CONSTITUTION RIVER overcame adversity in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly and is likely to be hard to beat in his bid to provide Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore with a fifth Eclipse since 2021. Gethin ran a stormer behind recent Prince of Wales's hero Ombudsman in the Brigadier Gerard over C&D at the end of May and can fill the forecast spot ahead of Hawk Mountain and A Boy Named Susie, who were both behind the selection in France.

Timeform Comments

Gethin (IRE)
Has come a long way in his 6 starts, improving again to bag a Kempton listed race on reappearance. Very smart effort when pushing Ombudsman close (albeit in receipt of 7 lb) in the Brigadier Gerard over C&D (good) since. Likely capable of even better.
King's Gambit (IRE)
Smart but yet to win at Listed or Group level and reportedly in here to act as a pacemaker for Gethin.
Saddadd (IRE)
Took his form to another level when making a winning return in C&D Group 3 (good) in April and backed it up when 2¾ lengths third of 7 to Almaqam in Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh (10.5f, good to firm) 6 weeks ago, pulling clear of the rest.
A Boy Named Susie (IRE)
Signed off his 2-y-o campaign with second in a French Group 1 and bettered even that form when 2½ lengths fourth of 16 to Constitution River (Hawk Mountain second) in Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly (10.4f, good to firm) 34 days ago, faring best of those held up.
Constitution River (FR)
Slammed Royal Ascot winner Generic by 7 lengths on Chester return. A less striking performance visually when beating reopposing stablemate Hawk Mountain by ¾ length in Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly (10.4f, good to firm) since but he deserves credit for overcoming a poor draw. Hard to beat.
Flushing Meadows (USA)
Has shown no better than useful form to date and presumably in here to help set the race up for Ballydoyle, a role he performed for Constitution River at Chester.
Hawk Mountain (IRE)
Group 1 winner as a juvenile. Returned to win 9f Chantilly Group 3 with cheekpieces added in May and visored when excellent ¾-length second of 16 to Constitution River in Prix du Jockey Club back there (10.4f, good to firm) 5 weeks ago. Cheekpieces return now.
