Timeform View

It's hard to look beyond ICE JET, who arguably should have made a successful chasing debut here earlier in the month and Dan Skelton's 4-y-o is strongly fancied to make amends despite dropping back in trip. Rocks Up Late should be more at home back over the larger obstacles so he can give the selection most to think about, with Merely A Detail rounding off the shortlist.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Ice Jet traded at a low of 1.06 and Betfair SP of 2.01 when losing last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field and travelled strongly early on.

Timeform Comments

Duke Of Luckley (IRE)
Enterprisingly ridden when winning on reappearance for the second successive season at Southwell early last month. Had his limitations exposed back up 9 lb at Newton Abbot (2m, good) 3 weeks ago and seemingly in the grip of the handicapper now. Cheekpieces back on.
Schmilsson
Winner of back-to-back handicaps at Perth before going off the boil last summer. Has a good record fresh and shaped as if retaining all ability after 11 months off when second of 4 at Newton Abbot (2m, good) 3 weeks ago, plugging on despite mistakes at 2 of the final 3 fences.
Seeyouinmydreams
Capitalised on a big drop in grade when landing odds of 4/9 in selling hurdle at Hexham (2m) in May (sold from Paul Nicholls for £26,000). Yet to fire for new yard (well backed on debut for it) and still to prove he's as good in this sphere as over hurdles.
Gaelic Rambler (IRE)
Runner-up both starts in points and has shown fair form sent chasing this year, putting a poor end to the spring behind him after 11 weeks off when third of 8 at this course (2½m, good to soft) recently. Seems vulnerable to improvers even at this relatively early stage, however.
Merely A Detail
Had drawn a blank over hurdles but emulated her time in bumpers by getting off the mark over fences at the first attempt in 10-runner handicap at Worcester (2m, good) just over 3 weeks ago, pulling well clear with the runner-up. 5 lb rise feels lenient so folly to discount.
Ice Jet (IRE)
Much improved hurdler on the back of a breathing operation, completing a 10-day hat-trick under a double penalty at Worcester (2½m, good) in May. Arguably should have won on recent chasing debut here (pulled clear with improving rival) so obvious claims to make amends despite drop back in trip.
Dog Fox
Looked the likely winner when unseating on chasing debut back in September and while things didn't go to plan in this sphere thereafter, there have been encouraging signs back over hurdles on both comeback starts. Reverts to fences and may sneak a place.
Rocks Up Late (IRE)
A 4-time chase scorer last season who resumed from 6 months off (had breathing operation) with another success in 17f handicap at Stratford in May. Showed more than the distance beaten suggested over hurdles last time and should be suited going back to chasing.
Ghasham (IRE)
Didn't kick on over hurdles for Dan Skelton last season but encouraging start over fences for current yard, runner-up twice before landing the odds back at Hexham last month. Unable to live with a pair of Irish raiders at Cartmel (17f, good to soft) since and likely now high enough in the weights.
