KNIGHTON can make a winning return if putting it all together. Latin appeals as a likely danger following an eye-catching stable debut. Ballygeary and Paddys Policy complete the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Paddys Policy (IRE)
Relatively lightly-raced 6-y-o. Ran up to his best when runner-up in a better event at Wetherby on reappearance last year. Found his 2025/26 ending on a low note, pulled up (found to have bled) on chasing debut at Bangor. Back hurdling and this could be the time to catch him.
Caelan (IRE)
Won 2m maiden hurdle at Worcester last September. Subsequently placed in handicaps off higher marks than this, however, he did blot his copybook by virtually refusing to race on penultimate Flat start for Olly Murphy this summer. Now back hurdling for new yard.
Sun Art (FR)
Positively-ridden winner of a Ludlow novice (2m) last spring. Emerged with credit when beaten 6½ lengths in a briskly-run event here (21f) in May. Raced freely when beaten 6 lengths (made typical mistake at last) on return at Worcester (2m). Capable if putting it all together.
Ballygeary (IRE)
Latest success came here in June 2024. In good form but looked as quirky as ever when beaten 5½ lengths (travelled smoothly) in a 2½m course handicap last month. Probably wasn't seen to best effect returned to positive tactics at Sedgefield latest. Comes with risks attached off a much-reduced mark.
Latin (IRE)
Fair/prolific winner on the Flat (stays 11f). Left the James Owen yard following a promising handicap hurdle debut fourth at Worcester in June. Caught the eye under considerate handling on return at Uttoxeter. Only his second start for Olly Murphy and there may well be some mileage in his mark.
Knighton
Ran to fairly useful level sole start on Flat (1½m). No match for a fairly useful prospect on handicap bow at Ludlow. Loomed up before being worried out of it by a more experienced one in a match at Huntingdon (2m) in May. Return to bigger field will help and has potential if his jumping improves.
Bannister (FR)
Has fallen a long way in the weights since his last success here (2¼m) in September 2024. Plausible excuses first 2 starts this season, however, hasn't revived for a switch to positive tactics more recently (typically a hold-up type).
