Timeform View

GONE BY takes on a trio of rivals who surely have more to offer but she sets the very clear standard on a brace of runner-up efforts 6 months apart and she really should make no mistake this time. Golden Step gets the tentative nod for the forecast.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Gone By traded at a low of 1.50 and Betfair SP of 2.02 when losing last time, a race in which it led.

Timeform Comments

Golden Step
Golden Horn filly. Sister to 11f winner Alfred Spero. Dam 7f/1m winner. Too green to show much when a distant third of 9 starting out at Kempton 4 weeks ago (11f). Well bred and in very capable hands so she's sure to improve on that.
Gone By (IRE)
Bred to be useful and made an encouraging debut when runner-up in 1m novice at Newbury in October, very slowly away but pulling clear with promising stablemate. Failed to land the odds when second of 7 at Ascot (1¼m) but will surely make no mistake this time.
Joud
62,000 gns foal, St Mark's Basilica filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including smart 11.5f/1½m winner Star Storm and useful 1m winner Sargasso Sea. Failed to make a significant impact on debut at Newcastle in November but that was over 6f. Hiked up in trip now and better expected.
Wootton's Gal
Foaled February 10. Nathaniel filly. First foal of a dam who won over 1½m-1¾m and over hurdles. Dam is half-sister to useful 11f-13f winner. Bred to need time and distance and shaped accordingly on her debut over 7f in July. Off since.
