Timeform View

KINGOFTHEGAME has built an excellent Cartmel record, and he looks hard to oppose in current form despite his recent 5 lb rise. Recent C&D winner Halfway House Lad was disappointing last time but looks capable of bouncing back with Brian Hughes in the saddle, whilst Star Turn is also respected after chasing home the selection here last time.

Timeform Comments

Roxboro River (IRE)
Fair hurdler who arrives on the back of 2 respectable runner-up efforts at Bangor and Warwick. However, he failed to show anything like that level in 2 previous starts over fences, and the stable’s hint of a revival in the latter half of May has since failed to materialise.
Jeteye (IRE)
Notched a second Hexham hurdle win in game fashion in May and has shaped as if still in form both starts since. Didn't make much of an impact on his 2 previous outings over fences, but remains capable of better, with his current chase mark below his previous winning ones over hurdles.
Halfway House Lad
Made a successful stable debut in a 13-runner handicap chase at Hexham (3m, good) in early-May and didn't need to improve to follow up in 9-runner event over C&D (good, 6/5) later that month. Ran too badly to be true last time and Brian Hughes now takes over in saddle. Cheekpieces back on.
Wearelongterm (IRE)
Long-standing maiden under Rules who has been placed 3 times this season (twice over fences) but has run poorly on 2 of his last 3 outings. Others make more appeal.
Star Turn
Returned from a 14-month absence with a pair of runner-up efforts over hurdles at Ffos Las in spring and stepped up on previous effort over fences when filling the same position in an 8-runner C&D handicap last month, beaten a length by Kingofthegame.
Lights Are Green (IRE)
Stopped the slide after 7 months off when third over C&D in May and might've still been feeling the effects of a gruelling race there when pulled up at Hexham 3 weeks ago. Is generally one to avoid.
Kingofthegame (IRE)
Has really got his act together this season winning a handicap hurdle at this course in May before reverting to fences to land a C&D handicap in June by a length from Star Turn despite his rider putting up 2 lb overweight. Well suited by this course and a bold bid looks assured on hat-trick attempt.
Tell Me Again (IRE)
Showed first form over fences when 13½ lengths fifth of 7 to Zumbi in extended 21f handicap at this course last time but remains difficult to fancy.
Judicial Review (IRE)
Has won 3 times at this track, including over this distance, but he's never been the easiest to catch right and has looked increasingly one to avoid of late despite tumbling mark.
Dreamings Free (IRE)
Poor maiden hurdler not long with current yard. Makes chasing debut from 1 lb out of the handicap.
