First-time cheekpieces could be the catalyst for BOLD LIGHT to capitalise on a handy mark. Atlantic City's latest Aintree second is working out well, and she's respected in her bid to make it 2-2 over C&D. Summergrounds and Ceol Draiochta are others to consider in an interesting handicap.

Timeform Comments

Noble Birth
Opened his account in C&D maiden back in 2022. Largely disappointing for Gavin Cromwell last season. Now reverted to hurdles following a heavy defeat for new connections at Perth in late-April.
Bold Light (IRE)
Won pair of Class 2 handicaps in 2024/25 before drawing a blank last season. Failed to see out his race in first-time tongue strap over C&D on latest start in mid-May. Looks the type to benefit from first-time cheekpieces, and he could be worth another chance to capitalise on a slipping mark.
Atlantic City
Capitalised on a handy opening mark over C&D on second start for yard. Ran at least as well when runner-up in a very solid mares handicap at Aintree in mid-May. Would ideally prefer more pace in the race, but she's clearly going the right way for excellent connections.
Lets Mingle (IRE)
Landed the odds in a small-field C&D maiden last May. Placed 3 times in handicaps since prior to failing to get home up in trip at Hexham (23f) last time. Has previously made running (not much pace on here), and could go well if allowed her head in first-time cheekpieces.
Summergrounds
Twice chased home a fairly useful sort over C&D last year. Usually goes well fresh, but he may just have needed the run at Bangor on his last start. Has to be on the shortlist given his record at this track.
Ceol Draiochta (IRE)
Went wrong way from debut second at Ballinrobe (17f) in 2024 and clearly hasn't been the easiest to train in recent seasons. However, there were some positives to take from his return at Kelso in late-May. Now up in trip on second start for yard that typically does well with new recruits.
Pure Gold
Completed a hat-trick in a higher grade than this under testing conditions at Hexham (2m, soft) last autumn. Some way off that form in 3 starts this season, though, and step back up in trip not sure to suit now.
Parikarma (IRE)
Confirmed her return to form for current yard when runner-up at Uttoxeter (23f) last time, shaping as though this drop back in distance will benefit. Probably vulnerable in a higher grade, though.
Struth (IRE)
Fairly useful middle-distance winner on the Flat. Fared better than of late over hurdles when modest sixth of 12 in novice handicap at Perth (2m). Reasonable to think he should stay this far, however, his quirks are well established.
