JET SMART looks worth another try over staying distances (placed in point and related to fairly useful stayer), and he gets the nod in a tricky opener. Paper Mill has solid form claims, while Mumford's Magic (goes well fresh) will be a threat if his jumping holds up.

Timeform Comments

Giovanni Change (FR)
Strong-staying veteran. Landed a gamble/his seventh Market Rasen success when an 11-length winner in a race where plenty failed to fire last time. Could find life tougher back up 7 lb at a different venue.
Paper Mill
Prolific pointer who opened his Rules account on second handicap start at Uttoxeter (3¼m, soft) in November. Back on song when 3 lengths behind Karnival Point at Uttoxeter (3m) 8 weeks ago. Solid claims at the weights, though wouldn't want this small-field event to be steadily run.
Jet Smart (IRE)
Notched first leg of a 2½m handicap chase double at this track last summer. In good form when twice runner-up behind upwardly-mobile winners in May, latterly 6 lengths behind Karnival Point here. Cheekpieces refitted for return (goes well fresh) and worth another go over staying trips. Interesting.
Dexperts Opinion (IRE)
Ex-French recruit (€13,000) who made a successful British debut in a handicap hurdle at this track/trip in late-May. Wasn't in same form when 8-length second on chasing debut at Newton Abbot 3 weeks on. Since freshened up and still early days as a chaser for current yard.
Mumford's Magic (IRE)
Got off the mark despite his jumping when driven out to land a 3m chase at Doncaster (heavy) in early-February. Didn't get away with a similarly clumsy display in better company at Warwick the following month. Has run well both starts following significant breaks, though.
Better Off Alone (IRE)
Low-mileage 7-y-o. Runner-up in point/maiden hurdle earlier in his career. Showed a bit more than previously over fences with in-frame finishes at Uttoxeter/Wincanton (both on heavy), however, he reverted to type when last seen at Chepstow in March (pulled up following bad mistake).
