Timeform View

A weak race which can go the way of VON TROTTER, who has shown a bit of promise on his last 2 outings having tumbled in the weights. Donald hasn't offered much this season but drops in grade and his best form would give him a serious shout, with Wilde And Dandy taken to complete the 1-2-3.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Von Trotter traded at a low of 15.00 and Betfair SP of 14.00 when losing last time, a race in which it raced prominently.

Timeform Comments

Donald
Went close in 3-runner novice at Musselburgh on final start last year. However, hasn't been able to improve any further since switched to handicaps this year but at least drops in grade this time and pick of last year's form would give him claims.
Wilde And Dandy
Successful off this mark over C&D last summer and showed something akin to that form after 5 months off when staying on for third at Yarmouth (7f) early this month. Only seventh back at this C&D (firm) a fortnight ago, though.
Groundsman (IRE)
Winner at Wolverhampton on final start for Richard Fahey and good third there for this yard in December. Well beaten on turf all 3 starts this season, though.
Sir David (FR)
Winner at Carlisle for Stella Barclay last summer and left his previous efforts for this yard well behind when runner-up there in June. Easy to back and not in same form when ninth of 11 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 29 days ago, though.
Barbuda Bay
Runner-up in a weak 7f Lingfield maiden last summer and looked found out by her opening mark when eleventh of 14 in handicap (25/1) at Bath (1m, good) 49 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere.
Von Trotter
Runner-up in maiden in March on reappearance and turned in his best turf effort of the season from a much-reduced mark when second of 11 in handicap (10/1) at Ripon (6f, good) 14 days ago. Handicapper has left him alone for that and he can go one better.
Sprinting Speed (IRE)
Showed a bit on turf for Richard Hannon last summer (subsequently sold for 8,000 gns). Yet to trouble the judge in 4 starts for this yard this season, despite having had a tongue strap and cheekpieces applied.
Back From Dubai (IRE)
Back to winning ways at C&D in May but he came in only thirteenth of 18 here (1m) last time. Others make more appeal.
Magic Lady Mae (IRE)
Ran to just a modest level for Richard Hannon before being sold for 4,800 gns and made no impact on sole outing for Kevin & Lauren Frost or on debut for this yard 11 days ago.
Mister Mcgregor (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who was placed at Wolverhampton and Chepstow in June but has never been the most consistent and was only ninth of 10 in handicap (40/1) at Chester (7f, good to firm) 22 days ago.
