ROMANZA is the one to beat on his seventh in the Chesham at Royal Ascot. He finished ahead of Apulia Bay on the all-weather subsequently and may just be able to confirm that form on return to turf.

Timeform Comments

Apulia Bay (IRE)
600,000 gns Too Darn Hot colt. Didn't go unbacked when promising third (1¼ lengths behind Romanza) at Lingfield. Wasn't given a hard time on that occasion and likely to finish closer on turf debut.
Giant Dan Burn (GER)
Foaled March 5. €140,000 yearling, Stradivarius colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful German winner up to 1m Ghorgan and 9f/1¼m winner Gaheris. Dam, useful German winner up to 7f. Makes appeal on pedigree but we may see the best of him over further.
Romanza
160,000 gns Frankel colt. Built on debut promise with 4¼ lengths seventh of 14 in Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot (7f). Easy to back/ran to a similar level when ¾-length second at Lingfield latest. Sets the standard, though old rival Apulia Bay likely to do better this time.
Vega King (IRE)
€68,000 Lucky Vega colt. Moved well for a long way before finishing 1½ lengths fourth of 5 in a muddling race on debut at Ayr. Has something to find with the form principals, though is a likely improver for excellent connections.
