Timeform View

With the Twiston-Davies stable hitting form in recent weeks, GENTLE OCEAN, who was runner-up in an Irish point during the winter, may well be the answer on Rules debut. A Chara will go very close if repeating her Southwell run, while In The Trenches may have more to offer for Jennie Candlish.

Timeform Comments

In The Trenches
Belatedly opened account in 19f Downpatrick maiden hurdle in June and having left one good yard for another, he travelled powerfully tackling 3m for the first time (fitted with a tongue tie) when landing 3-runner handicap chase at Warwick 12 days ago. Penalty to carry but unexposed over this trip.
Gentle Ocean (IRE)
€20,000 3-y-o, £50,000 5-y-o, fifth foal, dam unraced half-sister to top-class hurdler (stayed 21f) The New One and fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stays 3¼m) The Newest One. In-form yard have had success with the family and he was runner-up only start in Irish points in January.
Captain Connor (FR)
Limited hurdler who makes mistakes and is set to struggle out of low-grade handicap company.
A Chara
£70,000 Irish point recruit who stepped up on Rules debut fourth when a clear second to odds-on winner Strong Run at Southwell (20.5f, good to soft) in December. Off since but that is the best form on offer and hopes are high she'll stay this far.
Letmeseethecolts
Modest winner up to 1½m on the Flat and similar level over hurdles this summer, placed all 3 starts. Could do with brushing up her jumping slightly but is capable of making her presence felt again.
Stavanger Rose (IRE)
Bred for stamina and little in the way of promise in various company.
Time In A Bottle
Placed a couple of times for Henry de Bromhead. Won a point ahead of switch to Dan Skelton but rare tame start for the yard when brushed aside at Uttoxeter 19 days ago.
