CANVAS was progressive in 2025 and was first home on his side of the track at Newmarket on return, so he can notch another success at a venue where he has a good record. Rumba Numba has been off for a while but her 3-y-o form reads really well and she has to be respected, with Sailthisshipalone also considered after a pair of solid efforts at Pontefract.

Timeform Comments

Tilted Kilt (FR)
Benefited from the ease in class and enhanced good record fresh when successful at Southwell (1m) in April. However, not in same form back in a stronger company at Ascot since and present mark demands that bit more.
Talis Evolvere (IRE)
Took advantage of reduced mark at Southwell in January and went close at Newcastle in March. Poor efforts on his last 3 outings, though, and others make more appeal.
Cavolo Nero
Won twice last season and proved as good as ever when runner-up at Kempton (1m) on return. Did all he could from a poor position upped in trip at Nottingham next time, though not quite so good despite making the frame at Haydock since. Now sports first-time blinkers.
Rumba Numba
Much improved from debut when landing strong maiden at Wolverhampton last May. Ran at least as well when second to a useful rival at Southwell and progressed further when fourth on handicap bow at Goodwood (1m) next time. Off 10 months since but still appeals as one who'll do better again this year.
Cadarn (IRE)
Started 2025 with victory in back-to-back 1m Redcar handicaps. Went the wrong way after and only minor encouragement since, albeit seeming unsuited by the longer trip when fourteenth of 15 in handicap at York (10.3f, good, 33/1) 21 days ago. Not easy to make a case for.
Miletus (IRE)
Ex-Charles Hills inmate narrowly failed to land a gamble on yard debut at Lingfield in February and again went like the best horse at the weights when runner-up at Doncaster the following month. Left poorly placed at Yarmouth since and he's clearly capable from this mark if quirks are kept in check.
Canvas
Three-time winner in 2025, scoring twice at C&D before successful at York (1m) in September. Fared best of those on race on his side of the track when fourth of 12 in handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) 20 days ago and he makes plenty of appeal at a course where he has good record.
It'sneverjustone
Back-to-back winner of 7f handicaps last summer and has returned in good nick, matching Doncaster reappearance fourth when filling same spot at Thirsk at the start of April. Solid frame claims again.
City Of Kings
Looked useful prospect when winning at Ascot on latter start at 2 yrs for Charlie Appleby and wasn't seen to best effect in a Newmarket conditions race the following spring. Hard to know much ability he retains, so can only be watched making handicap debut after more than 3 years off for new yard.
Intrusively
Made a low-key start for new yard (formerly trained by Ed Bethell) but went with plenty more encouragement when fourth of 11 in handicap (14/1) at Nottingham (8.3f, good) 27 days ago, nearest finish having taken plenty of time to hit full stride. Down another 1 lb here.
Sailthisshipalone
Won at Musselburgh in November on penultimate start for Richard Fahey and made a winning return/yard debut at Pontefract in April. Backed that up with another sound effort from this mark back at Pontefract later in the month and he should be in the mix again with cheekpieces back on.
Bowood
Landed back-to-back Newcastle handicaps in the autumn but a little bit off the boil when last seen in February and others are preferred on his return from 119 days off.
Mr Mistoffelees (IRE)
Strong-traveller who often misses the break. Scored at Newcastle in October but seemingly just going through the motions at present and others make greater appeal despite having slipped back to last winning mark.
