JUSTUS produced a much stouter finishing effort than usual when second at Hexham on his latest start and, with that form having substance, he could prove to be answer from the same mark. Ask A Sainte is weighted to reverse C&D form with Genbu, and that pair head up the opposition.

Veteran who possibly not the force of old but mark reflects that and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests in a strongly-run race at Aintree (17f) on most recent outing. Not taken lightly down in grade.
Zucayan (FR)
All 3 career wins at Ludlow and proved as good as ever when runner-up in 7-runner handicap there (2m, good) 25 days ago. Won't be far away if reproducing that effort away from favoured venue.
Ask A Sainte
Placed in a bumper on debut and showed improved form over hurdles making handicap debut for a new yard (formerly with David Brace) when fourth of 8 to reopposing Genbu over C&D last month. Meets that rival on 5 lb better terms and must enter the reckoning.
Justus (IRE)
Fair form when recording back-to-back wins on the Flat last year and better signs again over hurdles recently, finding only one too good in 2m Hexham handicap on latest outing. That form has substance and he's much respected from same mark.
Calibos
Fair 1¼m Flat winner who showed an aptitude for hurdling when (125/1) fourth of 8 on stable debut at Huntingdon in early March. Fared best of the also-rans without progressing from that initial effort at Market Rasen last month and more realistic chance now making a quick switch to handicap company.
Clever Relation
Fair winner at 11f on Flat but showed decidedly little in a trio of novice hurdles for Sheila Lewis in 2024/25. Goes handicapping now for a new yard after 15 months off and is probably best watched unless the betting suggests otherwise.
Genbu
Confirmed he's back in form in recording a first handicap hurdle success in 8-runner event over C&D (good to soft, 4/1) 19 days ago, just holding on after a bad mistake at the last. Should remain competitive from a 4 lb higher mark.
