TYPEFACE is lurking on handy mark back on the all-weather and he gets the vote. The dangers are headed by Gemini Man, who chased home a subsequent winner here last time. New Objective, Pride Eye and Parole Officer also need considering in a competitive opener.

Timeform Comments

Ravenscraig Castle
Without a win on the Flat since 2021. Did run one of his better races of the year when 4¾-length second over C&D last time. This looks a deeper 0-55, though.
Bun Bang Fai
Free-going sort who failed to progress for Archie Watson. Eases in grade having offered little in 2 starts for present yard.
Gemini Man (IRE)
Has won 3 times on the Flat this year, including C&D classified event at this course in June. Again ran well when close second to a next-time-out winner over C&D last time. Has to be on the shortlist off only 1 lb higher.
Whiskey Pete (IRE)
Extended his long losing run when below form in 1m handicap here last time. Return to 1¼m should at least benefit on first start in 0-55 company.
Eeetee (IRE)
Won twice at Redcar last year. No impact from falling mark this season. Will need to settle back up in trip if he's to capitalise on drop into a 0-55.
New Objective
Ran just about as well as he has when 2¾-length fourth over C&D last time. Less exposed than most in this field and hasn't been long with current yard. One of the more interesting runners.
Typeface
Runner-up twice here last winter and has hit the frame all 4 starts on turf since his reappearance (been expensive to follow). Potentially very well treated back on the all-weather and may capitalise if settling back up in trip.
Skirt Around (USA)
Low-mileage 3-y-o. No impact in 3 handicap starts to date, beaten by more than just the longer trip at Ripon (1½m) last time. Does at least benefit from an ease in grade.
Someone's Wish (IRE)
First form for current yard when second of 10 in all-weather classified event at Lingfield (1½m) last month. Wasn't in same form under a more forceful ride at Wolverhampton since and now back in handicap company.
Pride Eye
Hold-up type. Caused 66/1 shock over 1m at Southwell in January. Went as close as she has since in classified event at Lingfield last month and still in form when 1½-length fourth over longer trip there (1½m) last time. Respected in her current form, though lack of pace in the race isn't ideal.
Suitcase Smith
Maiden who has made more impact than previously for the drop into classified company, beaten 3¾ lengths at Lingfield (1½m) last time. Now 18 lb lower than his opening mark and cannot be totally discounted back in a handicap.
Parole Officer
Placed 4 times for Sean Woods last year. Best form for current yard has come over C&D, not seen to best effect when beaten 3½ lengths in 3-y-o handicap here latest. Wouldn't want this to be run at a crawl, though.
Muddy Marvellous
Hasn't stood much racing. Again achieved little on comeback at Southwell (1m). Hard to be confident he'll fare better for headgear/longer trip.
Park Lane Penny (IRE)
Slow-starting 3-y-o who got off the mark in classified stakes at Thirsk (1m) in July. Didn't get away with a tardy start at Redcar subsequently. Less exposed than most, however, longer trip a question mark on pedigree.
