FREMANTLE DOCTOR ran a cracker when runner-up on his recent return at Ballinrobe and with this unlikely to take much winning, John McConnell's 8-y-o gets the nod to open his account. Granlahan has been placed 4 times in handicaps this season, so he can give the selection most to think about, with Tasmanian Girl rounding off the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Fremantle Doctor (IRE)
Still a maiden but ran up to his best after 5 months off when second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (2m, good) 9 days ago. Every chance he can go one better nudged up 2 lb.
William F Browne (IRE)
Fair up to 1m on the Flat but not always the stoutest of finishers. Well held over hurdles on last 2 starts and fared little better back on the level when twelfth of 16 at Gowran (9.5f, good to firm) last week. Needs to take a step forward on handicap hurdle debut.
Alentejo (IRE)
Fair maiden on Flat but no impact all 4 starts over hurdles, including on handicap debut last time.
Tradonthebay (IRE)
Has taken his form up a notch this season, doing well under the circumstances when fifth of 15 on handicap debut here (21f) in June. Stretched by longer trip next time but made no impact back in maiden company most recently. Better expected returned to a handicap in a first-time tongue tie.
High Honour
Won this in 2024 but out of sorts on the level when last seen 10 weeks ago. Handicapper given him a chance back hurdling but needs to show much more before becoming involved.
Bowgate Street (IRE)
Sole success came over C&D in May. Bounced back from a couple of below-par efforts when 1½ lengths second of 16 at Kilbeggan early last month but generally struggles for consistency and failed to back that up there a fortnight later.
Urban War (IRE)
Modest 1m winner on Flat. Out of sorts over hurdles this summer and it was a similar story back on the level last time. Cheekpieces reapplied.
Tomas O Maille (IRE)
Out of form since finishing runner-up at Ballinrobe last August. Handicapper drops him another 4 lb but can only be watched at present.
Calm Flight Ahead (IRE)
Fared no better sent handicapping in first-time cheekpieces at Limerick in late-May. Now tried in blinkers.
Invincible Oscar (IRE)
Yet to show ability, including on handicap debut when last seen at Clonmel back in December.
Granlahan (IRE)
Has already been placed 4 times in handicaps this season, most recently when second of 9 at Downpatrick (2¼m, good) 10 days ago, beaten by one seen to very good effect. In the mix again.
Tasmanian Girl (IRE)
Caused a shock when landing a handicap at Thurles in March 2025 for Aengus King but hasn't threatened to add to that success, left poorly placed but still managing to step up on her recent stable debut when sixth of 16 at Cork (17f, good to soft) recently. Not out of things.
Wings Of Africa (IRE)
Has shown precious little in all 7 starts, including 3 handicaps.
