Timeform View

HICKORY LAD was second in an above-average looking Lily Agnes at Chester a month ago and with the way he stuck to his task that day, 6f promises to suit. He's marginally preferred to Possessive, who arguably has the most scope to improve of these. Of the rest, Wild Terrain also has a bigger effort in him.

Timeform Comments

Alpe D'huez (IRE)
Foaled March 27. €65,000 foal, €58,000 yearling, Kodi Bear colt. Half-brother to useful 13f winner Vorfreude. Dam lightly raced out of useful 2-y-o 6f winner Nijoom Dubai. Yet another clued-up debutant for this yard when landing odds in 7-runner novice at Lingfield a month ago (6f). More to come.
Dandyman Dan (IRE)
38,000 gns Dandy Man colt from family of Prix Morny winner Silca's Sister. Belied big odds when making winning debut at Bath and while he improved on that in form terms when fifth of 6 in listed company at Sandown he was never really a factor back at 5f. This trip will suit.
El Lambo (IRE)
Still looks a work in progress but found plenty for pressure when making third start a winning one at Bath 3 weeks ago. That isn't form to be getting carried away with but he's well bred and in very good hands.
Hickory Lad (IRE)
James Garfield colt who showed plenty of ability when runner-up on debut at Thirsk and confirmed those impressions with a smooth success at Musselburgh (5f, good). Put in his place by a speedy one but beat the rest easily enough in the Lily Agnes and that is just about the best form on offer.
Possessive
Foaled March 25. Lucky Vega colt. Dam useful French/German 1m winner (including at 2 yrs). Flashed his tail but ran on willingly when making a winning debut in 8-runner 6f novice at York 13 days ago. That form hasn't been tested but he could be useful for his leading stable.
The Bookkeeper (IRE)
Better than result on debut over 5f and took a step forward when winning 4-runner novice at Haydock upped to 7f 2 weeks ago. That was rather a blanket finish but he's not yet the finished article.
Wild Terrain
Foaled March 7. 20,000 gns foal, £50,000 yearling, Territories colt. Dam, maiden (effective at 5.5f-1m), half-sister to smart 9.5f/1¼m winner Cashman and useful winner up to 1½m Only The Brave. Claimer ridden when making a winning start at Hamilton 3 weeks ago. Expected to progress.
Ardad Steve (IRE)
Foaled March 21. 32,000 gns Ardad colt. Dam once-raced half-sister to smart 7f-1¼m winner Hadaatha out of smart winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner) Hathrah. Better than he could show when fourth of 8 starting out at Yarmouth 16 days ago, denied a clear run. This will reveal more.
Benefacta (IRE)
NON RUNNER.
Rlasthope
Rajasinghe gelding who matched previous form upped to 6f when third of 15 at York 3 weeks ago. Lacks the scope to improve of a few of these.
Social Spirit
Foaled February 2. 22,000 gns yearling, Oasis Dream gelding. Half-brother to 8.4f winner Enchanted Eye and 2-y-o 7f winner Mystic Moment. Dam 8.3f-1½m winner. Already gelded but displayed ability when a keeping-on third at Doncaster (5f) 3 weeks ago. 6f promises to suit.
Havana Flash (IRE)
Foaled February 8. €55,000 yearling, 40,000 gns 2-y-o, Havana Grey filly. Half-sister to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Fast Attack. Dam 5f/6f winner. Noteworthy newcomer given yard she represents pitched in fairly deep on debut.
Romidijo
Raced alone when third at Chepstow so that run possibly needs upgrading but like on debut, she flashed her tail, which raises concerns.
Time And Effort
Foaled May 11. £5,000 yearling, Ubettabelieveit filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including 6f-1m winner Heroic and 9.5f winner Things Happen. Dam 2-y-o 5f/6f winner. Merely hinted at promise in debut over 5f at Musselburgh 2 weeks ago.
