Question 1

What football leagues and competitions can I bet on?

Accepted Answer

The Sportsbook covers football from over 40 countries. Core coverage includes the Premier League, Championship, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, Scottish Premiership, Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. International tournaments include the 2026 FIFA World Cup (48-team format, already priced), European Championship, Copa América, and Nations League. Women’s football (WSL, Women’s Champions League) and lower-league markets are also available.

Question 2

What are some upcoming fixtures for Football betting?

Accepted Answer

Popular fixtures that are in progress or upcoming include Chelsea v Man Utd in which you can bet on Chelsea to win at odds of 1.8, Hull v Ipswich in which you can bet on Hull to win at odds of 2.6, Bournemouth v Leeds in which you can bet on Bournemouth to win at odds of 2.1.

Question 3

What types of football bets are available?

Accepted Answer

Standard markets include Match Odds, Both Teams to Score, Over/Under Goals, Correct Score, Asian Handicap, and Double Chance. Player markets cover Anytime Goalscorer, First Goalscorer, and Player to Be Carded. Bet Builder lets you combine multiple selections from one match into a single wager. Build Ups, a feature unique to this platform, pit two players head-to-head on a stat like shots on target. Accumulators, outrights (league winner, top scorer, relegation), and specials round out the offering.

Question 4

What is the 90 Minute Guarantee?

Accepted Answer

The 90 Minute Guarantee pays out your match odds bet as a winner if your team is leading at 90:00, regardless of what happens in stoppage time. A late equaliser in added time will not cost you the bet. If your team is losing at 90:00 but scores a stoppage-time winner, it also pays out. The feature applies to Match Odds 90 markets (marked with a ‘90” icon) on pre-match singles, accas, and Bet Builders. No opt-in is required.

Question 5

What is Safe Sub and which competitions does it cover?

Accepted Answer

Safe Sub keeps your player bet alive when the player you backed is substituted. The bet transfers to the incoming sub, if they fulfil the outcome (goal, assist, card), you win. It applies automatically to qualifying player markets on the Premier League, FA Cup (3rd round+), League Cup, Community Shield, Champions League (group stage+), Europa League, and FIFA Club World Cup. Look for the orange Safe Sub icon in the bet slip. No opt-in needed.

Question 6

Should I use the Exchange or the Sportsbook for football betting?

Accepted Answer

The Sportsbook suits standard bettors: fixed odds, Bet Builders, accas, free bet promos, 90 Minute Guarantee, and Safe Sub. The Exchange is popular with experienced punters: odds are set by the market (often more competitive than traditional bookmakers), with the ability to back and lay, and no restrictions on winning accounts. Commission on the Exchange runs at 2–5% of net winnings, rather than margin built into the price. For Premier League and Champions League, Exchange liquidity is typically high. Comparing both before placing a bet is a simple way to find a competitive price.

Question 7

How does Bet Builder work for football?

Accepted Answer

Navigate to any football match and tap the Bet Builder tab. Combine selections from different markets within the same game, for example, Arsenal to win + Both Teams to Score + Over 2.5 Goals + Saka Anytime Goalscorer. Combined odds update in real time as you add legs. All selections must win for the bet to pay out. Cash Out is available on most Bet Builders, and the £50 new customer free bets can be used on them. Build Ups selections can be included within a Bet Builder.

Question 8

What are some popular Football betting markets?

Accepted Answer

There are many markets you can choose from on Betfair Sportsbook, such as Match Odds, Full Time Result - 2 UP, Match Odds 90, Correct Score, Over/Under 0.5 Goals. There is also a variety of outright markets available, such as English Premier League Winner, English Premier League Top 3 Finish, English Premier League Top Goalscorer, English Premier League Top 4 Finish, English Premier League Top 6 Finish.

As touched on above, there are numerous ways to bet on our football markets. Those wanting to place a wager on a specific game should pay close attention to our match odds. With this betting type, you can bet on whether the home or away team will win or if the game will end in a draw. These odds are calculated by analysing an array of data, including recent performances and opposition strength.

Alternatively, you could also wager on the exact score in a match. This is a fun-filled way of following a football game, and each team's offensive prowess and their recent ability to keep clean sheets determine the odds. Moreover, if goals are something that piques your interests, why not consider a first goal scorer bet? With this type of wager, each participating player offers different returns, with in-form strikers generally being the safest bet as they’re closest to the goal. But remember that defenders are a threat from set-pieces!

Question 9

Where Can I Find the Best Football Betting Tips?

Accepted Answer

Betfair is the place to go for all your football betting needs. Before the match weekend, head over to our website to get the best football tips from every top league and competition, including the Premier League, Championship, and Champions League.

Question 10

How are football bets settled and what does ‘90 minutes plus injury time” mean?

Accepted Answer

Football match odds bets settle on the result after 90 minutes plus injury time. Extra time and penalties do not count unless the market states otherwise (e.g. ‘To Qualify’ or ‘To Lift the Trophy’). The 90 Minute Guarantee adds protection on Match Odds 90 markets. Statistical markets (corners, shots on target, assists) are settled using Opta data. Settlement usually happens within minutes of the final whistle; allow up to 30 minutes during peak periods like Saturday 3pm kick-offs.

Question 11

What responsible gambling tools are available for football betting?

Accepted Answer

All standard responsible gambling tools apply to football markets: deposit limits (daily, weekly, monthly), loss limits, session time limits, time-outs (24 hours to 6 weeks), and self-exclusion via GAMSTOP. Football bets are settled transparently using Opta data, and the full Sportsbook Rules are published online detailing exactly how every market type is treated in edge cases (abandonments, extra time, VAR, walkovers). The platform holds a UK Gambling Commission licence. If gambling stops being enjoyable, the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.

Question 12

What does Over/Under 1.5 Goals mean?

Accepted Answer

It's a betting market based on the total number of goals scored by both teams combined in a match.

Over 1.5 wins if there are 2 or more goals in the match.

Under 1.5 wins if there are 0 or 1 goal in the match.
