VEIL OF CLOUDS proved a class apart and made a mockery of her mark at the second attempt at Lingfield 11 days ago. Wisely turned out under a penalty and sufficiently lightly raced to expect further progress, she makes plenty of appeal back on turf. Newsreader shaped well starting out for Tony Carroll at Ffos Las recently and along with Northcliff, heads the dangers.

Looked very much on the up after pair of 5f wins at Brighton in June/July but did himself no favours following a typically slow break when down the field in a 26-runner C&D handicap 4 weeks ago. Return to class 5 company in his favour now and no surprise to see him bounce back.
Raffles Angel
Successful from 2 lb higher mark at Haydock (6f) last summer and not far off that level when third at Newbury (6f) on penultimate start. Failed to see her race out on just her second try at 7f back at Haydock 3 weeks ago and return to sprinting will suit.
Veil Of Clouds
Low-mileage filly who got back on track in a first-time tongue strap when third on handicap debut at Wolverhampton (6f) in July and proved a class apart when making all at Lingfield (6f) 11 days ago. Impressive then and she ought to take some stopping under a penalty back on turf.
Perfect Location
Much improved in first-time cheekpieces with success in 9-runner C&D handicap in June, moving smoothly and having matters in hand final 1f. Headgear seemingly didn't have the same effect when fifth at Lingfield (6f) since, though.
Northcliff (IRE)
Landed a gamble on final start for Thomas Faulkner at Chepstow (7f) in May and knocking on the door in refitted visor for present stable, setting sound pace when again finding only one too good at Newmarket (6f) 2 weeks ago. Can go well again with Tom Marquand aboard.
Newsreader (IRE)
A while since he's hit the headlines (all 3 wins over 7f at Kempton for first trainer Kevin Philippart de Foy) but he shaped well on stable bow/from career-low mark when fourth at Ffos Las (6f) 24 days ago. Yard (won this 12 months ago) tends to do well with such recruits. Interesting.
Sound And Vision (IRE)
Won a 5f novice at Southwell in December. Well held on Newcastle handicap debut in January but back on track switched to turf in recent weeks, equipped with a first-time tongue strap when second at Newmarket (5f) 4 weeks ago. Less exposed than most ahead of this return to 6f.
Dark Alley
Bath maiden winner (6f) last summer and has performed well on 2 of her 4 starts upon returning this season, down to a career-low mark when finding only one too good at Windsor (6f, firm) 2 weeks ago. Leaves the impression he needs to pull out a little more, though.
Eightthreeone
Much improved when getting off the mark on handicap debut at Southwell (6f) on reappearance in April. Placed next 3 starts and whilst he hasn't scaled same heights more recently, his latest Chepstow run (badly hampered) can be easily overlooked.
Ararat (IRE)
Landed back-to-back 6f handicaps at Southwell for Robert Cowell last autumn but not really threatened kept to longer trips for present stable in recent months. Assessor eases his grip a little more at least and the return to sprinting looks a good move.
