MILITARY CODE split subsequent Group and listed winners when runner-up in the Roses at last year's York Ebor meeting and is probably the one to beat if resuming in similar form. His stablemate Words of Truth should be capable of a bold bid despite having to shoulder a 5 lb Group 2 penalty. Promising northern raiders Lady Youmzain and Manatee Mehmas are open to further improvement.

Timeform Comments

Words Of Truth
Won Group 2 Mill Reef as a 2-y-o. Below par when beaten at short odds at Meydan (6f) in January. Off since. Drops to 5f for the first time on return to Britain. A 5 lb penalty shouldn't prevent a prominent showing if close to his best.
Manatee Mehmas (IRE)
Looked potentially smart in landing the odds in impressive fashion in 5f novice at Doncaster on debut in April. Signs of inexperience and acquitted himself well when fourth of 10 in 5f York listed since. Remains capable of better.
Military Code
Dual 5f novice winner last year and also a close second in listed races over C&D (good) and at York (5f, good to firm; form boosted) later in the campaign. Leading form claims on return.
Poatan (IRE)
Much improved back from breathing operation when winning 6f Windsor novice last summer. Bettered that form when third of 21 in valuable sales race at the Doncaster St Leger meeting (6.5f, good) on final 2-y-o start. Shorter trip to contend with on return but he's open to further progress. Gelded.
Sirius A (IRE)
Useful colt who was placed in a 6f Group 3 at Kempton and 5f listed race at Dundalk on polytrack last autumn. Matched that form when making a winning return in conditions race at Wolverhampton (6f) but only a respectable 5 lengths fifth of 10 in Newbury listed race back on turf since.
Argentine Tango
Won a Newmarket listed event (6f, good to firm) last June. Hasn't won since but she ran a cracker back at 5f when 3¼ lengths sixth of 12 to Night Raider in Group 2 Temple at Haydock (good to soft) 21 days ago.
Lady Youmzain (IRE)
Hello Youmzain filly who won novices at Beverley (5f, soft) and Pontefract (6f, good) on first 2 starts. Lost unbeaten record but did well in circumstances (had worst of draw) when 4 lengths third of 15 to Rosy Affair in 6f Haydock listed race (good to soft) 22 days ago. Open to further progress.
Our Cody (IRE)
Excellent ½-length second in listed race at Ayr (5f, soft) last autumn. Showed she's trained on well when third of 8 in C&D handicap (good) on reappearance 16 days ago but she'll need to step up again to make her presence felt here.
Palmeira
Fairly useful maiden who has recorded creditable efforts when sixth then fifth in 5f listed events at Bath and York this spring but it underlines she needs more to get heavily involved at this level.
