Timeform View

SOMMELIER still looks well treated under a penalty for his win at the Curragh earlier in the week and he can follow up in another competitive event. Jordan Breeze and An Laochmor are next on the shortlist, with Hugo's Girl and Alnofoor also meriting consideration.

Timeform Comments

Sommelier
One-time useful sprinter for Marco Botti and he took advantage of a much-reduced mark in first-time blinkers when winning a 20-runner handicap (20/1) at the Curragh (6.3f, good to soft) 4 days ago. Did well to maintain a strong pace and he could be well in under a penalty.
Thurso
Resumed winning ways from a reduced mark in a 7-runner handicap at Bath (5.7f, good, 13/8) 26 days ago. Up 4 lb having since left Richard Hughes and he's not ruled out for his new yard.
Harry's Hill
C&D winner. Possibly still needed the outing when seventh of 12 in handicap at Dundalk (5f) 12 days ago. Better can be expected this time with regular tongue strap back on.
Lethimfly (IRE)
Lightly-raced sort resumed from 9 months off with a good ¾-length second of 6 to Buddy Batt in Dundalk handicap in March but proved a disappointing favourite there (5f) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces now applied.
Mint Man
Best effort of his season came when fourth of 16 in handicap at Naas (5f) at the start of May but went off too hard in first-time blinkers when eighth of 13 in handicap at Listowel (6.3f, good, 11/2) 7 days ago. Back down in trip in a change of headgear (first-time cheekpieces).
Astute Power (IRE)
Produced his best effort in maidens when third here in October, Went off at long odds and failed to beat a rival having refused to settle at the Curragh on handicap debut and looks up against it again.
Mickey The Steel
Winless since 2024 but has made the frame on 8 of his last 9 starts, most recently when third of 13 in handicap (12/1) at Listowel (6.3f, good) 7 days ago. Back down in trip. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals.
Three Sixteen (IRE)
Little encouragement in 3 maidens for M. G. Quinn last summer and always on the back foot after slow break on debut for this yard when sixth of 7 in claimer at Fairyhouse (6f, good) 10 days ago. Makes handicap debut.
Asdana (IRE)
Winner at Cork last summer. Got back on track with fourth of 10 in handicap at Bellewstown (5f, soft) in April but couldn't back that up when tenth of 16 in handicap at this C&D (good, 15/2) 43 days ago. Others possess more solid overall profiles.
Caffu Zafeen (IRE)
Sixth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good) on his final run for David Simcock when last seen back in June. Needs this yard switch to spark a resurgence after an 11-month break.
Jackie Jump Up
Ended 2-y-o campaign with a very good third in a maiden here (5.8f) in October and returned from 6 months off with a respectable fourth at Sligo (6.3f). Not in same form when seventh at Fairyhouse last time, though she was posted wide throughout and remains somewhat unexposed.
Hugo's Girl (IRE)
After a lesser effort tried in a hood, soon got back on track when third of 20 in handicap here a month ago, faring best of those held up after a slow start. Still looking for a breakthrough victory, but she merits consideration from her reduced mark.
Jordan Breeze (IRE)
Opened his account at Dundalk last October and has returned in top form fitted with a hood, building a pair of placed efforts to make the breakthrough on turf and win a 9-runner handicap at Cork (5f, soft) 19 days ago. Only 2 lb higher, so enters calculations.
Viamonte (IRE)
Lost way last season for W. P. Browne and can only be watched returning from 9 months off now trained by previous handler's daughter (who also owns the horse).
Verified (IRE)
Remains a maiden after 21 runs (trained until this season by Charles Weld). Not seen to best effect under patient tactics when tenth of 16 in handicap (8/1) at Naas (5f, good) 29 days ago and he could have more of an impact here, though others still rate as likelier winners.
Alnofoor
Suited by having a sound gallop to aim at when winning 15-runner handicap over 5.8f here on return before following up 2 weeks later at Bellewstown. Again shaped well when third of 21 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, heavy) 49 days ago and he can be in the mix again.
An Laochmor (IRE)
On the up for his current yard and followed up Lingfield success with victory at Dundalk in April. Translated that progress onto turf when second of 16 in handicap at this C&D (good) 43 days ago and he's shortlisted again.
Polar Bear (IRE)
On a long losing run but continues to shape better than the bare results, his rearward position and less than clear run leaving him too far back at Sligo latest. Eased another 2 lb. Engaged 6.34 Fairyhouse Friday.
Jazzit
Improved performer this year with a trio of placed efforts at Dundalk to start the campaign. Lesser effort on turf debut, but soon got back on track when fifth of 17 at here (5.8f) 22 days ago, despite reverting to starting slowly. Visor now fitted.
Step Back In Time (IRE)
Four-time course winner, 3 of which last year. Has tended to need her seasonal comeback and it looked a similar case when twelfth of 17 in handicap at this course (6f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Could reach the frame if sharper here.
Plushy (IRE)
Placed twice at Dundalk early in the year but down the field on turf on his last 2 outings.
Ballysax Lil' Mick (IRE)
Just 1-26 (scored at Tipperary in August). Lightly raced since, last of 14 at Dundalk when last seen in January. Others make greater appeal.
Happy Henry (IRE)
Isn't straightforward but comes here in good order, making it 3 placed efforts in a row when third of 18 in handicap (5/1) at Fairyhouse (6f, good) 10 days ago. Again carried his head high there, so headgear is changed again (first-time cheekpieces)
