Timeform View

William Haggas and Tom Marquand have combined to win this 3 times since 2021 so perhaps the exciting EXTREMELY ZAIN can improve past some more-established rivals, best of whom may be July Cup fourth Coppull if he's fully effective up at 7f. Last year's runner-up Witness Stand and former Group 1 winner Never So Brave are others likely to have a say.

Timeform Comments

Back In Black (IRE)
Very useful and consistent handicapper but will need to advance his form a good deal to play a prominent role in this company.
Never So Brave (IRE)
Quickly made up into a very smart performer last year, including a win in the Group 1 City of York last August. Has failed to reach the same heights this year but even the form he showed when 5¾ lengths sixth of 12 to Bow Echo in Sussex Stakes at Goodwood recently puts him in the mix here.
Prince Of India (IRE)
Won 4 times over 6f/7f last year and has shown better form in defeat this time round, notably his 2¼ lengths sixth of 11 to Comanche Brave in July Cup at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) last time. The first-time blinkers he wore on that occasion are retained.
Symbol Of Honour
Smart performer who made it 2-2 over 6f here when seeing off 6 rivals in the Group 3 Hackwood (firm) 4 weeks ago. All wins (and very best form) at 6f but he was second in a listed race over 7f as a juvenile.
Witness Stand
Won last year's Lennox at Glorious Goodwood before finishing a good second in this under a Group 2 penalty. Comes here on the back of another good run in the Lennox (length third to Lake Forest) and has no penalty this time.
Coppull
Group 2 winner as a 2-y-o and returned in top form when winning Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Ascot. Very good 1¼ lengths fourth of 11 to Comanche Brave in July Cup at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) 35 days ago. Bold show looks assured if stamina holds tackling 7f for the first time.
Extremely Zain (FR)
Has rapidly developed into a smart performer, winning first 3 starts (including C&D). Lost unbeaten record but advanced his form again when fourth of 16 in International at Ascot (7f, good to firm) 4 weeks ago. Capable of better again for top stable with an excellent recent record in this race.
Northern Champion (IRE)
Useful colt. Won back-to-back conditions races at Meydan at the start of the year and got his head back in front in 7f Chester listed race (good to firm) last month. A lesser run in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood a fortnight ago needs forgiving, though.
Sukanya
Found the best turn of foot when seeing off Touleen in the Fred Darling over C&D in the spring but has found life a lot harder since, including only sixth back in Group 3 company latest.
