ADELAIDE BAY has been pretty expensive to follow since rejoining Chapple-Hyam but this doesn't look much of a race and he can build on last month's encouraging fourth at Newcastle to notch an overdue first success of the year. Respectable Jack and King Sharja are also shortlisted.

Timeform Comments

Give Me The Night (IRE)
Still a maiden and has slipped down the weights without showing much sign of taking advantage this season, including when tried in blinkers on his last 2 outings.
Adelaide Bay
Three-time all-weather winner during his first spell with Jane Chapple-Hyam and some creditable efforts off his reduced mark back with the yard this year (probably should've won at C&D back in May). Another solid effort when fourth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) 33 days ago and he's respected.
Shades Of May
Three all-weather wins between February and April. Made a good return from a break when close third of 10 at Salisbury (7f, good) last month but didn't really settle and failed to build on that when fourth of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, firm, 7/2) 22 days ago.
Respectable Jack
Yet to win but was placed at Kempton early in the year and he ran creditably returning from a 12-week break in a first-time visor when fifth of 11 in a handicap there (6f) when last seen in May. Blinkers back on after another lay-off.
Al Suil Eile (FR)
Seven-time course winner, most recently over 1m last March. Can only be watched on return from 16-month break (left Shaun Harris).
Fulford Cross
Narrowly off the mark on all-weather at Lingfield (7f) in December but regular slow starts have held him back since, never nearer when 2 lengths fifth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Application of cheekpieces may sharpen him up.
King Sharja
C&D winner went close here in May prior to another good runner-up effort at Carlisle the following week. Bit below that level across his last 3 starts, though wasn't seen to maximum effect under a patient ride when sixth of 13 in handicap at Beverley (7.3f, good) 15 days ago. Can build on that.
My Mate Beattie (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who posted her best effort for some time when third of 9 in handicap at Ffos Las (6f, good) last month but not in same form when fifth in a Yarmouth classified event since.
Starshot (IRE)
Remains with only 1 win from 44 starts, though made the frame for the fifth time this season over C&D in May. Eighth of 13 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good) when last seen 103 days ago and others make much more appeal for win purposes.
Royal Justice (IRE)
No better than mid-field for this yard, though almost unshipped her rider leaving the stalls when last seen just over a year ago. Very hard to fancy after an absence.
