Timeform View

PIAZZA arrives at the top of her game and with the step up to 1m expected to bring about further improvement, hopes are high that she can follow up from Kempton. Fellow last-time-out scorer Ecclefechan is the obvious threat, while Meritocratic will test the skills of James Owen but he will doubtless come good for that yard.

Timeform Comments

Symphony Of Joy (IRE)
Belatedly matched debut form when third of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) last month, albeit with the aid of a very soft lead. Hung right when not in quite the same form at Nottingham 4 weeks ago.
Piazza
Arrives on the up, well on top at the finish when opening her account in 7f handicap at Kempton 11 days ago. 1m seems certain to suit so she's a major player up 6 lb.
Ecclefechan
Campaigned mainly as a sprinter this season but ease in class and step up to 1m worked the oracle as he finally got off the mark at Windsor 6 days ago. Retains handicap scope under a penalty.
Captain Corelli (IRE)
Successful on 4 of his 5 starts on turf during 2024 but failed to find the same form last year. Has had a breathing operation ahead of this belated reappearance.
Crimson Rambler
Back-to-back winner at around 1m on the all-weather in March for George Scott. Placed twice for this yard but must cast aside a lesser effort at Newmarket latest.
Big Alex Walmsley
Maiden who ran one of his better efforts in a first-time hood when third of 5 in a C&D handicap early last month. Ran to a similar level upped to 1¼m back here next time before proving too free to see it out at Newmarket. Omission of the hood is therefore a surprising move.
Meritocratic (IRE)
Still not the most straightforward but he stepped up from his comeback run having been gelded and sporting a first-time visor when third of 10 in handicap at Windsor (1¼m). Turned in a bit of a shocker at Brighton but has since transferred to James Owen. Cheekpieces replace the visor.
Amarachi (IRE)
Runner-up on 3 of her first 4 starts this year, including when beaten only a neck at Chelmsford in February. Off 6 months so likely needed the run back on turf at Beverley 2 weeks ago. Expected to build on that.
