Timeform View

HENLEY ON THAMES looked suited by the step up to 6f when making all in maiden company at Hamilton at the beginning of the month and looks on a favourable mark for his nursery debut. Dubai Champion went very close in a similarly competitive nursery at Glorious Goodwood and rates an obvious threat. The Dancing Pirate and Sovereign Glory are others who shaped well in that same Goodwood contest and are also shortlisted along with God Given Talent, an interesting recruit for William Haggas.

Timeform Comments

Ruler's Pride (IRE)
Won on 5f Ayr debut in May. Met trouble when pitched into the Group 2 Coventry at Royal Ascot next time and a sharp 5f looked against him in the Molecomb at Goodwood since, doing his best work late. Retains potential now moving into a nursery.
Havana Sprite
Completed a hat-trick (second leg a listed race) when seeing off 8 rivals in 6f Newmarket nursery (good to firm) 18 days ago, once again finding a good turn of foot. A very useful effort will be needed to keep the winning run going, though.
Crystal Queen (IRE)
Confirmed her debut promise when winning the 8-runner Hilary Needler at Beverley (5f, good to firm) in May. No impact in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot since but more of chance at this level for a stable no stranger to nursery success at this meeting.
God Given Talent (IRE)
No Nay Never colt who overcame inexperience to make a winning start to his career at Newbury (6f, good). Has come up short in Royal Ascot Group 2 and a listed race back at Newbury (both 6f) for James Ferguson since but could easily resume his progression for top new stable. Tongue tied first time.
Dubai Champion (IRE)
Improving son of Persian Force who shaped well tackling 6f for the first time when narrowly denied in Glorious Goodwood nursery under Ryan Moore 19 days ago, caught late having hung right. A 4 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid, particularly if keeping straighter under pressure this time.
Savage Mariner (IRE)
Showed fairly useful form when second on 6f Leicester debut (firm) in May. Well beaten in Norfolk at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood maiden since. Has been gelded ahead of this nursery debut. Also wears first-time blinkers for last year's winning stable.
Persian Spring (IRE)
Smooth-travelling winner of C&D novice at the Dante meeting. Hasn't built on that in 2 outings since, although he looked unsuited by the track when mid-field in a Glorious Goodwood nursery latest. His stable has recent winning form in this race.
Sovereign Glory
Went from last to first to land a strongly-run Bath novice (5f) in May. No impact in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot but made a good start to his nursery career when length fourth (Dubai Champion second) of 18 at Glorious Goodwood last month, looking suited by the step up to 6f.
Underdog
This Perfect Power colt made a winning debut at Sandown (5f, good to soft) in June but has seemingly had his limitations exposed in a Group 2 and Listed races since. Nursery debut.
Jumeirah Storm (IRE)
Split a pair of next-time-out winners when promising fourth at Salisbury before digging deep to land 6f Doncaster novice (good to firm) last month. Progressed again when ½-length second of 5 to Shadow King in nursery back there (6.5f, good to firm) 27 days ago. Cheekpieces go on. Capable of better.
Peaceful Warrior (IRE)
Knew his job and made a successful debut in 8-runner novice at Yarmouth (6f, good) in May. Ran a little below that form when fourth of 7 in 6f Ascot conditions race since but he's unexposed moving into his first nursery having been gelded.
Elevating
Closely related to a smart 5f performer. Confirmed she's most definitely a sprinter when making it third time lucky at Sandown (5f) this month and creditable fourth in a Newbury listed race since. Nursery debut.
Towelontheterrace (IRE)
Showed much improved form when making all in good fashion at Chester (6f, good to firm) second time up. Respectable fourth under a penalty at Ripon since. Nursery debut.
The Dancing Pirate
Blackbeard colt from a family connections have had plenty of success with. Improved with each of his 4 runs, shaping encouragingly when 2½ lengths seventh of 18 to Revels in Glorious Goodwood nursery (6f, good to firm) 19 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Cheekpieces go on. Considered.
Rlasthope
Consistent since finishing fifth in Brocklesby on debut, deservedly getting off the mark in 12-runner maiden at Southwell (6f, good) 27 days ago. Improvement will be needed from this opening mark, though.
Henley On Thames (IRE)
Persian Force colt who was runner-up twice in 5f maidens before making it fourth time lucky over 6f at Hamilton 18 days ago, looking suited by the step up in trip. His opening mark could underestimate him.
Super Tuscan (IRE)
Transformed by gelding operation when impressively winning novice at Chepstow (6f) in June. 28/1, creditable 2¼ lengths sixth of 18 to Revels in nursery at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 19 days ago. In-form stable won this in 2022.
Note To Self
Too Darn Hot colt who placed in novices at Windsor (6f, good to firm) and Yarmouth (7f, good) last month. Drops back in trip for nursery debut. From a leading yard so improvement wouldn't be a surprise.
Fantasy Force (IRE)
Persian Force colt who hasn't built on his opening 5f course third in 2 subsequent outings. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect on nursery debut.
Bear Lee (IRE)
Looked to be getting the hang of things on debut at Redcar and, turned out again quickly, she won going away at Musselburgh (5f) in June. Creditable fourth of 6 in C&D novice since. Quite a keen-goer so the likely truer pace she'll face in this big-field scenario could play to her strengths.
Sue's Last Chance (IRE)
Showed fair form at best in maiden/novice races over C&D in the first half of the summer. Given a short break (gelded) ahead of this switch to a nursery. Worth a second look in the betting from a mark which looks workable based on his second start.
Brandenburg
Winner of 5f Beverley maiden in May (for Stephen Hanlon) and 6f Hamilton novice in July (for Noel Wilson). Also second in a C&D nursery on penultimate start but this is a lot tougher. Now trained by Ann Duffield.
