HOPEFUL HERO confirmed he's in top form when runner-up at Kilbeggan 2 weeks ago and while he has a 3 lb rise to deal with, he may well be up to the job. Del Boys Diva shaped very well at that track herself last time, finding 19f too much of a test so she's second choice, with Littlefoot dangerous from this lower hurdles mark.

Timeform Comments

Amanha (FR)
Surpassed hurdles form when winning 5-runner novice chase at Tramore (15.6f, good to soft) on debut over fences in May 2025, soon clear. Too free to see it out at Kilbeggan 6 weeks later and off the track since.
Littlefoot (IRE)
Took well to chasing, winning twice in the spring and shaped as though still in good order until unseating rider at Galway in July. Ran a shocker over hurdles prior to that but clearly on a good mark over the smaller obstacles.
Bells Grove (IRE)
Placed all 3 starts in bumpers for John McConnell and at the very least matched that form when third of 17 in maiden at Listowel (2m, good) on hurdles bow in May, pulling clear of rest. Landed the odds at Ballinrobe 2 months later and while opening mark asks for more, he can progress.
Ma Belle Etoile (IRE)
Won novice hurdle at Cork and beginners chase at Wexford last summer. Mixed both codes in recent months and fitted with a tongue tie, she took a step back in the right direction when third at Wexford last month.
Hopeful Hero (IRE)
Got off the mark in a maiden hurdle at Bellewstown in July. Scoped dirty when below form next time but got straight back on the up since, shaping really well when collared only late by one at Kilbeggan 2 weeks ago. Of serious interest,
Lips Freedom (GER)
Showed much improved form in this sphere when winning handicap at Downpatrick in March and then defying an 11 lb higher mark at Killarney in July. Struggled under a change of tactics at Galway but not judged too harshly on a Flat spin latest.
Lambay Island (IRE)
Very good second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Thurles in November but he stopped alarmingly quickly at Leopardstown a month later and off the track since. In expert hands and he's back in trip.
Shanroe
Useful Flat performer at his peak, winning twice in 2023 (including a listed race). Lightly raced in his advancing years and unable to add to tally in either code since
Del Boys Diva (IRE)
Proved a different proposition since the tongue strap was applied, decisive in landing handicap hurdles at Roscommon/Wexford in July and better than bare facts of fifth-place finish at Kilbeggan 16 days ago, undone by step up to 19f. One to take very seriously back in distance.
Simple Things (IRE)
Lightly-raced 4-y-o who finished runner-up in mares handicap hurdles at Bellewstown/Wexford in the spring. Made the most of a good opportunity minus a hood back in maiden company at Tramore a month ago and she can remain competitive.
Dairy Force (IRE)
Without a win since hurdling debut (when trained by Liam O'Brien) but enjoyed a good spell this summer, runner-up twice and a creditable third of 6 at Tramore in August. Let down by jumping next time and not so good last time. Engaged 2.12 Downpatrick Friday.
Accustomed (IRE)
Gambled-on second at Down Royal in March and put it all together when off the mark at Bellewstown in July (3m). Off since and he's significantly down in distance.
Mary's Pride (IRE)
Added to good record fresh when returning from a 5-month break to finish second of 15 at Ballinrobe (2m) in May. Shaped as if still in good form without looking particularly suited by the step up in trip when seventh at Punchestown but Sligo run was a backward step.
Pralognan (FR)
Wasn't seen to best effect when fourth behind Parkgrave in handicap hurdle on return from 8-month absence last time. Should be sharper for that. Engaged 4.28 Downpatrick Friday.
Letters To Juliet (IRE)
Won a 5-runner handicap hurdle at Bellewstown in April 2025. Into her shell to end last year and she's likely to need this.
