LUSAKA was behind No More Bolero when the pair met over 17f here earlier in the season but the selection has posted another good effort at Ascot since and might be able to take revenge with the shorter trip in his favour. No More Bolero was below-par at Ripon last time but can pose the biggest threat himself.

Timeform Comments

No More Bolero
Ended long losing run over hurdles at Ludlow in November and took advantage of a much-reduced mark returned to the Flat over 17f here in April. Good second at Ripon next time but disappointing without obvious excuse there 19 days ago. Could bounce back with blinkers replacing visor.
Abando (GER)
Useful form on turf in Germany last year and having been gelded, ran his best race in this country when fourth at Nottingham (1¼m) on Wednesday, seeing it out better than previously with cheekpieces also refitted. Must back that up over a new trip (furthest he's tackled) now.
Percy Jones
A 4-time Wolverhampton winner, latest in August. Looked in need of first start for 6 months when eighth of 15 at Newbury (1½m) 3 weeks ago and ran well on previous visit to this track, so he's interesting now 2 lb below last winning mark.
Curran (IRE)
Back-to-back winner last summer and held form well until disappointing at Wolverhampton on final start of the season. Offered little on his first start for this yard (left Charlie Johnston 6,000 gns) at Newbury 3 weeks ago, though, so now has bit to prove.
Lusaka (IRE)
Shaped as if back in top form until his stamina gave out when 3½ lengths second of 7 to No More Bolero over 17f here on return and backed that up with a good fourth over 2m at Ascot 4 weeks ago, Previous C&D winner has to respected with blinkers back on.
Taritino (IRE)
C&D winner scored twice over hurdles at Taunton in the spring. Disappointing over timber at Fontwell 3 weeks ago but went close on the Flat from higher marks last season, so not fully ruled out.
Golden Garden (USA)
Improved upped to this trip when winning at Wolverhampton in the autumn for Jamie Osborne. Low-key start over hurdles for this yard but showed a lot more on his return to this sphere when fourth at Goodwood. Brushed aside easily at Yarmouth 16 days ago, though, so bit to prove now in cheekpieces.
Kotari (FR)
Winless since completing a Flat hat-trick in May 2024, though emerged with credit in defeat on a couple of occasions last season. Disappointing back hurdling after a breathing operation on his last 2 starts and was a similar story returned to the Flat at Salisbury 3 weeks ago. Visor on 1st time.
