Timeform View

Although KASPER HAUSER has had lots of chances he might still prove the answer to a contest where few arrive with compelling claims. Darragh O'Keeffe's mount Monntie has reached the frame in 2 similar races since switching to hurdles. Pebble Island should also have a say if bouncing back to the level of his penultimate Bellewstown fourth.

Timeform Comments

Earthwatch (IRE)
Fairly useful 1m winner on Flat for William Haggas. Showed an aptitude for hurdling on both completed starts in the spring. Well held on the Flat last time but potential improver back hurdling.
Bobby Kirova
Modest Flat maiden but made a fair start to her hurdle career with a tongue tie added (retained) when third of 11 in maiden at Sligo (17f, good) 12 days ago.
Champ Young (IRE)
20/1, ninth of 10 in juvenile hurdle at Navan (17f, heavy, 20/1) on debut in December. Needs to leave that well behind.
Direct Approach (IRE)
Fair but temperamental maiden on the Flat for Donnacha O'Brien. Has joined another good yard for his hurdle career but has offered little in 2 attempts 6 months apart. Jack Kennedy is on him rather than stablemate Open Approach but he'll need to take a big step forward.
Green Grass (IRE)
Saddex gelding. Half-brother to 7f winner in France Coolishaak. Dam, 7f winner, half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 2½m) First In The Queue. The betting should help guide to expectations with this newcomer.
Hurling Academy (IRE)
Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Harty Cup. Dam (c116/h116), bumper/2½m hurdle winner, half-sister to useful chaser (stayed 3m) Sraid Padraig. Worth a second look in the betting.
Kasper Hauser
Fair hurdler. Has had plenty of chances but latest third of 16 in maiden at Bellewstown (17f, good) was creditable and he ought to be in the thick of things again.
Nuestro Caballo (IRE)
125/1, ninth of 17 in maiden hurdle at Clonmel (17f, good) on debut 49 days ago. More one for the longer term on that evidence.
Open Approach (IRE)
Fair fourth of 12 in maiden hurdle at Downpatrick (2¾m, good to firm) last month but well held at Limerick since.
Pebble Island
Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Cheekpieces on first time in this code, bit below form when fourth of 11 in maiden (5/2) at Sligo (17f, good) 12 days ago. Claims on his penultimate Bellewstown fourth.
Pillartou (IRE)
Pulled up on his sole point outing and well held in 2 maidens over hurdles.
I'm Gold (IRE)
66/1, thirteenth of 16 in bumper at Cork (17f, good) on NH debut 14 days ago. Makes hurdles debut.
Kenny's Jewel (IRE)
No promise in 2 academy hurdles last autumn.
Monntie (IRE)
Fair maiden on Flat and has reached the frame in maidens at Bellewstown and Cork since switched to hurdles. Likely to be on the premises again with Darragh O'Keeffe riding.
Rosarian (IRE)
16/1, hinted at ability when seventh of 14 in juvenile hurdle at Naas (17f, heavy) on debut in December. May do better.
