Timeform View

This looks a good opportunity for BOOK OF LIFE to notch an overdue second success in Britain and he rates as a confident selection, with recent Southwell scorer Hear The Drums and Mercurius Power the likeliest dangers.

Timeform Comments

Book Of Life
Remains a long a time without a win but he's been largely in good form in recent months and he was unlucky not to score when third of 12 in handicap (4/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 7 days ago, badly hampered early in the straight and keeping on when meeting trouble again 100 yds out. Can make amends.
Mercurius Power (IRE)
Over 2 years since his last win but has run creditably of late, including second of 12 over C&D 39 days ago. Won't be far away if showing up here in similar form.
Hear The Drums
Successful in the mud at Leicester (7f) in October and returned to form from completely out of the blue to take a 10-runner handicap at Southwell (1m, 11/4) 27 days ago. Up 4 lb and is still relatively unexposed on all-weather.
Blairtum Night
Night Of Thunder gelding who has offered little in 3 novice events and failed to step forward sent handicapping at Carlisle 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces now applied.
Sassy Glory (IRE)
Built on good second at Beverley when doubling her career tally at C&D in June. Ran too badly to be true when well beaten here next time and took a step back in right direction when fifth of 12 in a classified event at Ayr (1¼m, good to firm, 11/2) 25 days ago.
Elettaria (IRE)
Dual winner of 7f classified events at here in 2025 and returned to form when a neck second of 13 in handicap at Beverley (7.3f, good) 21 days ago, coming from further back than the others in the frame.
One More Bottle
Won classified event at Ayr (1m) last summer. Off 7 months prior to return and might have still needing the outing when eighth of 12 in a similar race there. Drop back in trip should suit.
Soda (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden who took a small step forward when 2¼ lengths third of 10 to Hear The Drums in handicap at Southwell (1m) 27 days ago. Hard to see her turning the tables but wouldn't be ruled out of making the frame in a thin race.
Furrst Lady (IRE)
Refused to race on debut and has offered little in 6 outings since, leaving Ruth Carr before her latest start.
Queenies Pal
Made little impact in varied events last season and fared no better in 3 starts this year. Has left Noel Wilson.
