Timeform View

NATIVE SPEAKER was most impressive when scoring from the front at Ballinrobe last time and he might be difficult to stop if able to pull off the same tactics around a track which should lend itself well to that run style. Uncle Pat has been most progressive since asked to tackle longer trips and is also shortlisted along with Boston Rover.

Timeform Comments

Amirite (IRE)
Won last year's renewal from a 3 lb higher mark and went well enough for a long way until found wanting for the requisite class and stamina in the Grand National. Respected after a 3-month break.
Perceval Legallois (FR)
Came of age in 2024/25 with valuable handicap chase and hurdle wins around 3m at Leopardstown. However, below that level in light 2025/26 campaign and outings this summer haven't provided much inspiration, including when tried in cheekpieces at Ballinrobe last time.
Uncle Pat (IRE)
Much improved since going up in trip and proved better than ever when easily winning a 19-runner handicap chase (7/2) at Punchestown (31f, good) 69 days ago, Yard don't have the best record in this race but he has to be respected.
Native Speaker (IRE)
Fairyhouse maiden winner on second chase start in November 2024 and right back on the up when winning a 16-runner handicap chase at Ballinrobe (23f, good, 12/1) 46 days ago in impressive fashion. Fluent-jumping front-running style likely to lend itself very well to this track.
Boston Rover (IRE)
Progressed well over fences last summer, completing a hat-trick when seeing off 8 rivals in handicap at Gowran (2½m) in October. Ran too badly to be true at Limerick later that month and hasn't been seen since. Every chance he will get back on track here though.
Olympic Man (FR)
Regressive in this sphere after winning a Naas maiden chase for Willie Mullins but took a step back in the right direction when fifth of 23 in first-time cheekpieces (retained along with first-time tongue strap) in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. Took a heavy fall at Punchestown since.
Solitary Man (IRE)
Enhanced a fine Killarney record when winning a hunter chase there in May but went lazily when fourth of 11 in a similar race (9/4) at Listowel (3m, good to soft) 39 days ago, Mark looks stiff enough back in handicap.
Raglan Road (IRE)
Belatedly matched his fairly useful hurdling form over fences when opening his chase account at Down Royal and capitalised on a drop in grade to double his tally over fences in a 3-runner novice chase at Punchestown (25f, good) 33 days ago by 2½ lengths from Yoradreamer. Respected back handicapping.
Drumgill (IRE)
Landed listed handicap over 17f at Fairyhouse in November. Hasn't gone on from that effort since and remains unproven over a trip this far.
Pride Of Place (IRE)
Bounced back to form in refitted headgear when winning 11-runner Killarney National (3¼m, good to soft) in May and looked as if still in form until a jolting error put him out of the race at Roscommon last month. Not without a chance.
Yoradreamer
Winner of a maiden chase at Wexford (25f) and he didn't look out of place off his opening mark when unseating through no fault of his own in a Punchestown listed handicap in May. Since seemed beaten on merit by Raglan Road in a 3-runner novice back at Punchestown last month. Mark has dropped 3 lb.
Shanbally Kid (IRE)
Useful handicap chaser at best but has failed to complete on last 3 starts and remains an unreliable betting proposition. Left Willie Mullins for Gordon Elliott since his latest outing.
Will Do (IRE)
Long-standing maiden over fences and looks to have lost his way both ability and attitude wise.
Invictus Machin (FR)
Remains with a sole chase success (at this C&D), but good efforts when runner-up on final 2 outings in 2025/26. Continued in decent heart when fourth of 21 in listed handicap at Punchestown (3m) in May and was given far too much to do before being hampered at Ballinrobe last time. Not discounted.
Lonesome Boatman (FR)
Won the Cork National in November before a good third in the Portertstown at Fairyhouse. Out of depth in a Grade 3 novice then showed nothing back over hurdles since the turn of the year but probably still too high in the weights coming back from 129 days off here. RESERVE.
Moonovercloon (IRE)
On a lengthy losing run (trained by Matthew J. Smith before latest start) and disappointed despite a prominent position in the betting when tenth of 12 in handicap hurdle here (3m, good) 25 days ago. Sports a first-time visor from a mark 7 lb lower than when third in this last season. RESERVE.
A Penny A Hundred (FR)
Pretty useful at her best but just a maiden success to her name over fences and below that level in the autumn. Made little impact back from 6 months off when seventh of 15 in handicap chase at Roscommon (25f, soft, 25/1) 32 days ago. RESERVE.
