Timeform View

A trappy sprint in which it could pay to side with STAR MARIAN, who has been disappointing in handicaps since making a winning return in a Wolverhampton maiden but takes a drop in class here with first-time blinkers applied. Reunited with Rossa Ryan, she can get the better of Invincible Crown, who wasn't disgraced at Catterick recently and quickly drops back in grade. Up The Monk can fill out third.

Timeform Comments

Hurt You Never (IRE)
Scored 4 times in small-field races over 5f last year (including over C&D) but has struggled for consistency since. Handicapper drops her another chunk and hopes are pinned on first-time blinkers sparking a revival.
Invincible Crown (IRE)
Has worked his way back to form this season, getting up to lead final strides in 10-runner event at Musselburgh in June. Wasn't disgraced in a stronger race when fourth of 9 at Catterick (5f, good to firm) last month and has every chance back in 0-60 company.
Little Jaybee
Wolverhampton maiden winner last summer but most underwhelming in 5 handicap starts. Has since switched yards since last seen 7 weeks ago and a first-time visor is applied.
Sergeant Mayer (IRE)
Has won at this course but is yet to fire this season, faring little better minus his usual cheekpieces after 8 weeks off when sixth of 11 at Ripon (6f, good) recently. Has plenty to prove at present.
Star Marian
Showed much improved form after 8 months off when making all in a Wolverhampton maiden in March. Beaten only one rival in 3 subsequent outings but there are reasons to be optimistic, dropped in grade, first-time blinkers applied and Rossa Ryan back on board. Worth chancing.
Up The Monk
Responded well to first-time visor when scoring in classified company at Chelmsford in January but more bad runs than good ones since, shaping as if needing the run after 3 months off at Thirsk on latest. First-time blinkers are the headgear of choice and this is his first go at 5f.
