Timeform View

Charlie Appleby has sent out just one juvenile this season but he was a winner on debut and MYSTERIOUS TIMES might be able to follow suit. Newcomers could dominate, with Underdog, Gold Reef City and Princess Ivy also appealing on paper in a novice where the betting could point the way.

Timeform Comments

Courseyoudo (FR)
Green and well held in 5f novices at York and Salisbury.
Gold Reef City
Foaled April 16. Dark Angel colt. Half-brother to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Egoli. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Havana Gold. Highly respected on debut.
Henley On Thames (IRE)
Foaled January 4. €17,000 foal, €22,000 yearling, £125,000 2-y-o, Persian Force colt. Dam unraced granddaughter of King George/Ballyogan Stakes winner Dietrich. Trainer has had a couple of successful newcomers this year and he's worth a look.
Igrok
Foaled March 30. 10,000 gns foal, 45,000 gns yearling, Sergei Prokofiev colt. Half-brother to useful 2-y-o 5f/6f winner Argentine Tango. Dam lightly-raced half-sister to smart 2-y-o 5f-1m winner Hearts of Fire. Bred to be sharp.
Mysterious Times
Foaled March 8. 425,000 gns yearling, Night of Thunder colt. Brother to 6f winner Maelstrom. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner, half-sister to very smart/unreliable winner up to 1m Audience. Only the second 2-y-o to be seen from the yard in 2026 (the first won on debut). Of obvious interest.
Perigord Noir (IRE)
Has shown plenty despite proving keen in 6f Kempton novice and Windsor maiden and he looks up to winning races.
Underdog
Foaled April 14. £140,000 yearling, Perfect Power colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 2-y-o 5f winner Well Done Fox and 2-y-o 5f winner Excellently Poised. Makes a fair bit of appeal on paper.
Havana Grey Star
Green but has shown ability in novices at Nottingham (6f) and Yarmouth. Could still do better.
Princess Ivy (IRE)
Foaled March 8. €22,000 foal, 27,000 gns yearling, Acclamation filly. Dam unraced half-sister to smart 9f-11f winner Majestic Dawn. Yard in form (including with 2-y-os) and has a good record in this race.
Viking Barbie (IRE)
Showed more than first time up dropped to 5f when third at Salisbury 3 weeks ago, sticking on as the penny dropped but no threat to the first 2. Could progress further.
