SOUTH DAKOTA showed marked improvement when fourth in listed company at Ascot 27 days ago and, bred more for stamina than speed, is taken to get off the mark now tackling 1m for the first time. Full Volume left his debut effort well behind when winning easily at Bellewstown 12 days ago and rates the main danger, while Venetian Power is open to improvement.

Timeform Comments

Dakota Jack (IRE)
Foaled January 22. €30,000 foal, €62,000 yearling, Ghaiyyath gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful winner up to 1m Elysium. Yard last trained a winning 2-y-o debutant in August 2024.
South Dakota (IRE)
St Mark's Basilica colt shaped very well under a considerate ride when fourth on debut and took his form up a big notch when filling the same position behind Nola Soul in Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. Sets the standard on latest run and sure to progress again.
Venetian Power (IRE)
St Mark's Basilica colt. Showed promise amidst clear inexperience when 6 lengths fourth of 8 to Giant Sequoia in maiden at Curragh in June. That outing should stand him in good stead and is open to improvement.
Full Volume (FR)
Continued his yard’s excellent record with 2-y-os on their second starts this year when winning a 9-runner maiden at Bellewstown 12 days ago, beating High Morals by 5½ lengths. Open to further progress.
Pints Of Glory (IRE)
€32,000F: half-brother to 3 winners, including 1m/8.6f winner Across The Nile (by Iffraaj) and 7f winner Feel Good Factor (by Dutch Art): dam 7f winner (including at 2 yrs). Yard is 1 from 10 with 2-y-o debutants this year.
Celtic Moon (FR)
Proved much sharper for debut when winning 9-runner maiden at Bellewstown 13 days ago, beating Cashel Queen by 1¼ lengths. This will require further improvement, though.
