Timeform View

HEREWARD showed plenty on debut in quite a competitive race and a repeat of that effort will make him hard to beat. Ahmadi looks sure to be suited by this longer trip and should be thereabouts, while Mr Badger ran the quickest final 1f on debut and can step up on his initial experience.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Minsmere could be expected to race prominently. Of those in the front half of the betting forecast, Hereward might be well positioned in a slowly run affair: Of the better-fancied horses, Miss Faithfull is most likely to be ridden furthest from the pace.

Timeform Comments

Ahmadi (IRE)
€110,000 yearling, St Mark's Basilica colt. Badly in need of the experience but showed promise when 6 lengths fourth of 8 in novice (5/1) at Kempton (7f) on debut last month, running green but not knocked about. Likely improver for top connections.
Play Again Sammy (IRE)
Foaled April 8. 85,000 gns yearling, Blackbeard colt. Closely related to useful 1m/8.5f winner Cathal and 8.5f/9f winner Never So Lucky and half-brother to winner by U S Navy Flag. Makes some appeal on paper and is worth a market check on debut.
Rose Moon (GER)
Foaled February 1. €95,000 yearling, Sea The Moon colt. Dam, German 7f winner, half-sister to smart 1m-1¾m winner Rosscarbery out of useful 1½m winner Rose Rized. Makes appeal on pedigree and yard's debutants are always respected.
Hereward (FR)
€77,000 yearling, Saxon Warrior colt. Shaped well on debut when 1¼ lengths third of 12 to I Will Be King in quite valuable sales race at Deauville (7f, good to soft, 13/2) 3 weeks ago, caught further back than ideal. Has leading claims now dropped into this company.
Minsmere (IRE)
€50,000 yearling, Minzaal colt. Fifth of 8 in maiden at Lingfield (1m, AW, 18/1) on debut 14 days ago. Hard to make a case for on that evidence.
Mad Jack (IRE)
€30,000 foal, £32,000 yearling, Churchill colt. 28/1, very green but hinted at ability when eighth of 13 in novice at Ripon (1m, good to firm) on debut 19 days ago.
Miss Faithfull (IRE)
Foaled February 3. 100,000 gns yearling, Camelot filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful 1¼m winner Asiaaf and 8.4f-1½m winner Cueros. Wears hood. Makes some appeal on paper, though the fitting of a hood on debut raises questions.
Caelan's Rose
Foaled April 13. Ulysses filly. Sister to 9.5f-1½m winner Lia Rose and half-sister to several winners, including useful 1m-11f winner Jewel In My Crown and 11f winner Ruby Wedding. Yard's runners generally tend to come on for the run, though she's one to monitor in the betting, nevertheless.
Mr Badger
14,000 gns yearling. Showcasing colt. Showed promise when 4¾ lengths fifth of 11 to Huwa Baree in maiden at Lingfield (7f, AW, 12/1) on debut 21 days ago, finishing well. Looks sure to improve.
