Timeform View

WEN MOON is fancied to build on his promising Carlisle effort and get off the mark for the season. Canaria Queen and Rock of England both arrive in good form themselves and can pose the biggest threats.

Timeform Comments

Wen Moon (IRE)
C&D winner ended long losing run at Musselburgh (5f) last November and stepped up from his comeback here when an encouraging third at Carlisle 16 days ago. Leading player down in class.
Betweenthesticks
Followed up his reappearance win at Wolverhampton with a narrow success at Pontefract. Ran well when runner-up at C&D when bidding for the hat-trick last month and his wide draw/proximity to strong pace provide valid excuses for a no-show at Pontefract last time. Should bounce back.
Azuinthejungle
Completed hat-trick at Ayr last summer but signed off with a below par effort at Doncaster. Not much better at Musselburgh on return and proved too keen when down the field at Hamilton last time, so bit to prove at present.
Speeding Bullet (IRE)
Won at Pontefract (6f, good) last summer and ended 2025 with good runner-up efforts at Southwell (6f) and Haydock (5f). Well held on Newcastle reappearance and looked as if he was still getting back up to speed when seventh of 10 at Carlisle (5f) 16 days ago. Now back on last winning mark.
Hurt You Never (IRE)
Tasted success 4 times over 5f last year. Looked on her way back to form when third at C&D on her penultimate outing but failed to build on that promise when ninth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (5f, soft) 16 days ago.
Rock Of England (IRE)
Capitalised on a reduced mark in 9-runner handicap at Newcastle (5f) on his second start of the season and backed that up with a respectable third of 8 in handicap (7/2) at Pontefract (5f, good) 35 days ago, despite reportedly breaking a blood vessel. Place claims look solid again.
Canaria Queen
Scored at Doncaster second time up this season and doubled her tally for the year at Musselburgh last month. Creditable second of 8 in handicap at this C&D (good) 6 days ago and she should be in the mix again, technically 1 lb lower in the weights this time.
High Opinion
C&D winner but finished 2025 badly out of sorts. Showed a glimmer of promise when sixth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, good to soft) on return, unable to sustain his effort late on. Will need to step forward from that to score here.
