Timeform View

The progressive ADONIUS has a run style that suggests he'll be well suited to York and, with his versatility regarding ground another plus, he's a relatively straightforward choice to come out on top. Dance A Jig's recent nursery success at Haydock is supported by the timefigure and he's respected back up in grade, while Hickory Lad and Dorigo are others capable of being in the shake-up.

Timeform Comments

Adonius (IRE)
Has done nothing but improve, winning his first 3 starts in the spring before an excellent second after 3 months off in the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood (5f). This track will suit his style and he's already proven he's versatile regards ground, so has plenty to recommend him.
Dance A Jig
Naval Crown colt who flopped at Royal Ascot but resumed his progress in no uncertain terms when off the mark in 5-runner nursery at Haydock (5f) just over a fortnight ago. The timefigure supports that performance and he's a leading player back up in grade with the potential for further progress.
Dorigo (IRE)
Has improved with each run, though his waywardness in the closing stages cost him victory in the valuable 6f Goodwood maiden last month. Still early days and should have no trouble with the drop to 5f, though needs to become more straightforward under pressure.
Dubai Champion (IRE)
Improving son of Persian Force who shaped well tackling 6f for the first time when narrowly denied in Glorious Goodwood nursery, caught late having hung right. Ryan Moore retains the ride and well worth a shot at this level.
El Floridita
Off the mark in a 5f maiden at Redcar in May before a much improved second of 21 to an exciting prospect in Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot (150/1). Failed to repeat that effort in the Molecomb Stakes but still an each-way contender in this company.
Hanney Boy (IRE)
Put experience to good use in justifying short odds in 10-runner maiden (8/11) at Cork (5f, good to firm) 29 days ago, just holding on. Fitted with first-time cheekpieces back up in class and will benefit from a return to less quick conditions.
Hickory Lad (IRE)
Well suited by the step up to 6f when doubling his career tally with a decisive success in the Woodcote at Epsom in June. Has shaped as if still in good form in a pair of Group 2s since and has solid each-way claims back down in grade if coping with the return to 5f.
Jaan Ki Tukri (IRE)
Seemed to excel himself when finishing in mid-field in Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot before making the most of a good opportunity to open his account in a 6f Ffos Las maiden. Did too much too soon back up in grade in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood subsequently.
Sale Shark (IRE)
Made a winning debut in good style in 5f maiden at Hamilton in May. Shaped well in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and has shown similar form in listed event/Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood since. Needs more if he's to resume winning ways, though.
Undercover Affair (IRE)
Registered a second win in 5f Windsor nursery in July. However, outclassed in the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and finished last of 5 back in nursery company in race won by Dance A Jig at Haydock on most recent outing. Easily passed over.
Roots In Touche (IRE)
£165,000 breeze-up buy who opened her account at the third time of asking when proving too sharp for a green rival in a match at Nottingham (5f) 23 days ago. Has a lot more on her plate now.
Silesia
Zoustar filly who has displayed a fair level of ability when placed all 4 starts but has plenty to find in this grade.
