Timeform View

GATA BAN's latest Fontwell second suggests she's in good enough form to take advantage of her career-low mark. Olly Murphy's The Flying Poet rates an obvious danger on the back of his Perth chase debut success. Captain Boudet starts out for new trainer David Pipe on a workable mark and also makes the shortlist with Rian Corcoran taking a useful 5 lb off.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

The Flying Poet traded at more than 10 times Betfair SP twice when winning during its last 5 starts: Gata Ban traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on 3 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Jack To Bat
Fetched £130,000 after finishing second in an Irish point and made the frame all 3 starts in maiden hurdles at around 2½m in 2024/25. That made his 2 handicap chase efforts last season very disappointing, looking a hard ride. Has had a breathing operation ahead of this first run for 12 weeks.
The Flying Poet (IRE)
Lightly-raced 7-y-o who did well in handicap hurdles in the first half of last season, culminating in a 3m Perth win in September. Returned to the same Scottish venue to make a successful start to his chase career 8 months later and there is probably more to come from him in this sphere
Captain Boudet (FR)
Dual chaser scorer for Jeremy Scott who ended his time for that stable with respectable 14 lengths second at Exeter (19f, good to soft) in March. Just 1 lb above his last winning mark now setting out for a new yard enjoying a decent spell. A first-time visor replaces his usual blinkers/cheekpieces.
Jullou De Grissay (FR)
Winner of a 23f handicap hurdle at Worcester for Max Comley last summer. Below that level on both comeback starts for Charlie Longsdon this spring, not looking a natural in the jumping department when distant second on Hereford chase debut latterly. Has had breathing operation since last run.
Axel Bleue
Point/dual bumper winner who was runner-up in novices on first 2 outings over hurdles but has struggled since, throwing in a series of slow and/or reluctant leaps when remote third on Ffos Las chase debut 17 days ago. Cheekpieces are added on the back of that. Has also had breathing operation.
Jongleur D'etoiles (FR)
Winning hurdler who matched that form over fences when runner-up at Taunton in December. Put a couple of poor efforts behind him (made mistakes) when just denied in a small field at Doncaster 12 weeks ago. This more competitive scenario is likely to place more pressure on his jumping.
Redbridge Rambler (IRE)
Back to winning ways in 3m Warwick handicap chase under this rider last month. Should remain competitive off 3 lb higher.
Hall Lane (IRE)
Runner-up on 3 of his 4 starts since joining Fergal O'Brien but he'll need to pull out a bit more if he's to resume winning ways from this mark.
Atlanta Brave (IRE)
Ran better than for a while when returning from a break to finish third at Hereford in March but turned in a lacklustre display at Bangor since. Very well treated on old form but he increasingly looks to be going the wrong way.
Est Illic (IRE)
Temperamental veteran who beat sole other finisher in a point in March but typically proved very hard work when third in 2 hunters since. Opposable back in a handicap.
Gata Ban (IRE)
A fair winning hurdler who took a big step back in the right direction over fences when second of 11 in handicap at Fontwell (3¼m, good, 4/1) 31 days ago. Leading claims off the same mark.
Stay Hopeful (IRE)
Irish point winner at the fourth attempt. Has failed to better poor form over hurdles for current yard, including a couple of handicaps last month, but it's possible a switch to fences could see him in a better light.
