Timeform View

Veteran ABERAMA GOLD remains with plenty of zip and could prove the answer to this tightknit sprint given he did best of those in his group when fifth at Ayr last time and can race off a 1 lb lower mark here. Recent Newbury scorer Rage of Thunder rates a big threat though, while Harry Brown and Acclaimed Freedom also need factoring in.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Aberama Gold shouldn’t be inconvenienced if looking to adopt a prominent position: The forecast decent pace still isn’t likely to sway the advantage towards those usually ridden further back such as is Rage Of Thunder.

Timeform Comments

Aberama Gold
Not the force of old (won the 2023 Stewards' Cup) but resumed winning ways in 6f handicap at Catterick in April. Good fifth of 14 at Ayr (6f) 19 days ago, faring best of those who raced stand rail. Weighted to go well eased 1 lb.
Rage Of Thunder (IRE)
Regular slow starter but back on song of late, comfortably landing 12-runner handicap at Newbury (6f) 16 days ago. Up 6 lb but not taken lightly in his current mood.
Twirler
Scored at Windsor in May but hampered start when eleventh of 12 to Rage of Thunder in handicap at Newbury (6f) 16 days ago. No surprise to see this C&D scorer bounce back.
Acclaimed Freedom
Fair 7f juvenile winner. Arrives in good nick in handicaps, fourth of 7 at Nottingham (6f) 5 days ago. Not out of things with cheekpieces back on.
King Of Chaos (IRE)
Notched a first handicap success in 10-runner event at Wolverhampton (6f) 23 days ago. More is needed back on turf from a 6 lb higher mark though.
Ancient Times
Scored at Catterick in May but well held on his last 3 runs, only thirteenth of 16 in handicap at Newmarket (6f) on his return last month. This C&D winner needs to take a big step forward.
Balon D'or
Fairly useful at best for Hugo Palmer. Yet to match that form for current yard, but fared better when fourth of 7 on the all-weather at Lingfield (5f) last time. No forlorn hope.
Harry Brown
Gained a first win on turf at the sixteenth attempt at Lingfield (5f) in May. Went close to another at Brighton (5f) last month and run best ignored (saddle slipped) at Windsor last time. Must enter calculations.
