Timeform View

INSPIRED lines up here one of the least exposed and caught the eye when fourth on turf debut at York 12 days ago, coming home best after finding his path blocked more than once. He has races in him from this sort of mark on that evidence and shades preference over Roaring Ralph who has gone from strength to strength this year. Stratocracy and Yaajooz at forecast longer odds are others worth a look.

Timeform Comments

Society Man (FR)
Got back on track having fallen below last winning mark when fourth at Chelmsford (7f) in March but not in same form either start since, albeit left poorly placed when ninth at Thirsk (7f) 7 weeks ago. Still, others rate stronger.
Stratocracy (IRE)
Ended last year with success at Chelmsford (7f) in November and he resumed following 6 months off with a solid sixth in 22-runner handicap at York (7f) 3 weeks ago. Represents a stable in good form and he commands respect.
Lady Mariko
Picked up where she left off and proved better than ever after 5 months off when successful at Kempton (6f) in April. However, not scaled same heights in 2 subsequent runs on turf and all 3 victories have come in fillies' only affairs.
Livonian (GER)
Fairly useful novice winner (over 1m) for Ralph Beckett who showed nothing after 7 months off/starting out for new stable when last of 11 in handicap at Ayr (9f) 2 weeks ago. Has plenty to prove dropped in trip with a tongue strap now enlisted.
Madame De Sevigne (IRE)
Best effort on all-weather since joining John Butler when third at Lingfield (7f) on penultimate start but added to a patchy record when well-held eighth of 13 in handicap at Musselburgh (1m) 39 days ago. Cheekpieces now reached for.
Empirestateofmind (IRE)
Successful twice last season (long odds-on in 4-runner seller latest). However, hasn't looked a winner in waiting in trio of starts so far this campaign, not on a "going" day at Thirsk (1m) 3 weeks ago.
Obelix
Capitalised on a slipping mark when scoring on the back of a breathing operation at York (7f) in July. Winless since but mark reflects that and not seen to anything like best effect when mid-field in 22-runner handicap on return 3 weeks ago. Does need things to fall just right, though.
It Just Takes Time (IRE)
Tumbled in the weights prior to landing a handicap at Beverley (7f, good to soft) towards the end of last season. Yet to recapture that level of form but did too much in front when finishing twelfth of 22 in handicap at York (7f) 12 days ago. Now 3 lb below last winning mark.
Inspired (IRE)
Wide-margin winner of a Newcastle maiden (1m) in December who was gelded ahead of recent switch to turf and firmly caught the eye when fourth at York (7f) 12 days ago, coming home best after finding his path blocked more than once. Far less exposed than most and of major interest from this mark.
Catalyse (IRE)
Regressive last season for Richard Fahey and fared no better in pair of starts for new yard this year. Has something to prove at present.
Orne (IRE)
Without a win since his 2-y-o days but one of better efforts for present stable (in refitted blinkers) when third at York (7f) on penultimate start. Found himself isolated from a high draw when thirteenth over same C&D since, so certainly not discounted.
Roaring Ralph
Resurgent since the turn of the year, bringing up an all-weather hat-trick at Southwell (1m) in March. Continued in same vein since, beaten only by a subsequent winner prior to resuming winning ways back on turf at Ayr (7f) 2 weeks ago. Looks sure to go well again from 3 lb higher.
War Howl (IRE)
Recorded back-to-back wins last summer but ended the year out of form and he's been out of sorts in 5 starts for present yard. Mark continues to ease but can only be watched until showing signs of a revival.
Anthropologist
Steadily found his feet for current yard this year, building on previous promise when defying a 2 lb lower mark at Newcastle (7f) in March. However, has found things tougher of late, well held back on turf at Yarmouth (7f) 3 weeks ago.
Symphony Of Joy (IRE)
Son of Ulysses who showed definite promise in a trio of novice events but handed a stiff opening mark and failed to improve for switch to handicaps when seventh of 11 in 1m contest at Windsor on last month's reappearance. Had breathing operation since and now fitted with a tongue strap.
Yaajooz (IRE)
Runner-up 3 times last year, including over 1m here. Not seen to best effect in pair of starts so far this spring, again not ideally placed when ninth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (7f) 16 days ago. Better showing not ruled out from what is a workable mark.
