Timeform View

The extra furlong will only benefit fast-improving WYMAN, who may well extend his winning sequence. Joseph O'Brien has a strong hand, with Group 1-entered Cannes particularly interesting in a race stacked with potential improvers.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

The pace doesn’t look like being overly strong here and Piazza San Marco should still be served best by being ridden prominently: Wyman might not benefit from being ridden as far back as usual for all the gallop is likely to be a reasonable one.

Timeform Comments

Abbotsford
Well-bred son of Frankel who arrives on the up. Gelded prior to readily justifying strong support in 1½m soft-ground maiden at Galway last time. Should progress again up in trip, for all he faces much better opposition and quicker conditions this time.
Cannes (IRE)
Expensive Sea The Stars colt. Never positioned to justify strong support in the King George V handicap following a cosy course maiden win. Much more impact when chasing home the market principals at Goodwood (1½m) subsequently. Could be a big player over the longer trip (entered in St. Leger).
Highwayman (FR)
Proved a different proposition faced with a more suitable trip when 9-length winner of Killarney maiden (11.5f). This is much tougher, but he's completely unexposed as a stayer (also holds St Leger entry).
Madbadanddangerous (IRE)
Hat-trick seeking improver. Followed up his Ulster Derby success with a useful victory in a very competitive Galway handicap last time. The third has advertised that form since, and he's earned a crack at this level.
Piazza San Marco (USA)
Looked better the further he went when successful at Galway last September. Beaten 3¼ lengths in a blanket finish in Group 1 Criterium at Saint-Cloud (1m) final juvenile start. Holds some fancy staying entries and looks completely unexposed on first start as a 3-y-o.
Trojan Fighter
Opened his account at the third attempt when a wide-margin winner of a Ballinrobe maiden. Hasn't progressed as necessary in better company since, finishing down the field in the Ulster Derby in late-June.
Wyman (IRE)
Showed improved form to get off the mark at the Curragh in late-June. Improved another chunk when following up in 4-runner event here (13f), responding generously having been off the bridle some way out. Progressive stayer can make a bold bid for the hat-trick.
Keepsgettingbetter (IRE)
Has continued to improve since notching back-to-back handicaps at Dundalk over the spring. No answer for strong-staying Wyman when 3¾ lengths second in a conditions race here (13f) last time, though.
Teologia (FR)
Progressive Teofilo filly who comfortably completed a Down Royal hat-trick with a useful performance there last month. Unlikely she's done improving yet, though is the only Joseph O'Brien runner without a Group 1 entry.
