Timeform View

WEZZEER arrives on a marked upward trajectory and is taken to resume winning ways here, likely en route to better company. Crown Office can be forgiven a disappointing return effort given his connections and rates a danger if able to get quickly back on track, while Spirit Of Saxony, now 2 lb lower than for his handicap debut despite winning a novice in the interim, also enters calculations.

Timeform Comments

Archer Royal (IRE)
Showed sharp turn of foot to win on his Chelmsford debut last summer. Better form in defeat in Group races at Newmarket in the autumn but has gone with very little encouragement on both outings this year, again folding tamely on handicap debut last time. Has something to prove in change of headgear.
Sovereign Ocean (IRE)
Won 2 of first 3 starts (trained by Iain Jardine first 2). Decisive winner of 7f Wolverhampton nursery on Boxing Day for new yard. Freshened up since and yard ticking over nicely at present so it'll be a surprise if we've already seen the best of him.
Utmost Good Faith
Landed a Fairyhouse claimer on final outing in Ireland and enhanced his form further on the all-weather for new yard, winning back-to-back handicaps at up to 1m in January and February. Has failed to beat a rival in last 3 outings, however, and tongue strap now reached for.
Sticktoyourguns
Created a good impression when winning 10-runner 7f maiden at this course on debut and lost little in defeat when attempting to defy a penalty in a 13-runner novice at Newbury next time, beaten ¾ length by Night Patrol. This is more competitive, though, and he's giving up a fitness edge to most.
Malachy's Wish
Dual winner as a juvenile, notably in an extended 7f maiden at Ffos Las and a 7f novice at Newcastle, beating Power For Power by 2 lengths on the latter occasion. Disappointing when last seen in October and will need to rediscover his progressive thread to feature. Has been gelded.
Wezzeer (IRE)
Progressive 3-y-o who built on debut promise when landing a novice at Southwell in April and took another step forward when runner-up to Freddie Steady Go in a similar event at Carlisle last month. Open to further progress now tackling a handicap and very much one to be interested in.
Ironwill (IRE)
Won at Brighton (6f) and Beverley (5f) as a 2-y-o. Shaped as if retaining all of that ability on return but looked unsuited by the step up to this trip at Goodwood last time.
Spirit Of Saxony (IRE)
Saxon Warrior gelding who made most of a good opportunity when cosily landing a 9-runner novice at Kempton in May. That form is working out well and he's entitled to be in the mix if able to build on that effort now back in a handicap.
Crown Office
Comfortably landed short odds in 6f Leicester maiden (soft) in October but was below that level when failing to meet expectations in handicap at Newbury on return. Gelded since and could hardly be in better hands to bounce back.
Cashbox (IRE)
Improved for the switch to nurseries last year, successful at Lingfield (6f) and Newmarket (7f) on final 2 starts. However, after 6 months off (gelded) he ran poorly in handicap back at Newmarket in April.
