Timeform View

Preference is for PILU, who looked a useful prospect last year and resumed his progress when runner-up in a strong race at Leicester in May. Having had excuses last time, he gets the vote ahead of the in-form Schrodinger's Cat, with Baker Blue and One And Gone others to consider in this competitive-looking contest.

Timeform Comments

Schrodinger's Cat
Had some strong place form to his name prior to landing the odds at Redcar in June. Took another step forward when just edged out by Naana's Shadow at York a week later, before rallying for sixth in 15-runner contest at Ascot 19 days ago. Merits consideration.
Baker Blue
Useful performance when making all at Wolverhampton in February. Wasn't able to repeat that effort up in grade next 2 starts, but was headed only close home by a thriving rival at Pontefract 13 days ago. Sharp track promises to suit and he can make his presence felt.
Naana's Shadow (IRE)
Much improved sent handicapping this season, recording her third success of the campaign when narrowly denying Schrodinger's Cat at York in June. Not disgraced when 2¾ lengths ninth of 13 in listed race at York 19 days ago, so she could fare better back in handicap company.
Manatee Mehmas (IRE)
Impressive winner on debut at Doncaster prior to acquitting himself well when fourth of 10 in a York listed event. Below-par effort next time, but soon got back on track sent handicapping when 2¾ lengths third of 13 to Naana's Shadow at York last time.
Dazzling Haze
Won twice in nurseries for Simon & Ed Crisford and, making only second start for current yard, got back on the up when making all in handicap at Thirsk in May. However, found things tougher when tenth in Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot.
Miss Yechance (IRE)
Won twice for Jack Morland in Britain at 2 yrs, before bagging a Meydan handicap in January for A Cintra & Julio Olascoaga. After 4 months off ahead of stable debut, did well to finish seventh in Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot (lost a shoe) and she could strip fitter for the run.
Pilu (IRE)
Won first 2 of 3 starts last year and has improved in handicaps this season without scoring, the form of his runner-up effort at Leicester (6f) boosted since. Not ideally placed when fifth of 13 at Newmarket 3 weeks ago, so he's well worth another chance dropped in trip.
Shes Got A Brother
Successful at Southwell first 2 starts and has been shaping up well on turf since, making the frame in handicaps at York and Epsom before 1½ lengths fifth of 15 in listed race at Ayr 6 weeks ago. Went hard enough in front last time, so she could make a bold bid back in a handicap.
River Spey
Promise on turf last season, third in 6f maiden at this meeting, before landing the odds at Chelmsford in October. Doubled his tally in a Windsor handicap last month, though was again slowly away when down the field at Newmarket last time. Will need to start better dropped to 5f.
Old Is Gold (IRE)
Strong-travelling sort had some solid 2-y-o form, including when third on nursery debut (6f) at this meeting. After 8 months off, didn't get a clear run when sixth of 9 in handicap at Sandown (5f) in April, so he's not one to write off back at this venue.
One And Gone (IRE)
Took his form up a notch when making all in handicap over this C&D last month and showed a good attitude when following up at Sandown 2 weeks later. Going the right way and he's respected back here for his hat-trick bid.
Quantum Power (IRE)
Gained a first handicap success at Newmarket in June and has continued his progress to also win both subsequent outings, at Windsor later the same month and back at Newmarket 26 days ago. This is tougher, but further improvement can't be ruled out.
Kolkata Knight (IRE)
Dual juvenile winner who pushed a next-time-out scorer close at Wolverhampton on return. After a couple of lesser efforts, took a step back in the right direction when 3 lengths fourth of 8 to Quantum Power at Newmarket last time. Tongue strap now added.
Noble Vow (IRE)
Showed improved form when winning a Bath maiden (5.7f) in May and followed up in handicap at Haydock, despite having been uncomfortable with the pace back at 5f. Best excused his run at Thirsk last time after his saddle slipped. Off 2 months since (has been gelded).
Call Margot (IRE)
Quirky sort who got off the mark in taking fashion in a Southwell handicap in April. Looked unlucky not to win when second in 3-y-o Dash at Epsom, meeting trouble in running, but wasn't in the same form taking on her elders at Hamilton 6 weeks ago.
U S S Charleston
Opened turf account at Yarmouth in May and creditable fifth in 3-y-o Dash at Epsom, despite not looking entirely at home on the track. Below form back down in grade the last twice, though, never a threat when fifth of 12 at York 6 days ago.
Coyy (IRE)
Off the mark at Windsor in May and bounced back to form when also scoring in 4-runner contest at Nottingham 9 days ago. However, he faces a tougher ask under a penalty in this contest.
Truly Glamorous
Improved performer for current yard this season, following up his victory at Windsor last month with success at Newbury 28 days ago. However, he hung badly right once hitting the front last time and he's 2 lb out of the weights here. Cheekpieces applied.
