US Horse
Racing (pool betting) Rules
1.
Bets
on all US races placed on our interface are accepted by Betfair and placed
directly into the relevant racetrack pool. All bets are made in US dollars,
although we will indicate to you before your bet is submitted how much you will
be spending in the currency of your account.
Stakes
and returns will always be shown in your account statement in the currency of
your account.
2.
Betfair
will accept bets up to the closure of betting at the US host track. Please note
that in the United States racetrack
pools close for betting purposes when the horses begin to enter the starting
gates so you need to ensure you place your bets in good time. In this context please also bear in mind
that TV/streaming pictures may be delayed from `live`.
3.
Betfair
can only accept bet types that are made available by the host track and for
which the appropriate betting pool has been opened.
4.
Your bets will be settled on the official result using the odds as declared by the host track. Generally, dividends from the track are returned to a US $2 unit. All odds and potential dividends displayed on our site prior to a race starting are for guidance only and are provided to us by the racetracks.
5.
US Horse Racing Win, Place and Show pool bets are subject to a minimum US $2 stake (with US $1 increments). All other pools are subject to a minimum stake of US $1 (with US $1 increments). All stakes must be in whole US dollars. The maximum stake per bet must not exceed a unit stake of US $10,000 or a total stake of US $50,000.
6.
There
is no maximum payout for bets which are successfully placed by Betfair into the
relevant host track pool.
7.
A
maximum combined daily winnings limit from US horse race pool betting of £25,000 (or the currency equivalent) per customer will apply in the very rare
case where, for technical or similar reasons, bets are accepted by Betfair but
not successfully placed into the relevant host track pool.
8.
Betfair
will refund stakes on any race declared a `no contest` by the host track or on
any bets that due to scratched entrants (non runners), cannot fulfil the
requirements of the bet type, for example:
(i)
Win
pools, Exacta pools and the first leg of Double pools offered in contests in
which the number of betting interests has been reduced to less than 2.
(ii) Place pools,
Quinella pools, Trifecta pools, offered in contests in which the number of betting
interests has been reduced to fewer than 3.
(iii) Show pools,
Superfecta pools, offered in contests in which the number of betting interests
has been reduced to less than 4.
9.
Betfair
will apply the US host track`s settlement rules to all US horse racing pool
bets. In particular, in relation to non-runners, refunds and consolations. These
generally include:
(i)
Known
Non-Runners cannot be selected.
(ii)
Stakes
are refunded on Win, Place and Show bets where the selection(s) is scratched
(non-runner)
(iii)
Stakes
are refunded on Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta, Superfect and Daily Double bets that
include a scratched (non-runner) selection. In boxed (combination) bets on
these bet types, refunds are made on all elements of the multiple bet
incorporating the scratched selection(s), bets stand on elements of multiple bets
devoid of scratched selection(s)
(iv)
For
Pick 3 betting if all three Pick 3 contests are cancelled or declared `no
contest`, the entire pool shall be refunded on Pick 3 bets for those contests.
If one or two of the Pick 3 contests are cancelled or declared `no contest`,
the Pick 3 pool will remain valid.
(v)
Should
a betting interest in any of the Pick (n) contests be scratched, the actual
favourite, as evidenced by total amounts bet in the Win pool shall be substituted
for the scratched runner. In the event that the Win pool total for two or more
favourites is identical, the substitute selection shall be the betting interest
with the lowest program number.
(vi)
In
the event that a Pick bet has no winning totalisator entry, Betfair will pay a
consolation dividend as declared by the US host track.
10.
Betfair
will apply the individual US host track settlement rules in regard to coupled
and mutuel fields selections. Coupled and mutuel fields selections in the US
are treated as a single betting entry in ALL pools. Should any contestant in a
coupled entry or mutuel field be officially withdrawn or scratched, the
remaining contestants in that coupled entry or mutuel field shall remain valid
betting interests. If all contestants within a coupled entry or mutuel field
are scratched, then bets on such betting interests shall be refunded.
