GOLDEN FLAME snapped a near 5-year losing run in emphatic style at Ffos Las recently and given the manner of that success, a 4-lb penalty seems unlikely to prevent the follow up. He gets the vote over fellow veteran Tazaman, who ran his best race for current connections at Redcar recently but may have to settle for a third silver medal on the spin.

Timeform Comments

Lordsbridge Grey
Improved sent handicapping when third at Yarmouth (1m) on final outing last year but things haven't really gone to plan this season, not fully seeing out the longer trip when fifth of 7 at this course (1¼m, firm) recently. Up another 4f in trip and that must temper enthusiasm somewhat.
Golden Flame (IRE)
Ended a losing run stretching back the thick end of 5 yrs in 7-runner event at Ffos Las (2m, good) 9 days ago, leading 2f out having tanked through the race under this claimer. 4-lb penalty seems unlikely to prevent the follow up provided this doesn't come too soon.
Twilight Safari
Fair maiden at best for Harry Eustace last year but little impact for current connections under both codes, more than likely flattered in a slowly-run race upped markedly in trip when third of 4 at Catterick (2m, firm) recently.
Tazaman
Versatile 9-y-o who was right at the top of his game when third behind a now useful pair at York (2m) last October. Looks as good as ever this season, finishing runner-up for a second start in succession at Redcar (1¾m, good) just under 3 weeks ago. Should be in the mix again.
Nanny Park
Fair form without winning in 2025 for James Fanshawe. Below that level for her current yard though seems to be finding some form again, appearing to prove her stamina when third of 6 in handicap at this course (1½m, good to firm) recently. This extra distance poses further questions.
