PRIDE OF NEPAL is in the form of his life and can defy another 6 lb rise to complete the 5-timer. Recent Goodwood winner Damascus Steel and I'd Go Maniac are next on the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Carnival Day (IRE)
Tends to go well here and shaped encouragingly over an inadequate 8.5f on return. Failed to build on that when seventh of 14 in handicap at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft) 34 days ago and yard form remains a concern.
Naval Command
Lightly-raced sort who stepped up on reappearance/stable debut when fifth of 10 to Ultrasoul at Chester in June despite not settling fully in first-time blinkers/tongue strap. Underwhelming at Kempton since, though he is still somewhat unexposed.
Epictetus (IRE)
Winless for almost 3 years but has been knocking on the door this season over a variety of trips, looking quickly back to form from a long way off the pace when fifth of 10 in handicap at Sandown (1m, good) 13 days ago. Can give another good account but might need things to drop his way to score.
Damascus Steel (IRE)
Bagged back-to-back handicap wins for Denis Quinn around the turn of the year and made his second start for his new handler (previously assistant to Quinn) a winning one in a 7-runner race at Goodwood (1½m) 27 days ago. 3 lb higher now with cheekpieces applied there retained.
Pride Of Nepal
Notched his fourth consecutive win (last 2 under this rider) since switching back to turf when making light of a 48-hour turnaround in a 12-runner handicap at Ripon (1½m, good to firm, 9/4) 28 days ago. Should make a bold bid to extend that winning sequence.
I'd Go Maniac (FR)
Winner at Wolverhampton in November. Best effort since when second of 13 in handicap at Windsor (1¼m, good to firm) in May and shaped as if still in good form having been left poorly placed when fourth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (1½m) 48 days ago. Not one to write off.
Shahbaz (IRE)
Shaped much better than previously for this yard switched to amateur races when runner-up in a 12-runner event at Wolverhampton in February and confirmed that return to form in this headgear when fourth of 9 at Lingfield (1½m, all-weather) next time. Respected after 5 months off.
Jodhpur Blue (FR)
Runner-up 3 times on all-weather earlier in year but found run of good form coming to a halt when well held at Lingfield in March and came a long way from capitalising on his lower turf mark after a break when a distant second in a 3-runner Newmarket handicap 3 weeks ago.
