Timeform View

NOT THAT GUY built on his exploits as a juvenile and made light of an 11-month absence in the process when successful in a 12-runner Wolverhampton novice 23 days ago. That form is already working out well and from what looks a handy opening mark on handicap debut, he makes plenty of appeal with the step up to 7f looking likely to suit. This is competitive, though, with recent course winner Nostrum, Billyb and 4-time C&D winner King of Ithaca just 3 potential threats.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

A decent pace still shouldn’t detract from the chances of those who race on or near the front end such as Nostrum: The leaders will have to go harder than the predicted pace forecast if the hold-up horses such as Elite Approach are going to come into things.

Timeform Comments

Nostrum
Dropped a long way in the weights this year and he built on promise of his previous run to record a first success since his 3-y-o days in 1m handicap here 5 days ago. Remains with plenty of handicapping scope under a 5-lb penalty if coming here in similar vein.
Billyb (FR)
Twice a winner in 2025, latterly over 1m here in November. Exploits mixed in recent months but posted comfortably his best effort of the season when second at Pontefract (1m) 3 weeks ago, having to wait for gap 2f out before keeping on well. One to be interested in.
Aisling Oscar (IRE)
Matched a 30-year modern-day record of 8 straight handicap wins over 1m here in February. Emerged with credit in defeat on all-weather thereafter and given a break following 2 lesser efforts on turf during the spring. This mark unlikely to prove beyond him this autumn.
Enacting (IRE)
Son of Sioux Nation who progressed in a trio of all-weather novice events during second half of 2024, opening his account with a bit to spare at Wolverhampton (7f) in December. Absent 21 months ahead of this (also gelded) and he remains with potential now handicapping for good yard. Hood on.
Elite Approach
Havana Gold gelding who has improved with each outing to date, showing plenty of speed and value for extra when off the mark in 5-runner novice at Newcastle (6f) 13 days ago. 7f won't pose any fears now handicapping and highly likely there's more to come.
Montezin
Low-mileage 4-y-o who readily opened his account in handicaps at Haydock (7f) in August, value for more than ½-length winning margin over a hat-seeker. Shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on softer ground than previously in a stronger race back there 33 days ago.
Prince Of Pillo (IRE)
Dual winner in the first half of 2025 (including over 6f here) but operating below best on turf/all-weather since returning from a break in recent months. Mark is easing all the time but would need to see more positive signs before becoming of interest.
King Of Ithaca
Four-time C&D winner who was an easy winner here on final start of 2025. Couldn't scale same heights thereafter last winter but off 5 months/refitted with a hood, he posted an encouraging second at Wolverhampton (7f) 3 weeks ago. Return to this venue an obvious plus from handy mark.
Supreme Clarets (IRE)
3-y-o who found some improvement when registering back-to-back 7f victories at Ayr/Beverley and looked a little unlucky not to finish closer in hat-trick bid when fourth at latter-named venue 16 days ago. Respected as an in-form sort making all-weather debut.
Not That Guy (IRE)
Son of Cotai Glory who improved on his exploits as a juvenile following an 11-month absence (also gelded) when landing 12-runner Wolverhampton novice (6f) 23 days ago. That form is already working out well and he looks on a good opening mark now handicapping with 7f sure to suit.
Jersey Maverick (IRE)
Sole success came at Epsom last summer with more good efforts than bad in 2026, doing well under the circumstances having not been ideally placed when fifth at Kempton (7f) 4 weeks ago. Switched yards since but this looks a stronger affair.
War Howl (IRE)
Dual winner last summer for Michael Appleby. Very low-key start for present yard but tumbled down the weights and much more like it of late, going much closer than previously this year when third at Newcastle (7f) 33 days ago. This is a much deeper contest, however.
