Bets

Unless stated otherwise, winning distances' bets are on the sum of the winning distances from each race on one particular day at a race meeting.
The winning distance in a race will be the officially declared distance between the first two horses past the post. However if either the first or second horse past the post is disqualified because:
1. of an incorrect weight carried;
2. they have taken the wrong course;
3. the jockey of either horse fails to weigh in, or weighs in light after the race; then in each case the winning distance shall be that between the first and second horse under the official result.
For the purpose of this bet, the maximum distance on any individual race will be 12 lengths for Flat races and 30 lengths for National Hunt races (which includes National Hunt Flat Races) and these distances will be applied where only one horse finishes a race.
For distances below half a length, the following scale will be applied:
- Nose: 0.05 length
- Short-head: 0.1
- Head: 0.2
- Short-neck: 0.25
- Neck: 0.3
If a meeting has three or more races abandoned or declared void, then all 'winning distance' bets will be void.
When only one or two races are abandoned or declared void, then 'winning distance' bets will be settled with a default distance used for each abandoned or void race. The default distances are 2 lengths for Flat races and 10 lengths for National Hunt races.
In the case of a walkover the following distances will be applied:
- Flat: 5 lengths
- National Hunt: 12 lengths

21.9Betfair Non-Runner Rule

If a horse comes under Starter's Orders but refuses to race, the bet will be a loser.
With the exception of ante-post bets as described above, in all horse races where a runner is withdrawn, or adjudged not to have started - and therefore been declared a Non-Runner by the starter - stakes on that selection will be refunded.
Bets on the remaining runners in that race, where a price has been taken, may be subject to a deduction. This is based on Tattersalls Rule 4(c) (see below) and is dependent on the withdrawn horse’s price at the time it was withdrawn.
Bets on horses in reformed markets that subsequently have one or more withdrawn horses may also have a deduction applied based on the prices of any withdrawn horse(s) at the time of the withdrawal(s).
In the event that there is insufficient time to form a new market on the race, bets placed at starting price may also be subject to a deduction based on Tattersalls Rule 4(c).
For bets where a price is taken, the application of Rule 4(c) will be determined by the last Betfair price available at the time the relevant horse is withdrawn.

Deductions in the pound will be applied based on the odds of any withdrawn horse as follows:

If there are two or more withdrawals in one event, the deduction will not exceed 90p. If the price of a withdrawn selection is not quoted in the above table, then Rule 4(c) will be applied at the next highest price quoted. For example 21/5 would be classed in the 9/2 bracket for Rule 4 purposes.
Reserves: In races with reserves, reserves will generally be priced up within the market. However if any bets are taken prior to a reserve horse being declared to run and where the reserve was not priced up at the time the bet was placed, then any such bets will be settled on the result 'without the reserve runner(s)'. Each way bets settled on the result "without the reserve runner(s)" will be based on the number of runners, excluding reserves, that start the race. In races where reserves are priced but do not run, Betfair may make a Rule 4 deduction in accordance with the above Betfair Non-Runner Rule.
Incorrect withdrawals: If a horse is removed from a market but subsequently takes part in the race, then all bets on that selection will be made void and stakes refunded at the point that the selection was removed from the market. At the point that the horse is re-instated in the market, all original bets will be replaced subject to customers having available funds in their account. If a customer does not have available funds within their account at the time of re-instatement, the voided bet will not be replaced.

21.10Betting Without the Favourite

For the purposes of this bet, the ‘Without” selection(s) will be the shortest price horse(s) as determined by Betfair early prices at the time the market is created.
For settlement purposes the “Without” selection’s finishing position will be ignored.
The Each-way terms used will be determined as per the industry standard terms based on the actual number of runners that take part in the race, excluding the “Without” selection.
In the event of non-runners and withdrawals winning bets are subject to Rule 4 deductions.

21.11Place only markets

‘Place only’ bets will be settled as follows:

The number of places paid will be made clear on the market
Bets will be settled on the official result only
If there are non-runners in the race, then provided there are more runners in the race than the number of places being paid out on the market, then all bets on the remaining runners will stand subject to the deductions below. All bets on non-runners (not under starter’s orders) will be voided.
If, due to non-runners, the number of runners is the same as or less than the number of places being paid out on the market, then all bets on the market will be voided.
If there are non-runners on the market, then the best on the remaining runners will be settled based on the deductions table below.
Deductions are accumulative and so will increase if there is more than one non-runner, but are capped at 95p in the £.

21.12Insurebet 2 places

Where “Insurebet 2 places” markets are offered:

The Price offered is for the horse to win the race. If the horse finishes second, the bet stake is returned.
In the event of a horse being withdrawn, other than where it is withdrawn under starter’s orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersall’s Rule 4(c) based on the win price of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal (see the Tattersall’s Rule 4 table which appears in the “Betfair Non-Runner Rule” section above). For example, if a horse (which is priced at 4/1 in the win market and 11/4 in the “Insurebet 2 Places” market) is withdrawn, then a Rule 4 deduction of 20% (based on the 4/1 win price) shall apply to the “Insurebet 2 Places” market.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event of a race being reduced to 4 runners or fewer, all bets shall be void.
Normal dead-heat rules apply.
Double Result concessions do apply to this market.

21.13Forecast Betting

A "straight forecast" is a bet where you name two selections to come 1st and 2nd in the correct order for a specified event.
A "reversed forecast" is when you name two selections to finish 1st and 2nd in any order for a specific event.
A "combination forecast" is when you choose three or more selections in an event, with any of these to finish 1st and 2nd in the race.
Straight, reversed and combination forecasts are available on horse races provided 3 or more entries run in any one race.
Forecast bets are settled in accordance with the industry Forecast Dividend, except where stated below:
If a Straight Forecast is accepted for a race where no dividend declared, the bet will be settled as a win single on the first selection stated.
If you select a Non-Runner in a Forecast bet, the bet will be void. If you select a Non-Runner in a Combination Forecast, all bets featuring the non-runner will be void.
Customers are not allowed to include 'unnamed favourite' in forecast bets.

21.14Tricast Betting

A tricast is a bet where you name the selections to finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the correct order for a specified race. All tricast bets are settled in accordance with the appropriate industry dividend except where stated below.
Horseracing Tricast bets are accepted on all races for which a computer tricast dividend is declared.
If a tricast bet is accepted where less than 4 runners take part in the race, it will be settled as a Straight Forecast on the selections nominated to finish 1st and 2nd, with the selection nominated to finish 3rd ignored.
If a Tricast has been accepted for a race where no dividend is declared, it will be settled as a Straight Forecast on the selections nominated to finish 1st and 2nd. The 3rd is ignored for settlement purposes. If the bet is a Combination Tricast, every Tricast within that Combination will be settled as a Straight Forecast with the 3rd selection ignored for settlement purposes.
If one non-runner is selected, the tricast will be settled as a Straight Forecast on the remaining 2 selections in the order they were selected, combination bets follow the same rules with each combination settled on its own merit. If two non-runners are selected, the tricast will be void.
If fewer than 3 runners finish a race, the following rules will apply in addition to the above rules:

When only 2 runners finish a race, all tricast bets which have correctly selected the 1st and 2nd placed finishers will be settled as a Straight Forecast. All other tricast bets will be deemed losers
When only 1 runner finishes a race, all tricast bets which have correctly selected the 1st placed finisher will be settled as a SP single on that selection. All other tricast bets will be deemed losers.

If a tricast bet is accepted on a race from a territory where no official Industry Tricast has been declared the dividend will be calculated from the last Betfair prices prior to the start of the race.
Should customer’s select an unnamed favourite in a tricast bet, the selection will be deemed a NR and the bet settled on the remaining selections in the order selected. Combination tricast bets follow the same rule with each combination settled on its own merit.

21.15Jollies vs Rags

For selected races a price is offered for any of the nominated horses to win and a price for any horse other than the named horses to win (known as The Field).If the win market is subject to a collective R4 of 20c or more all bets will be void. Bets settled on the official result. Dead-heat rules apply.

21.16Odds vs Evens

For selected races betting is offered for either an odd saddlecloth number (1,3,5, etc) or an even saddlecloth number (2,4,6 etc) to win a nominated race. Dead heat rules apply.

21.17US Racing

On certain US race meetings, Betfair Sportsbook offer fixed odds betting on US racing. Customers may take the fixed odds price or the SP on these events. In the event of bets being accepted at SP, when no official Industry Starting Price has been declared, all bets will be settled at the last Betfair price prior to the off.
On other US meetings, where no fixed odds betting is offered on US racing, all bets placed at SP will be settled to the US pari-mutual dividents. Please note that all declared dividends are quoted to $2 which means that the actual return to a £1 stake is half of the declared dividend.
Bets placed at the US paris-mutual odds, will be settled at the odds declared by the US host track. Only bet types that have dividends declared by the host track will stand, any bets not covered by a dividend at the host track will be void.
In the event of a race being declared a No-Contest by the host track, all bets will be void.
When no fixed odds have been offered on a US race, Win bets will be settled to the win pool. Each Way bets on races with eight or more runners will be settled to the win and show pool. In races with five to seven runners inclusive, the place part of the bet will be settled to the place pool.
Exacta and Trifecta betting will be settled to the relevant dividend where no fixed odds have been offered.
Coupled horses in the US are coupled across all markets, not just in the win pools. If you place a bet on a coupled runner, the bet will include all runners under the number (e.g. 1, 1a, 1b etc), If one of the entries is a non-runner, your bet will stand on the remaining coupled selection(s).
Coupled horses will not apply to US races where fixed odds have been offered as the runners will be priced separately for betting purposes.

21.18Latin American Racing

For all bets placed on Latin American races, bets placed at SP will be settled at the last priced offered by Betfair prior to the off of the race. In the event that no Fixed Odds prices are offered, bets will be settled at the last industry price prior to the off of the race.
Forecast and Tricast bets will be settled at the last shown Betfair price prior to the off of the race, when an industry dividend has not been declared.
Coupled horses will not apply to Latin American races when fixed odds betting has been offered as the runners will be priced separately for betting purposes.

21.19European Racing

All European racing (Excluding those governed by specific rules in this section) will be settled on the official result provided upon weigh in.
When Betfair offer fixed odds betting, the last price shown prior to the off will be deemed the SP price
Forecast and Tricast bets will be settled at the last shown Betfair prices prior to the off of the race when an industry dividend has not been declared.
On meetings where fixed odds prices are not offered, all bets placed at SP will be settled to the local tote dividends (coupling may apply).

21.20International Racing

All International territories excluding those detailed above will be settled on a Rules Of Racing basis. Territories offered, where an official Starting Price is returned, will be governed by our general rules.
When Betfair offer fixed odds betting, the last price shown prior to the off will be deemed the SP price.
Where an Industry/SIS SP is declared bets placed at the SP option will be settled at those odds and not at the relevant pari-mutual dividend.
When there is no Industry/SIS SP declared and no Befair fixed odds prices offered, all bets will be settled at the relevant tote dividends sourced from the local tote authority.
Forecast and Tricast bets will be settled at the last shown Betfair prices prior to the off of the race when an industry dividend has not been declared.

21.21Special Markets

In the event of a non-runner(s) in any of the races from which the specials have been selected, we reserve the right to revert the bet to SP.
In the event of a non-runner(s) being included in a special, all bets will stand on the remaining selection(s) at SP.
Jockey Specials will stand regardless of jockey changes in the event of the rider being unable to take all/any of his/her intended rides. In the event of a ride becoming a NR all bets will revert to SP on the remaining rides.
In the event of non-runner(s) in the races from which a place only special has been selected our normal place terms will stand, e.g. if we advertise a runner to be placed in a 16 runner handicap and due to Nr(s) the field is reduced in size, the bet will automatically revert to the first three places.
Extra Place Offerings do not apply to place only specials, so when we offer an extra place in the Win/Each Way market, it will not apply to any “to be placed” specials.

Ice Hockey

22.1European Ice Hockey and IIHF International Competitions

In case of a match being postponed, it will be voided unless it takes place within 36 hours of the initial scheduled starting time.
Bets will be settled according to the result declared by the relevant governing body at the end of the match (including any overtime played). In the absence of consistent, independent evidence or in the presence of significant conflicting evidence, bets will be settled based on our own statistics.
All markets will be settled with the result at the end of regular time (60 minutes) unless otherwise stated.
2-Way Match Betting/Moneyline will be settled on result after overtime (including any subsequent shootout).
Should a match be abandoned, all markets will be voided unless the outcome has been unequivocally decided.
All Outright markets include playoffs where applicable.

22.2Overview of Specific Markets (European Ice Hockey and IIHF International Competitions)

Period Markets – Settled on the exact score of the specified period. For settlement purposes the, 3rd period does not include any overtime played. Dead heat rules apply to the Highest Scoring Period market.
Double Result - Settled on the score of the game at the end of the 1st and 3rd periods.
Race to xth Goal - The winner will be the team to achieve the number of specified goals first. Should neither team reach the target, pre-match bets will void. Does not include Over-time or Shootout.
All markets are subject to their respective pre-match rules for the purposes of Live Betting.

22.3Player Props (European Ice Hockey and IIHF International Competitions)

Overtime counts for all player proposition markets. Players must appear on the ice during play for bets to stand. Only goals scored in regulation or overtime count for settlement purposes. Shootout goals do not apply.
Anytime/First Goalscorers - For the purpose of settlement all skaters who are dressed to play are considered runners. In the event a player does not dress for a game bets will be void. Only goals scored in regulation or overtime count for settlement purposes. Shootout goals do not apply for settlement.
Player Total Points - All bets are settled based on player total number of goals plus assists. All totals are inclusive of overtime. If one of the players doesn’t see any game time, then all bets on that market will be void.

22.4US Ice Hockey (General)

These rules apply for NHL, AHL and any NHL sanctioned competition.
All settlements are based on results and statistics provided by the relevant league’s governing body (www.nhl.com).
Games must go 55 minutes for bets to stand. In the event a game is suspended prior to the 55th minute of play bets will be void unless the result of a market has been clearly determined during the normal course of play.
Overtime (including any subsequent shootout) counts for all markets unless stated otherwise.
In the event of a shootout, the winning team will be credited with one goal. This counts for all markets where applicable.

22.5Overview of Specific Markets (US Ice Hockey)

Money Line/Puck Line/Total Goals/Alternates – Includes overtime and any subsequent shootout for settlement purposes. In the event of the total being the exact index quoted, bets will result in a push.
60 Minute Markets – Where indicated 60 minute markets exclude overtime and shootout goals.
65 minute Markets - Inclusive of all overtime and shootout goals where applicable.
Period Markets – Settled on the exact score of the specified period. For settlement purposes the 3rd period does not include any overtime played. Dead heat rules apply to the Highest Scoring Period market.
Double Result – Settled on the score of the game at the end of the 1st and 3rd Periods.
Race to xth Goal – The winner will be the team to achieve the number of specified goals first. Should neither team reach the target, pre-match bets will be void. This market includes Over-time. It does not include Shootout.
Number of Goals/Total Goals Odd/Even - Includes overtime (and any subsequent shootout) for settlement purposes.
Number of Home/Away Goals – Settled on 60 minutes play excluding overtime.
Team to Score xth Goal – The winner will be the team to score the specified goal number first. This market does not include Overtime or Shootouts.
All markets are subject to their respective pre-match rules for the purposes of Live Betting.

22.6Player Props (US Ice Hockey)

Overtime counts for all player proposition markets. Players must appear on the ice during play for bets to stand. Only goals scored in regulation or overtime count for settlement purposes. Shootout goals do not apply.
Anytime/First Goalscorers - For the purpose of settlement all skaters who are dressed to play are considered runners. In the event a player does not dress for a game, bets will be void. Only goals scored in regulation or overtime count for settlement purposes. Shootout goals do not apply for settlement.
Player Total Points - All bets are settled based on player total number of goals plus assists. All totals are inclusive of overtime. If one of the players doesn’t see any game time, then all bets on that market will be void.

23 Motor sport (which may include, amongst others, Formula One, Superbikes and Speedway)
- The start of the race is the signal to commence the warm up lap if a driver is not on the grid or ready to start from the pit lane when the signal is given we will void all bets on the selection.
- If a race is abandoned and no presentation position or official result is declared all bets on that race will be void except for bets on any markets which have been unconditionally determined.
- Bets will be settled on the result of the podium presentation regardless of any subsequent disqualifications.
- If the scheduled venue is changed after a bet is placed, all bets will be void.
- On "head-to-head" bets (i.e. match bets) the driver/rider who finishes ahead or completes the most number of laps is deemed to be the winner, both drivers must start.
- In Speedway, bets will be void if all scheduled heats or races of a meeting or match are not completed except on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
- In any case where there is no podium presentation, but the market states that settlement of the relevant market will be based on the result at the time of the podium presentation, then the market will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
- For Formula 1 “first retirement markets” the following rules shall apply. All bets placed on drivers who do not start the formation lap will be deemed void. The first retirement will be settled on the number lap on which the driver retired. If 2 or more drivers retire on the same lap, then dead heat rules will apply regardless of the time that the drivers retired.
- On Safety Car “Yes/No” markets, a virtual safety car will not count as a Safety Car.
- In the event of a driver switching race teams during race week, or a driver not originally listed entering the field, all bets taken prior to these changes being factored into the betting will be re-settled at the correct price taking into account the team/car change. This is inclusive of all markets offered for F1 and Betfair’s decision is final in this regard.
24 Olympics

24.1Olympics - General Rules
- The final medal table declared by the governing body will be used to settle all bets. Any subsequent changes will not be taken into consideration.
- All bets will be settled on medal/podium ceremony. Subsequent disqualifications or amendments will not be counted for settlement purposes.
- In the event of a team/participant not competing in an event for any reason we reserve the right to apply a Rule 4 reduction.
- Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the market or the sports specific rules below; all bets will be settled according to the rules for the relevant sport and/or the relevant general rule.
- Dead Heat Rules apply.
24.2Olympics - Specific Sport Rules
- Olympic Basketball – Matches are played under FIBA rules. Therefore all bets will be settled according to ‘European Basketball Rules’.
- Olympic Field Hockey - Match betting will be settled based on the result at the end of 60 minutes. In the event of a two-way match betting/to qualify market being offered, then this will be settled on whichever team progresses.
- Olympic Rugby 7s – all bets will be settled according to rugby 7s rules within the ‘Rugby Union and Rugby League’ section.
Rowing
- If a crew or individual starts a race but does not complete it then they will be deemed a loser providing at least one other crew or individual completes the race. If no crew or individual completes a race then all bets will be void.
- If a regatta is cancelled for any reason, all bets will be void, except those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
- Where there is a presentation ceremony, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body at the time of the ceremony, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result.
- If there is no presentation ceremony, outcomes will be determined in accordance with the official result of the relevant governing body, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
26 Rugby Union and Rugby League

Rugby Union Rules
- Unless otherwise stated, all rugby union bets are settled on 80 minutes’ play.
- For Rugby 7s tournaments, all bets are settled on the result at the end of extra time unless the market has a “Draw” selection in which circumstances the market is settled on the result after the completion of normal time. Double Result will be settled after extra time. The “Any Draw” selection will only be a winner in the case of a half time draw in games where extra time takes place.
- For schools and U18, U19 & U20s rugby, all bets are settled on the result at the end of normal time. Extra time does not count.
- If a match is postponed, bets will stand until 48 hours from the original kick off time, after which time they will be void.
- If the venue is changed from the one advertised, all bets on that match are void.
- Any multiple bet reduced by an abandoned, postponed or re-arranged match will stand on the remaining selections.
- If a match starts but is abandoned before its completion, all bets will be void unless an official result is declared by the applicable governing body. Where an official result has been declared by the official governing body, that official result will govern match and handicap market settlement but all other markets will be void unless their result has already been determined at the point of abandonment (i.e. at the point of abandonment, it would not have been possible for the outcome of the bet to change had the match continued to its natural conclusion). By way of example, if 37 points have been scored at the time a match is abandoned: (i) a bet placed on 35 points or more to be scored would be settled as a winning bet, (ii) a bet placed on 30-35 points to be scored would be settled as a losing bet and (iii) a bet placed on 40-45 points to be scored would be void. In such circumstances, bets on last tryscorer / team to score last / team to score last try / last scoring play would all be void.
- Outright Bets: all bets placed on outright markets will be settled on official tournament results. For betting purposes, any team which has points deducted due to breaches of rules and regulations will be deemed a starter. If, at the time a deduction of points is announced, the loss of points means that only one eventuality can occur then all bets on that competitor are void and monies will be returned. Any bets placed after a points deduction may have prices adjusted accordingly.
- All outright markets which state “Regular Season” (or similar) are deemed to mean the official standings of teams after all matches of the predetermined season are played and before any playoff matches have commenced.
- Tournament Tries/Points: Bets will apply to all playing time, including any extra time in any match where an official result is declared.
- To Miss Top 2 / Top 4 / Top 8: For betting purposes, any team which has points deducted due to breaches of rules and regulations will be deemed a starter. If, at the time a deduction of points is announced, the loss of points means that only one eventuality can occur, then all bets on that competitor are void.
- Tryscorers: All bets will be refunded if they were placed on players not included the official match day 22 or 23 (depending on the competition). If a substitute is not on the field before the first try is scored then bets on that player will be void in the ‘First Tryscorer’, ‘First Team Tryscorer’ and ‘First Tryscorer Insurebet’ markets. If a substitute comes on at any stage during the game, they will be considered ‘All In’ for all other tryscorer markets. If they do not take any part in the game, they will be void in all tryscorer markets.
- First/Last Tryscorer: In the event of a penalty try being the first / last try scored, we will pay out on the penalty try option if offered. If the penalty try option is not offered, we will pay out, for “First Try” markets, on the next tryscorer following the penalty try (where the first try is a penalty try) and, for “Last Try” markets, on the tryscorer immediately preceding the penalty try (where the last try is a penalty try). For ‘xth Tryscorer’ betting, if the penalty try option is not offered, we will pay out on the next tryscorer (e.g. if the first try scored in a match is a penalty try and the second try is scored by Paul Smith, then Paul Smith will be deemed the winner for both the first and second tries). If there is no try scored after the penalty try then “First Try” and “Last Try” markets will be void.
- First 2nd Half Tryscorer: Bets placed on substitutes will be void if the first 2nd half try is scored before they come on.
- First Tryscorer Insurebet: If the player fails to score the first try but does score a try in the match then the bet stake will be returned. If a substitute is not on the field before the first try is scored then bets on that player will be void.
- Position to Score First Try: In the event of a penalty try being the first try scored, we will pay out on the position of the next tryscorer for “Position to Score First Try” markets. For ‘Position to score xth Try’ markets, in the event of a penalty try, we will pay out on the position which scores the next try (e.g. if the first try scored in a match is a penalty try and the second try is scored by a ‘forward’, then a ‘forward’ will be deemed to have scored both the first and second tries). If there is no try scored after the penalty try then this market will be void.
- To win in Extra Time: If there is no winner following extra time, dead heat rules will apply to bets on this market.
- Tryscorer Matchbets / Kicker Matchbets / To Score the Most Points Matchbets: Both players must be in the starting 15 for bets to stand. If there is no ‘Tie’ or ‘Draw’ selection offered and the result is a tie then all bets will be void.
- Best Kicking Percentage Matchbets / Kicker Matchbets / To Score the Most Points Matchbets: Bets will be void if both players do not attempt at least 1 placed kick at goal.
- Player Total Points / Perfect Kicking record: Bets will be void if the selected player does not attempt at least 1 placed kick at goal.
- Top Tryscorer / Top Team Tryscorer / Top Points Scorer: dead heat rules apply.
- Regular Season Team Matchbets: dead heat rules apply.
- Head to Head: This market will settled based on the outcome of extra time. In the result of a draw where no extra time is played, this market will be settled according to dead heat rules.
- Line: This market is settled on the outcome of extra time.
26.2 Rugby League Rules
- Unless otherwise stated, all rugby league bets are settled on 80 minutes’ play.
- All bets on NRL matches will be settled on the official declared result including any extra time. All markets other than ‘Match Betting, ‘Handicap Betting, 'Will There Be Extra Time?', 'Highest Scoring Half' and 'Half With Most Tries' will be settled at the completion of any extra time. In Handicap/Line and Totals betting where the value selected is a whole number (e.g. 6.0), and the result lands on that number, then all wagers related to that line number will be refunded, and any such bet will be deemed an excluded leg for the purpose of any applicable MultiBet, which will be recalculated excluding that leg. The same rules apply for State of Origin and any other Australian Rugby League match where extra time is played.
- If the result of an NRL match after extra time is a draw, then the Dead Heat Rule will apply to all bets where a winner has not been officially declared. All winning margin bets, including Dozen Winning Margins, will be deemed unsuccessful bets as neither team has won the match.
- If a match is postponed, bets will stand until 48 hours from the original kick off time, after which time they will be void.
- If the venue is changed from the one advertised, all bets on that match are void.

Any loss of titles after the completion of the Grand Final will be deemed null and void and all bets will stand. All outright markets which state “Regular Season” (or similar) are deemed to mean the official standings of teams after all matches of the predetermined season are played and before any playoff matches have commenced.
- NRL & Super League Wooden Spoon: This market is settled on the team which has the least wins for the season. A draw is considered as half a win. In the event of more than one team having the same number of wins, the outcome will be determined by the worst 'for and against' points total. Points deducted because of breaches of rules and regulations are excluded for resulting purposes. All In. Win Only.
- To Miss Top 2 / 4 / 8: For betting purposes, any team which has points deducted due to breaches of rules and regulations will be deemed a starter. If, at the time a deduction of points is announced, the loss of points means that only one eventuality can occur, then all bets on that competitor will be void.
- Tournament Tries/Points: Bets will apply to all playing time (including any extra time) in any match where an official result is declared.
- Tryscorers: All bets will be refunded if they were placed on players not included in the official match day 17. If a substitute is not on the field before the first try is scored then that player will be void in the ‘First Tryscorer’ and ‘First Team Tryscorer’ markets. If a substitute comes on at any stage during the game they will be considered ‘All In’ for all other tryscorer markets. If they do not take any part in the game, they will be void in all tryscorer markets.
- First/Last Tryscorer: In the event of a penalty try being the first / last try scored, we will pay out on the penalty try option if offered. If the penalty try option is NOT offered, the player who would (in our reasonable discretion) have scored the try (i.e. had foul play not occurred) will be deemed to have scored the try for resulting purposes.
- First 2nd Half Tryscorer: If a player is included in his team's matchday 17 man squad, all bets on that player will stand regardless of whether the player is on the field for the first 2nd half try or not.
- To win in Extra Time: If there is no winner following extra time, dead heat rules will apply to bets on this market.
- Tryscorer Matchbets / Kicker Matchbets / To Score the Most Points Matchbets: Both players must be in the starting 13 for bets to stand. If there is no ‘Tie’ or ‘Draw’ Selection offered and the result is a tie then all bets will be void.
- Best Kicking Percentage Matchbets / Kicker Matchbets: Bets will be void if both players do not attempt at least 1 placed kick at goal.
- Player Total Points / Perfect Kicking record: Bets will be void if a player does not attempt at least 1 placed kick at goal.
- Statistics/Supercoach Markets: All bets on players not in the starting 13 will be void. All statistic bets will be paid at the completion of each round in accordance with official NRL statistics. Supercoach markets will be paid at the completion of each round in accordance with the Daily Telegraph (Australia) results.
- Top Tryscorer / Top Points Scorer: dead heat rules apply.
- Regular Season Team Matchbets: dead heat rules apply.
>27 Snooker and Pool
- In the event of a match starting but not being completed, the player progressing to the next round will be deemed the winner (or in the final the player declared the winner).
- If a player fails to start a tournament or match all bets on that player or individual match will be void.
- If a match is not completed for any reason then bets on 'any correct score' or 'next frame' market will be void.
- If a match is not completed for any reason, bets on any handicap market will be void unless the market has been unconditionally determined.
- First Colour Potted The first colour legally potted scoring its own value (i.e. not taken as a free ball) will be considered the winner, irrespective of whether there are any subsequent re-racks.
- Next Frame - First Player to Pot a Ball The first player potting a ball legally will be considered the winner, irrespective of whether there are any subsequent re-racks.
28 Soccer
- Unless otherwise stated, all bets on soccer markets apply to 90 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any added injury or stoppage time. However extra-time and penalty shoot-outs are not included. The only exceptions are for: matches that are scheduled for a lesser duration (e.g. 60, 70 or 80) as agreed by the laws of the competition in which they are competing or agreed by both sides prior to kick-off. In such cases, all bets will be settled at the end of the agreed game length which includes time added on by the referee for stoppages whether the game length is advertised by Betfair or not.
- For ‘Extra-Time’ markets, bets apply to 30 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any added injury or stoppage time. However extra-time and penalty shoot-outs are not included. In ‘Extra-Time’ markets, bets apply to the result during the extra-time period only. For the purposes of this market the score shall be deemed to be 0-0 at the start of the extra-time period.
- In circumstances where over 90% of the scheduled match time has been completed and the referee ends the match before the allotted time has elapsed then we will use that result for the settlement of all bets placed on the game. Otherwise, if a match starts but is later abandoned or postponed and Betfair believes that the match will not have been completed by 23:59 (local time) on its scheduled start date, then all markets, with the exception of any unconditionally determined markets, will be void unless Betfair has knowledge that the match has been rescheduled to be played within three days of its original start date. If Betfair does have knowledge that the game will be played within three days and the game is played within three days, then all bets will stand except if the match is restarted from the beginning. If the match is restarted from the beginning then all bets matched before the market went in-play will stand, but any bets placed in-play will be void, except for any bets placed in-play on markets which have been unconditionally determined, which will stand.
- If a match has not started (or if Betfair believes that a match will not have started) by 23:59 (local time) on its scheduled start date, then all bets will be void unless Betfair has knowledge that the match has been rescheduled to be played within three days of its original start date.
- In the case of ambiguity over the official result from match officials, the outcome will be determined by Betfair (acting reasonably) using information from independent sources.
- If an official fixture lists different team details to those listed on the Betfair website (for example, the team name, reserves, age group, gender, etc), then all bets matched on the affected markets will be void. In all other cases, bets will stand (including instances where a team name is listed without specifying the term 'XI' in the name).
- If a team is disqualified, thrown out or otherwise removed from a league before the relevant season has started then all bets involving that team will be made void.
- 'Shirt numbers' bets will refer to the shirt number allocated at the start of the match. 'Shirt numbers' bets will include own-goal scorers. Any player whose shirt bears no number will be allocated the number 12.
- For 'time of first goal' bets (i.e. "First Goal Odds" markets), the first half is deemed to last 45 minutes, regardless of stoppage time. Also for these markets, please note that the "0 - 10 Minutes" selection covers the first 10 minutes of the match. In other words, it runs from 0:00 until just before the clock hits 10:00. The "11 – 20 Minutes" selection runs from 10:00 until just before the clock hits 20:00. The same principle applies to each of the other selections in this market.
- For FIFA Man of the Match markets, the market will be settled based on the official ‘Man of the Match’ as determined by FIFA. If FIFA fail to declare an official Man of the Match for any reason, all bets will be void.
- For domestic games live on Sky Sports the market will be settled based on who Sky give the award to during their live broadcast. If no award is made during the live broadcast the result will be settled as the player who is listed as the man of the match in the match report on skysports.com. If the result on skysports.com is different from the result of the Sky live broadcast then the markets will be settled on the result from the live broadcast. For live domestic games on BT Sports, BBC and ITV Man of the match bets will also be settled in accordance to who the broadcaster names during the programme. In the case of games on these channels, if no player is named during the programme then all bets will be voided. The player must be specifically named as the man of the match and not just simply referred to as the man of the match by one of the pundits.
- For matches that are broadcast live on Sky Sports as well as another channel, preference for settlement will be given to Sky Sports unless Betfair have specifically outlined in the naming of the market that the result will be settled on the official tournament or sponsor award.
- Likewise an official tournament or sponsor award outlined in the naming of the market take precedence over the BT, BBC, and ITV pundit’s award.
- Any player who takes the field for any part of a match will be deemed as a runner for settlement purposes. Only players not in the squad or unused substitutes will be deemed non-runners.
- Anytime Score markets, If one or more of the players do not participate in the game, then they will be deemed non-runners and the original price will be reduced by the price of the said player(s), and settled according to the performance of the remaining selection(s). Players will be deemed a participant in the listed market should they enter the game at any point in 90 minutes play plus injury time
- For First/Last Goalscorer markets:
  - All bets placed on players that do not take part in the match will be void. Bets placed on players who take the pitch after the first goal is scored will be voided for First Goalscorer purposes. Players will be deemed a participant for Last Goalscorer and Anytime Scorer markets should they enter the game at any point in 90 minutes play plus injury time.
  - Own goals do not count and will be ignored for settlement purposes. Effort will be made to quote all participants but that will not discount a player that is not quoted from being settled a winner. Bets will only apply to 90 minutes play plus injury time.
  - The following markets will also follow the rules applied to Anytime Scorer betting above:

- For Scorecast markets:
  - Scorecasts are defined as First Player to Score / Correct Score Doubles.
  - Players either not taking part in the game or taking part after a goal has been scored will cause a Scorecast bet to revert to a single on the correct score market at the relevant odds offered at kick-off. Should the initial goal (or goals) be own goals then bets on the subsequent Scorer / Correct Score Double will be deemed winners. If the only goals scored in the match are own goals then bets will be settled as singles on the Correct Score market at the relevant odds offered at kick-off. Should a match be abandoned after a goal has been scored then all bets will be settled as singles on the First Goalscorer market at the relevant odds offered at kick-off.
- For Wincast markets:
  - Wincasts are defined as First Player to Score / Team to Win Doubles.
  - Should a player not have taken the field by the time the first goal has been scored then bets will be settled as singles on the Match Odds market at the relevant odds offered at kick-off.
  - Should the initial goal (or goals) be own goals then bets on the subsequent Scorer / Result Double will be deemed winners.
- For 'Top Goalscorer' markets:
  - all bets stand irrespective of whether or not the player takes any part in the relevant league, tournament or competition. If there is any dispute as to who has scored a particular goal, we will follow the decision made by the relevant governing body.
  - only the goals scored in the relevant league, tournament or competition count. For example, if a player joins a club mid-season any goals scored in a different league will not count. However goals scored for a different club in the same league will count. Own goals will not count
  - any goals scored in Play-Off matches will not count.
  - goals scored in extra-time are included, however goals scored in penalty shoot-outs are not included
- For “Player not to score” markets, Players who are not on the field at the beginning of 90 minutes play will not be considered runners in this market and be settled as void.
- In markets which relate to the number of incidents to occur, such as 'number of corners', these will be determined on the basis of the number taken, rather than awarded. This will also apply to incidents where time is a consideration.
- For markets that relate to the number of bookings given, the number of corners taken, any goalscorer or the time of a particular goal, the result will be determined by Betfair (acting reasonably) using information from independent sources. In such cases, if any new information comes into the public domain within 72 hours of settlement, then Betfair shall (acting reasonably) determine either:
- For Bookings markets the following points system will be used:
- For Bookings markets, cards shown to non-players do not count. Cards will only count that are shown to players after they take the pitch for the first time and before they leave the pitch for the final time.
- For ‘Shown a Card’ markets, the player does not need to play the full match and bets will stand if the player plays any part in the match. Bets will be void on any player that does not play any part in the match. In any dispute over whether or not a card was shown, Betfair will settle the market when the ruling body has given its verdict. Subsequent appeals or rulings will not be considered. Cards will only count which are shown to players after they take the pitch for the first time and before they leave the pitch for the final time.
- For ‘Player Carded’ markets, all bets placed on players that do not take part in the match will be void. Players will be deemed a participant for Player Carded markets should they enter the game at any point in 90 minutes play plus injury time. In any dispute over whether or not a card was shown, Betfair will settle the market when the ruling body has given its verdict. Subsequent appeals or rulings will not be considered.
- If a team is relegated from a league because, at the end of a season, it has finished within the relegation positions which are relevant to that league (i.e. usually any of the bottom three league positions), bets on that team to be relegated will be settled as winning bets. If a team is otherwise disqualified, thrown out or removed from a league (i.e. in circumstances other than those where it has finished the season within the relevant relegation positions): (i) if such team is disqualified, thrown out or removed from the league before the relevant season has started, all bets on the affected market will be void (and a new market will subsequently be loaded) and (ii) if such team is disqualified, thrown out or removed from the league after the relevant season has started (or a determination is made by the applicable governing body, during the season, that the team will be thrown out or removed from the league following the season’s conclusion), all bets on the affected team will be void. For the avoidance of doubt, if a points deduction is imposed on a team such that it finishes the season within the relegation places which are relevant to the applicable league, bets on that team to be relegated will be settled as winning bets.
- For ‘Rock Bottom’ markets, all teams must complete all their league fixtures for bets to stand. If one or more teams do not complete all their fixtures for any reason this market will be void. Any fixture that is abandoned, but an official result is awarded, will be classified as a completed fixture, and bets on this market will stand. Any subsequent amendments to league tables after all games have been completed will not affect settlement of this market.
- For Handicap Win and Handicap Bottom markets, goal difference does not count.
- For ‘Top at Christmas’ and ‘Bottom at Christmas’ markets, the market will be settled based on league position as of 25th December regardless of games played and any postponements and/or abandonments. For ‘Bottom at Christmas’ markets, if a listed team is disqualified, thrown out or otherwise removed from the league prior to the 25th December, all bets will be made void on the relevant market.
- For Top Team from a particular Continent or other selection (for example Top South American, European or African Team), the market will be settled on the team that progressed furthest. Should two named teams play each other in the Final or 3rd/4th Playoff, the winner of the match will be deemed as having progressed furthest. Dead Heat rules apply if two or more teams, which have progressed furthest in a particular market, exit in the tournament at the same stage.
- For Team Scoring Most Goals, Team Conceding Most Goals, Team Shown Most Cards, Total Tournament Goals, Team Top Goalscorer, Total Tournament Hat-tricks and City With Most Goals markets, extra-time is included, however penalty shoot-outs are not included.
- For Team Shown Most Cards markets, only one card will count for a second bookable offence. If a yellow card shown is immediately followed by a red card shown the total number of cards shown will count as one. Therefore the maximum number of cards issued to any one player in a match will be two.
- For Player to Score a Goal, Player to Miss a Penalty and Player to Be Sent Off markets in respect of a particular tournament all bets will STAND irrespective of whether or not the player takes part during this tournament. Extra-time is included for such markets, however penalty shoot-outs are only included for Player to Miss a Penalty market and not for the other two. In the event of any dispute as to who has scored any goal we will follow the decision made by the relevant governing body.
- For “next goalscorer markets”, “first, second, third etc goalscorer markets” or any other market relating to a particular specified goalscorer (including “player to score a goal markets”), own goals will not be taken into account. Should the 9nth(next) goal be an own goal then bets on the subsequent Scorer will be deemed winners. The active goalscorer market will always be representative of the next goal to be scored in the game regardless of the previous goal being an own goal.
- For Goalscorer Match Bets markets, the market will be settled on the player who scores the most goals in their respective games out of the players listed (the listed players may or may not be playing in the same game). The ‘tie’ will be the winning selection should both players score the same number of goals or both players not score. Both players must start (but need not finish) their respective games for bets to stand. Own goals will not count.
- For ‘Anytime Correct Score’ markets: This market offers betting on the chosen selection being the score at any time within 90 minutes of the match plus any injury time added. Where a match is 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes plus any injury time added, all selections will be losers. Extra time does not count.
- For ‘Extra Time Correct Score’ markets – this market applies to the result during the extra time period only. For the purposes of this market, the score shall be deemed 0-0 at the start of the extra time period.
- For ‘10 Minute Markets’:-
  - “Goal Scored X – Y” markets are defined as betting on whether there will be a goal scored by one of the teams within the time period X – Y of the event’s match clock.
  - “Corner Awarded X – Y” markets are defined as betting on whether there will be a corner awarded to one of the teams within the time period X – Y of the event’s match clock.
  - “Card Shown X – Y” markets are defined as betting on whether there will be a yellow or red card shown to a player within the time period X – Y of the event’s match clock.

- Where there is a presentation ceremony, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body at the time of the ceremony, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result.
- If there is no presentation ceremony, outcomes will be determined in accordance with the official result of the relevant governing body, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
- Overall winner markets relate to the winner of the overall event and not for individual qualifiers or heats. If there is a presentation ceremony, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body at the time of the ceremony, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result. However, as a customer courtesy we may choose to settle prior to official publication of results.
30 Tennis
- If a player or pairing retires or is disqualified in any match, the player or pairing progressing to the next round (or winning the tournament in the case of a final) will be deemed the winner. This only applies to the Match Betting market (all other markets are void). When this occurs before the conclusion of the first set, all bets not already determined, including match betting, are void.
- All tennis bets will be settled in accordance with the official website for each tournament or tournament’s governing body.
- All bets relating to the number of occurrences of certain events within a tournament will be void if the tournament is reduced in length, postponed or cancelled, except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
- In the case of any settlement disputes, Betfair’s decision is final.
- In the event of a change in the number of sets to be played, bets for the Match Betting market and the To Win First Set market will stand (and all other markets will be void).
- In the event of a tennis event not taking place or if a player is given a walkover, bets on the event are deemed void (in this context, “event” refers to a single match-up between players, rather than the tournament itself).
- In the event of a change to any of the following, all bets will stand:
- Outright Betting/Quarter Betting: Stakes will be refunded on players withdrawn prior to the start of their first match. Markets may be subject to a Rule 4 deduction.
- A tournament must be completed in full for all markets relating to the outcome to stand. This includes: Name The Finalists, To Reach/Not to Reach Xth Round, Big Guns, Stage of Elimination or any tournament specials. For the Stage of Elimination and Not to Reach the Final markets, a player must play at least one point during the tournament for bets to stand.
- Total Games/Handicap related markets: For the purposes of such markets, a tie-break is counted as one game. In the event of forfeited points or games, these will count for final settlement.
- Champions Tie Breaks: In some competitions, matches that reach one set all are decided by a Champions tie-break. If a match is decided by a Champions tie-break then the Champions tie-break will be considered to be the third set. Set Betting will be settled as 2-1 to the winner of the Champions tie-break. Any bets taken in error for the Correct Score market or Total Games market in the third set will be void. For the purpose of bets taken relating to Total Games markets or Game Handicaps markets, the Champions tie-break will be considered to be one game.
- Game or Point related markets: If the wrong player has been set as the server for any individual game (Current or Next Game) then all markets relating to the outcome of that specific game will be void, regardless of the result. In the event of a game not being completed, all bets on the game will be void with the exception of Game to Deuce if the result has already been determined.
- Games / Alternative Games / Exact Games Won Margin: These markets are resulted on the absolute difference in total games won by player A and total games won by player B. For example, if Player A wins 17 games and Player B wins 19 games during the match, the market will be settled based on the absolute difference (which is 2).
- Aces / Double Fault related markets: The match must be completed for bets to stand, except in the case of the following markets: First Ace or First Double Fault.
31 Volleyball
- In the event of a match starting but not being completed then all markets will be void, unless an official result is declared, in which case all bets will stand.
- If a match is not played on the scheduled date all bets will be void.
32 Winter sports (which may include, amongst others, Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing and Ski-Jumping)
- Participants must pass the starting line/gate in order for bets to stand otherwise bets will be voided and stakes returned.
- Where there is a presentation ceremony, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body at the time of the ceremony, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result.
- If there is no presentation ceremony, outcomes will be determined in accordance with the official result of the relevant governing body, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market in order to correct an error in reporting the result).
- If an event is abandoned, postponed or cancelled, all bets will be void unless
  1. the event is completed at the same venue within 7 days of the official scheduled completion date; or
  2. a result is 'called' by the relevant governing body.
- Betfair General Rules will apply for 'match bets'. However in respect of "Nordic Combined" if all competitors involved in the match bet do not start both sections of the event (ski jumping and cross country) then bets will be void.
33 Virtual Sports
- In Race Betting (Speedway, Greyhound, Horse racing and all other types of racing), there is no prize amount, payouts are settled based only on the odds offered. For Forecast payouts we supply dividends based on results; there are no odds offered when placing bets.
- For example: Let’s say a player places a £10 straight Forecast bet on ‘Rider A’ and ‘Rider B’ with dividends of £10.50. If the race resulted in ‘Rider B’ coming in first and ‘Rider A’ coming in second, the bet will be paid out to the player at £105, (£10 x £10.50).

Football Transfer Specials
1. 1.1Player to transfer or not to transfer by set date market
  - Loan deals do count as transfers for settlement purposes.
  - If a player does not move club within a specified time window, bets placed on that player to move club will stand and will be settled as losers. In such circumstances, any bets placed on the player to stay at his or her club will be settled as winners.
  - If the player signs for a club that isn’t quoted in the market, all bets placed on that player to move to a specified club will stand and will be settled as losers. Extra clubs can be added to markets by customer request.
  - The player in question must belong and be registered to the club offered before the specified time frame ends. Any pre-contracts or other similar agreements that confirm business will be completed at a date later than specified in the market will not count for settlement purposes.
2. 1.2Next Manager Markets (club or country):
  - Betfair will select a list of potential new managers at its discretion. Other selections will be available on request. Should a manager not listed be appointed, all bets will stand.
  - Caretaker and interim managers will not count unless they complete at least 10 competitive games and they will then be deemed the permanent manager.
  - Should a club appoint a director of football this will not count in the settlement of permanent manager markets.
  - In the event that a club changes the structure of their management team and does not call the appointed individual first team manager, Betfair Sportsbook will settle the market based on the individual who is responsible for selecting the first team.
Live Special Market Rules
1. 2.1First Goalscorer 3pm Kick Offs
  - Which player from this list will score first from the Premier League games kicking off at 3pm (Scheduled)? The result will be determined by the time on the match clock, not by the actual time. For example, if a game (Game A) actually kicks off at 15:03:00 and the first goal in that game is 15:07:01, the goal will be settled as the 5th minute. And a game (Game B) that kicks off at 15:00:00 and the first goal in that game 15:05:01, the goal is settled as the 6th minute, meaning that Game A would have the first goalscorer. Dead Heat rules apply if the first goal is scored by more than one player in the same minute of their respective games. Bets on players who take no part in the match or who come on as a substitute after the first goal is scored will be void. Own goals do not count for this market. If any of the 3pm games are postponed all bets will be void. If any of the 3pm games are abandoned before half time all bets will be void, unless the result has already been determined. All bets apply to 90 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. Extra-time/penalty shoot-outs are not included.

  - In which minute will the first Premier League goal for this week’s 3pm (Scheduled) kick offs be scored? For 'time of first goal' bets (i.e. "First Goal Odds" markets), the first half is deemed to last 45 minutes, regardless of stoppage time. Also for these markets, please note that the "0 - 5 Minutes" selection covers the first 5 minutes of the match. In other words, it runs from 0:00 until just before the clock hits 05:00. The "6 – 10 Minutes" selection runs from 05:00 until just before the clock hits 10:00. The same principle applies to each of the other selections in this market. If any of the 3pm games are postponed all bets will be void. If any of the 3pm games are abandoned before half time all bets will be void, unless the result has already been determined. All bets apply to 90 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. Extra-time/penalty shoot-outs are not included.
3. 2.3All League or torunament games to have over 0.5/1.5/2.5 goals
  - If one or more of the matches do not go ahead, then they will be deemed non-runners and the original price will be reduced by the price of the said match(es) For example…. ‘All League 1 Over 1.5 goals’ – There are 5 matches due to play and they’ve all been enhanced to 1.2 (1/5) for over 1.5 goals to make an enhanced fivefold of 2.49 (just under 6/4). If one of the teams does not play, then the bet price will be reduced to 2.07. All bets apply to 90 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. 4. 2.4Total Goals scored in a league, multiple leagues or tournaments
  - If a match or matches are postponed following the market being published then the goal expectancy for these matches will be removed and a new total will be created. All bets placed prior to the postponement will stand, but will be settled according to the new total. For example…. ‘Over 72.5 goals in 3pm FA Cup’ – Newport C v Portsmouth is abandoned and goal expectancy for this match is 3 goals, then the line will moved from Over 72.5 goals to Over 69.5 goals. All bets apply to 90 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. Extra-time/penalty shoot-outs are not included.
5. 2.5Penalty Awarded in the 3pm Kick Offs
  - Will a penalty be awarded in the week’s Premier League 3pm (Scheduled) Kick Offs? If any of the 3pm games are postponed all bets will be void. If any of the 3pm games are abandoned before half time all bets will be void, unless the result has already been determined.
