Timeform View

CLONQUEST's form in novice company has substance and very much appealing as the type to improve markedly on the back of a break/gelding operation now handicapping, he could be worthy of siding with to prove his opening mark a lenient one. Harswell Ruby wasn't at her best last time but appeals as the type to bounce back in refitted cheekpieces, with Welbury and Flying Fletcher others to consider.

Timeform Comments

Sailthisshipalone
Made a successful stable debut over C&D (soft) in April and ran well to make the frame on each of his next 2 starts on turf. However, yet to prove himself on all-weather and he ran below that level at Newcastle 11 days ago. Return to turf a plus but all 3 victories gained on ground softer than good.
Flying Fletcher
Scored at Newcastle (1m) in January and has essentially continued in good form, noted doing his best work late on when third at Wetherby (1m) 3 weeks ago. Switch to this stiffer track a plus on that evidence and he's operating from last winning mark.
Rajapour (IRE)
On a losing run but down to a handy mark and he ran well when third in handicaps at Thirsk/Beverley in May. Probably best not judged too harshly on each of his last 2 starts but he does need to keep the slow starts at bay.
Harswell Ruby (IRE)
Winner from 1 lb lower mark over 1m at Thirsk (good to soft) in April. Largely held form well prior to a lesser effort when fifth in a stronger handicap at Carlisle (1m) 2 weeks ago and she appeals as the type to bounce back quickly with refitting of cheekpieces a positive.
War Howl (IRE)
Recorded back-to-back wins last summer for Michael Appleby and, though he's finished well beaten for this yard, hinted that he's not a total lost cause when tenth of 14 at Wetherby (7f, firm) last month, passing the post with running left. Needs to build on that.
Star Banner (IRE)
Made a promising start to his career when third in a 7f maiden at Musselburgh in May and confirmed that promise at second attempt when third in a Windsor novice (1m) 2 weeks ago. Switch to handicaps in his favour now but this probably about as far as he wants to go.
Wetsand (IRE)
Won 2 of first 3 starts as a juvenile but has yet to recapture pick of her 2-y-o form in 5 outings during 2026. Handicapper continues to relinquish his grip but more positive signs need to be shown before becoming of interest. Cheekpieces now applied.
Welbury
Came good in 1m Southwell novice on reappearance and has run to a similar level all 3 starts in handicaps subsequently, albeit again looking a tricky ride when fourth at Musselburgh (9f) on most recent start 2 weeks ago. Can't be ruled out for in-form yard.
Mount King (IRE)
Three-time C&D winner, including around this time last year. Gradually working his way back this year but each of his last 2 starts have been disappointing, offering little off the bridle when sixth of 7 in a C&D handicap 16 days ago. Mark continues to ease at least.
Clonquest
Son of Ulysses who stepped up on his eye-catching debut run when second in a Newcastle maiden (7f) in January. Similar form when third on qualifying run at Thirsk (1m) in April and he's very much the type to progress in handicaps/taking on his elders following a gelding operation. Hood on.
