Timeform View

This very useful 3-y-o handicap may go the way of Andrew Balding's COMIC HERO, who pulled clear with a next-time-out winner at Newmarket last time. Proud Nation and Masked Warrior appeal as likely improvers now moving into handicap company for the first time, while Startled has acquitted himself very well in similarly strong races this spring.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Startled has traded at more than 2 times Betfair SP twice when winning during its last 5 starts: Just A Girl traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on 3 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Postmodern (IRE)
NON-RUNNER.
Sir Albert (IRE)
Useful 3-time winner as a juvenile. Showed he's trained on when with fifth of 8 in 7f Lingfield listed race at the end of February but well held in 1m Carlisle handicap a fortnight ago. Comic Hero looks the stable number one.
Masked Warrior
Shrugged off a disappointing reappearance when comfortable winner of 7f Kempton novice in first-time cheekpieces (retained) 17 days ago. Open to further progress for top stable now venturing into a handicap.
Do Bronxs (IRE)
Useful effort on his handicap debut after 8 months off when fifth of 12 over 6f here last month but well held at Leicester since. Back up in trip.
Penny Time (IRE)
Raced at 1m on all-weather. First past the post in a Kempton novice on debut in March (disqualified after rider weighed in light) before winning by 4¼ lengths at Southwell 10 days later. Confirmed he's useful when second under a penalty back at Southwell. Switches to turf for handicap debut. Gelded.
Startled (IRE)
Ended 2025 on the up and has continued in the same vein this season, winning 7f handicaps at Newmarket and York. Couldn't live with a smart sort in a valuable race at Goodwood (7f) last time but saw off 15 others and should give another good account.
Proud Nation (IRE)
€320,000 breeze-up purchase and confirmed debut promise when winning class 2 maiden at York last autumn. An extended 1m looked to stretch him when last of 3 in useful novice at Hamilton on reappearance. The drop back in trip looks a good move on handicap debut. Open to improvement.
Jungle Ruler (IRE)
Made a winning debut over 7f at Dundalk for Joseph O'Brien. Followed up in 6f Southwell novice for new connections in January and has run with credit in defeat since. Not obviously well treated enough to win a race like this, though, and the outside stall won't make things any easier.
Jeddaal
Got the better of the useful Red Spells Danger in 7f Catterick maiden on reappearance in April and improved again when third of 10 in 1m Haydock handicap (good) under Ashley Lewis a month later. Winners have emerged from that race since.
Just A Girl
Won 1m novice at Lingfield last August. Good efforts in defeat in handicaps this year, notably her near miss over 7f at Carlisle (good) a fortnight ago. Likely to be competitive again.
Comic Hero (IRE)
Made it fourth time lucky when landing the odds in 7f Kempton novice in February. Improved when edged out by a next-time-out winner at Newmarket (1m, good) 6 weeks ago and looks to have plenty going for him here from a handy inside stall.
