Timeform View

FLIGHTOFTHEPHOENIX carries a penalty for last week's Ffos Las victory but she won in decisive fashion and may be the answer to a tricky-looking opener. Austrian Theory has dropped to an attractive mark and is feared most, whilst Revelio is less exposed than his rivals and has the assistance of Henry Callan.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Flightofthephoenix has traded at more than 2 times Betfair SP twice when winning during its last 5 starts: Cavalry Call has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP 3 times on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Flightofthephoenix (IRE)
Opened account from a reduced mark in Kempton handicap last month and followed up in decisive fashion at Ffos Las (12f) 6 days ago. 5 lb penalty to carry now but another bold bid looks assured.
I'd Go Maniac (FR)
Benefited from the fitting of cheekpieces this summer, gaining reward for his consistency with victory in 8-runner handicap over a similar trip under this pilot at Windsor 31 days ago. Remains feasibly treated if handling this slower ground.
Ribble River (IRE)
Three-time winner for Kevin Ryan, including this event 12 months ago (off 3 lb lower). Disappointed over hurdles for current yard since, though, and remains to be seen if return to the Flat after a breathing operation sparks a revival in form.
Austrian Theory (IRE)
Not successful since 2024 but has been cut plenty of slack by the assessor and there have been more positive signs of late, backing up a good fifth at Newcastle with a solid third of 7 in handicap at Catterick (1½m, good) 17 days ago. One for the shortlist.
Roland Garros
Fit from hurdling and registered a first career success back on the Flat in handicap at Catterick (1½m) in April. Exploits mixed under both codes since, though.
Alpine Sierra (IRE)
Benefited from going back up in distance in May, completing a hat-trick around this sort of trip. Not been in quite same form since, though, and others appeal more.
Revelio
Lightly-raced gelding who came close to a winning handicap debut at Lingfield (1¼m) in June and hasn't been seen to best effect since, needing a stronger gallop when fourth at Newmarket (1½m) latest. Merits consideration with excellent amateur booked.
Spirit Catcher (IRE)
Landed a gamble at Musselburgh in April and generally held form well since, coming in for support again when creditable fourth of 10 in handicap over shorter trip at Ripon 3 days ago. Ought to give another good account.
Recobella (FR)
Found improvement when successful at Ayr in July and ran at least as well in defeat when close second over same C&D last month. Resumed winning ways in 3-runner handicap at Thirsk (1½m, good) since and remains feasibly treated.
Star Start (IRE)
Proved consistent in similar events this summer, winning at Pontefract (10f) in August. Only narrowly failed to add to that victory in Ripon handicap (soft) 3 days ago and can race off same mark here. Respected.
Shahbaz (IRE)
Competitive in amateur races on the all-weather early this year but has struggled back on turf in a trio of starts more recently, including tried in blinkers at Catterick latest.
Cavalry Call (IRE)
Fairly useful at best, but didn't offer much promise for R. Mike Smith (including over hurdles) and has failed to beat a rival in 3 starts for current yard.
Red Derek
Course winner but 2-57 overall and 20 runs since last victory in 2022. Remote fourth on both starts this season and it's likely the wait for another win will go on.
