Timeform View

The series final can go the way of SECRET HANDSHEIKH, who made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts with a commanding success here earlier in the month. He is taken to land a sixth course victory, with the hat-trick-seeking Arnaz feared most from what remains a workable mark. Twirler and Diomed Spirit complete the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Prefer The Sister (IRE)
Has thrived since joining new connections, scoring at this course (7f) in June and also at Yarmouth and Newmarket last month. Wasn't able to make the most of a good opportunity when second at Chepstow on her latest outing, but she's been given more time ahead of this race.
Dion Baker (IRE)
Front runner who enjoyed an excellent spell this summer, winning 5 times with 3 of those over 7f at this course. Wasted no time getting back on track after a lesser run when second of 6 here 17 days ago, though likely to face competition for the lead in this contest.
Twirler
Successful twice this year, with latest success at Windsor in May. Arrives in good heart on the back of 2 in-frame efforts at Epsom, finding only a 3-y-o handicap debutant too strong 24 days ago. Enters calculations.
Neptune Legend (IRE)
Has done very well since rejoining this yard in the spring after a spell with James Owen, winning at Bath and over this C&D in May. Added to his tally at Bath last month, but never involved up in grade at Sandown on his latest outing. Blinkers/tongue strap back on.
Arnaz
Winner over 7f here at 3 yrs and, having tumbled in the weights, belatedly doubled his tally at Chepstow (6f) on second outing this month. Comfortably followed up back at Chepstow 5 days ago and he's not taken lightly under a penalty.
Secret Handsheikh
Off the mark for the year at Chepstow in June and produced his best effort for some time when also landing 6-runner contest here (5.3f) 18 days ago by 3¾ lengths from Kento, his fifth course success. Could again get a strong pace to aim at and he's a major player.
Giant
It's now 19 runs since his last win but he's made the frame 4 times this summer, including at this trip. Well held the last twice, though would have done a bit better granted a clear run here (1m) 18 days ago. Lurks on a dangerous mark.
Kento
Dual all-weather winner earlier this year who also scored at this course (5.3f) in May. Good placed efforts next 2 starts and soon left behind a below-par effort when 3¾ lengths second of 6 to Secret Handsheikh here 18 days ago, racing closer to the strong pace than ideal.
Diomed Spirit
Has a much lower turf mark and built on the promise of his stable debut effort when winning at this course (5.3f) 16 days ago by neck from Washington Heir. Positive start for this yard and he could be in the mix once more.
Big Time Rascal
All 3 career victories over this C&D, getting back to winning ways in classified event in June. Wasn't in the same form a week later, but making first run since leaving Michael Attwater he landed a 7-runner handicap 16 days ago. Tougher ask in this grade.
Candy Warhol (USA)
Winless for some time but he's been pretty consistent this season, running respectably when third of 5 at Bath 23 days ago. Regular front runner so he could find it difficult to dominate in this big field.
Washington Heir
Left previous form well behind on first visit to this track when winning classified event (5.3f) in June. Placed over C&D next time, before taking another step forward when neck second of 7 to Diomed Spirit in handicap 16 days ago.
Port Hedland
Bounced back to winning ways in classified race at Bath in June. However, has gone the wrong way from that effort in 3 subsequent outings, well held at this course (7f) 17 days ago.
Bated Breeze (IRE)
Finally got off the mark in classified event over C&D last month. Wasn't disgraced when 2¼ lengths fourth of 7 to Big Time Rascal in handicap here 16 days ago, though this is a lot more competitive.
Daley T (IRE)
Long-standing maiden but in cheekpieces he went close when third in classified event at this course (5.3f) in June. Hasn't been able to repeat that effort in 3 starts since, even if he failed to stay 7f here on latest outing. 5 lb out of the weights in this race.
My Boy Jack
Losing run continues to mount up but ran one of this year's better races when never-nearer fourth of 11 in handicap at Pontefract (6f) 28 days ago. Visor back on, though others still preferred as he races from out of the handicap.
