Timeform View

THUNDER CALL has progressed with each outing to date, looking every inch the useful prospect he's bred to be when making a winning return in clear-cut fashion at Kempton (6f) 32 days ago. An opening mark of 85 may well underestimate the William Haggas colt and he makes plenty of appeal back at 7f. There is plenty of depth to this race though, with King's Cavalry, Toastmaster, King's Trust and Rogue Messiah just a handful of others to note.

Timeform Comments

Rogue Messiah (IRE)
Successful on first of his 2 starts at 2 yrs and quickly regained progressive thread this spring, building on his Kempton second when scoring on handicap debut at Lingfield (6f) 38 days ago. Should be equally as effective at 7f and there could be more to come now starting out for James Owen.
Sanaam (IRE)
Showed much improved form after 4 months off (gelded) when readily accounting for a subsequent winner in a Southwell maiden over this trip in December. Couldn't translate that improvement to turf when ninth on handicap debut at Wetherby in April, but it remains early days.
Thunder Call
Upwardly-mobile colt who finished runner up on second of 2 starts as a juvenile and found another chunk of improvement after 6 months off when readily landing 11-runner Kempton maiden (6f) 32 days ago. In top hands and he's every inch a useful prospect now entering handicaps.
Valpovo
French recruit who left debut form in his wake when landing 9.5f maiden at La Teste De Buch in September and similar form having been well placed when third in minor event at Bordeaux thereafter. Changed hands for 40,000 gns/gelded and market can guide on return/handicap bow.
King's Trust
Showed improved form to get off the mark in maiden at Southwell (7f) in October. Still looked a work in progress in a switch of headgear when mid-field on return/handicap debut at Kempton 9 days ago and refitting of blinkers could well see him focus better. Respected.
King's Cavalry
Kingman colt who was keen early on but essentially outclassed his rivals when readily off the mark in a Leicester novice (7f) 4 weeks ago, quickening clear. Powerful sort who looks the type to win handicaps.
Night Patrol (IRE)
Fairly useful 7f winner for Richard Hannon who possibly needed the run starting out for new yard after 7 months off when eighth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (7.5f) 32 days ago. However, looks to have work to do in what rates another warm race.
Peel Park (IRE)
Yarmouth maiden winner over 6f last summer who showed promise when sixth in handicap at Newbury (7f) on return in April. Raced closer to the pace than ideal when seventh at Ascot (1m) since and unlikely we've seen all he has to offer yet. Blinkers now reached for.
Blakefell (IRE)
Showed plenty of ability in handful of starts as a 2-y-o and didn't need to improve having undergone a breathing operation when taking 5-runner Musselburgh maiden (7f) 2 weeks ago. This asks form however, handicapping in what looks a warm race.
French Affair (IRE)
Successful over 6f as a juvenile and has improved in defeat this season, posting just about his best effort yet when second of 20 in handicap at York (7f) 2 weeks ago, finding plenty for pressure before headed late. Possibilities for yard in good form.
Illy's Roo (IRE)
Struck at first time of asking for this yard in handicap at Southwell in March. Has continued in good nick, equipped with a hood when seventh of 20 in handicap at York (7f) having been forced to switch a couple of times. Possibly vulnerable to less exposed sorts now, though.
Toastmaster (IRE)
Consistent on the whole for Simon & Ed Crisford and with visor/tongue strap discarded, he produced an improved display starting out for new yard when third in a big field York handicap (7f) 2 weeks ago. Didn't get the clearest of runs then and that effort marks him out as one to be interested in.
